AceBeam
Well, there is some topics going on abouts psp, n64, and Nds. But... What ultimately pwns more? Poll please, also :P I, personally, like Nintendo a little more, because it started video games. Sure, tthey both have their pro's and cons... But overall, what do you guys think? Oh yeah, and I've thought of taking babies and throwing them. cadburys_egg
abouts psp, n64, and n64. I smell bias. But I suppose ill say Sony. Although I first played a Nintendo console (NES) and have owned/played pretty much every console theyve made, they all feel very samey. They cant seem to get past theyre first characters of Mario/DK/Yoshi/Link and now Pokemon. Plus they always have to take that different route, just to say "Hey guys, were DIFFERENT". The PSX always felt quite secure, although the discs would play up a bit more with scratches, the console itself felt just 'better'. Whenever I pick up an N64 they always feel kinda brittle, as do the controllers, but PSXs and controllers always feel well made. Plus I guess I do enjoy nice graphics rather than swinging about a little white wand pretending im playing tennis or something. soo... if i get this right, you're checking if there's more sony fanboys than nintendo fanboys in this forum? Essentially, yes. As if the threads comparing the PSP to the N64/NDS werent already diverging down the path of Sony vs Nintendo. But its weird. If Sony and Nintendo hadnt fallen out all those years ago the PSX and the N64 wouldve been compatible with each other and maybe they might have done that with all their relative consoles there after. Ah, right, because people wouldnt complain after a while saying that its not getting any better? Ah, right, because people wouldnt complain after a while saying that its not getting any better? Developers wouldnt dare think "Hmm, I wish I had more processing power or space with which to make a game", would they? The DS and the Wii are perfect examples of how competition pushes developers to think outside the box in order to gain that strategic advantage in the market. Compare that to the pre-Sony situation, where you had NES, then the same console twice as powerful, then the same twice as powerful again, and even then, the NGC after that wasn't overwhelmingly imaginative. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

What i meant was, it started making them available as household objects. Not really. Only thing NES did was save consoles from the gaming crash of '85 (or whatever, I forgot the date). I don't think consoles really became household objects until Nintendo and SEGA started competing.
Zonorhc
Also, that's a really stupid reason for liking a company. It's along the lines of me saying I like France because of Charlemagne and the Renaissance. And I don't. Star_Fox
this thread is just urging angry fanboys to start a flamewar. ontopic: the first games i played, the only consoles i bought, and the only games i buy are all made by nintendo. then some of you will be thinking that i'm too much of a [kitty] to expand to sonys or microsoft games but that's not actually true. i play nintendo games because i basically grew up with all the characters, levels, and franchises. my consent is that i only stick to games i'm familiar with. besides, what are the chances of someone playing a simple interactive game into shooting, gore, and violence games? i'm not trying to prove anything. it's just fusterating to see people blaming others for being different then them. Crazykid1321
Well, I can say is that the Playstation 1 (Twisted Metal, Spyro, Final Fantasy IX) was golden, but SNES is godly (Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, etc.). I am not essentially a Nintendo fanboy, because I hate most of their new games - I hated Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. (well, Galaxy was a bit fun, just more annoying). I am just an Earthbound fan.
imbackstinkers
okay if we look past the titles, look past the consoles, look past the mascots (does sony have any?) which is more of a household name? which do you hear mentioned more often? do your friends own the same game system as you? think about question 3 carefully very carefully, then you will see if your a true fan or just someone who gets what his friend has. nintendo has that thing, that thing that makes people want to buy their games do you think wii fit would be selling as much if it was sony fit?, whatever happened to crash bandicoot racing? it's all about mario kart wii now. nintendo has IT you guys have to admit it, they get people talking whether theyre talking about their fav games or bashing the crap games. why do you think they call all their spin off games mario kart, mario tennis, mario super sluggers etc well it's because nintendo did what no one else can do they create phenomenons before you even heard about master chief you've heard of mario. people still talk about ocarina of time in glowing terms today. in a couple of years master chief will be a nobody if they don't release another game, seriously nintendo could put crap in a video game case and sell it, well i guess microsoft already did that with halo 3 but moving on. seriously but what games from xbox 360 and ps3 will you guys remember in the next 7 years. Exclusive titles only i can think of two mgs4 and....... fable 2 ( if it doesn't bomb) all the smack you talk about nintendo people will still remember their games super mario galaxy twilight princess mario kart wii mario super sluggers brawl admit it you microsoft fanboys only latched onto master chief because you wanted a god/mascot like character, in seven years i will laugh alongside mario and ask you where is your god now! Macmaster92
"and here we.... go" I do have to agree with the poster above. The character icons really do help Nintendo a lot. Their is only one reason I won't get a Ps3. Most of the games are either A) Racing B) Shooting C) Violent/M and I don't really like those kind of games. I must say that the Ps2 though, was an awesome console.

(Until they [bleep]ed themselves by releasing E.T. and Pac-Man on the 2600) All Nintendo did was, like Nadril said, they brought back the popularity of consoles with the Famicom!!!!! Cloud, Sephiroth and Solid Snake are names as big as any in the business short of Mario. Sony (and since you mention them later) and Msoft are huge, multination corporations that make far more money than Nintendo. Both are among the most important companies in the world. They are more of a household name than Nintendo by a long shot. You hear them mentioned far more often. My friends own a vast array of consoles, including Nintendo. This point is irrelevant, though. before you even heard about master chief you've heard of mario...for obvious reasons... people still talk about ocarina of time in glowing terms today. People still talk about a lot of games in glowing terms today. FF7 for example. And it has been out for longer. Sold more copies too. in a couple of years master chief will be a nobody if they don't release another gameThey already have one announced...and probably several more in production. seriously nintendo could put crap in a video game case and sell itThat would be awful mean of them. seriously but what games from xbox 360 and ps3 will you guys remember in the next 7 years. Exclusive titles only i can think of two mgs4 and....... fable 2 ( if it doesn't bomb) First: Microsoft isn't part of the discussion. But since you brought it up I'm going to use it for my next point. Second: While yes, MGS4 will be remembered and Fable 2 might, this is one of the least educated guesses I've seen. You forgot that Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy are among the very best selling, most influential and most important franchises in video-game history. Their sales rival Pokemon and Mario. I'm not sure if you missed the cultural phenomenons they started, with GTAIV sure to be among the best selling games of this generation. Halo, Gears of War, Gran Turismo, God of War are going to be remembered in...7 years. I'm not sure about you, but most people can remember average games for 7 years. These are iconic games and game-figures. They aren't goint anywhere. And yes, you said exclusive titles, but I fail to see how that is relevant. GTA, FF, Halo, GT, GoW and GoW are all or were former exclusive franchises (so it's techinically accurate), but even as it stands now they aren't on Nintendo. So that's good enuf for the argument. all the smack you talk about nintendo people will still remember their games super mario galaxy twilight princess mario kart wii mario super sluggers brawl This might prove Nintendo has more marketting savy, though it might also prove that they are latching onto old serious is lieu of creating new franchises for the core gamer. Atleast Sony has a fairly broad array of titles from different genres published by them for the core gamer. admit it you microsoft fanboys only latched onto master chief because you wanted a god/mascot like character, in seven years i will laugh alongside mario and ask you where is your god now! Bizarre evidence to support your Nintendo>Sony argument: Microsoft Fanboys like Masterchief... Hmmmm. I guess I didn't make much of an argument for or against either. I just proved this guy wrong. I don't even really have a preference: both Nintendo and Sony are important and excellent in different ways. I just don't fully understand the point of the topic. How do you compare such different companies? Don't call it NES, Famicom sound kick-assierFamicom and NES are two different things.
Caxis
For consoles, I like the PS3 much more. My biggest issue with the Wii is it's storage space. Even with 512MB of memory, I figured I could just use SD cards to expand. But for some reason, Nintendo thought it'd be a good idea to not be able to read Virtual Console games off of SD cards. Their solution of having to delete and re-download games when you run out of space is ridiculous. SSBB's online was disappointing as well. I can deal with the friend code system, but the random game system is awful. Being limited to two minute games is absurd, I was hoping for some options. The friend code games are acceptable though. Mario Kart Wii had a a much better online mode than SSBB.
