That means, at the most, you are 14 years old, Mlbfan13. How cute.

Yeah im 14, and I'm so mature for my age, you cant judge because of my age.

Haha.

Kind of funny how the <18 people mostly don't like it, but >18 are fine with it :P

Nah, for the most part, I'm fine with it. Never been a fan of extremely violent games, especially shooters...And I doubt my parents even know what M stands for.

Other than the big ones (AO, possibly M...And in terms of movies, R), ratings should be more of a guideline, a suggestion, rather than an official rule.

I mean, some games are rated way too strictly, but you really don't want 5 year-old Johnny, who's loved by his mom (And thus would be able to get any game he wants...As long as the rating is low enough) playing CoD or Halo or something online with you, do you? Little kids annoy me enough, I don't need another reason.

I personally don't care about them, probably because I look close to 18, despite being 15. I mean, I can pretty much walk into any games' store and buy any M game. Being 6'2" is awesome.

Yeah though, I just think that the ratings are useless. They aren't really going to stop anyone from getting the game, as proved by the amount of 12 year-olds on Halo 3. No real hate on the fact that their 12, but the stereotype that certain individuals have given me.

I believe the phrase "haha" is in order, followed by the if I had a nickel for every 14 year old who thought they were mature for their age, I could eliminate the US national debt.

If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.

You aren't mature if you need to tell people you are. Just like you aren't cool if you need to do the same.

It seems like ESRB just has to rate for something, anything in a game. I saw an ad for Nintendogs in a magazine earlier, and it was rated for "comic mischief". And only comic mischief. The closest thing to mischief in that game is when the dogs play with each other, and that's a huuuuge stretch.

What the ---- is Comic Mischief anyway...?

Really have no complaints about the ESRB. Some ratings may be a bit out there, yes. The only thing worth complaining about is that people can give a violent game to children and the maker would get backlash. God forbid that you should see what that little 'm' on the box means before giving it to a child.

I wrote in to EGM about them...

I think they are real idiots...They seem to find every little thing and make it a reason for a game to be M.

halo should be T. Project snowblind is just as bad as halo, and its T.

Metal gear 1 should have been T too...

and I did not think MGS3 was not bad enough to call M...it taught me about the Cold War...

I just think they are pretty stupid. E10+ is [developmentally delayed]ed...its either T or E...anyways, does anyone care what the rating is if its T or E? If its M I know people are very defensive, but T and E makes no difference to people I found...

So, I think the ESRB should be taken out, and there should be people in there who know what games are fine...

I still think Halo should be T...all three...they are about as bad as a T game...

baha, I love being Aussie <3: , our M is 15+, and it's 'reccomended' but our MA is you must be 15+

which is a big reason why younger kids are on Halo 3, and CoD4, which is MA...

I wanted to get Far Cry 2 for my birthday, but my parents wouldn't buy it me 'cos it has an 18 rating. I could really easily go behind their backs and get it (they wouldn't check what I'm playing) but I'd rather just respect that and wait a year.

ESRB = good thing, severly limits the pre-pubescent teen shouting down a mic in online games and thats just fine by me.

Also, are all you underageys that bad at persuading your parents/sibling/adult of requisite age to get it for you? Come on

No, that's the point. Some parents, like my mother, won't listen to their kids for squat. You have parents who give everything to their little Johnny, well then you'll have parents who WON'T give anything to their damn Johnny.

It's just the ages that piss me off. T = 10, M = 14/15, AO = 18.

I find more adults/teenagers annoying in games. Maybe it's just because you older folks are used to your own voices, it's the same exact "humor". And who doesn't like the insanely high voice screaming about his sexual conquests?

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I'd rather not get screamed at by some pre pubescent teen who thinks he's cool by saying he did my mother.

It's worse when a twenty year old does it in the same voice, in my opinion.

EDIT: Of course, baron. I just think it's funnier when little kids do it, since they're the stereotype of it.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong, any idiot with a microphone can ruin a game (well, at least until you hit the mute player option). It just seems that younger people are more predisposed to do that kind of thing, I don't mean all of them, but you know, probability and all that.

Its so things like what happened with Manhunt don't happen. A kid killed his friend after playing Manhunt. And like that dude that killed his family after playing Grand Theft Auto.

Last time I heard the relationship between GTA and the killing of his family was not linked.

But for those who can't get your parents to go with you to buy a mature game saying that you have your own money, you should make friends that are 17+ or get you dad to go with you as fathers are more likely to purchase violent games. Or if you are really desperate to a mature game get a fake ID, haha.

What I don't get is how sexual content is instantly flagged for adults.

We can blow people to bits, which is a major crime, but under 18's can play that.

A little bit of nudity and the rating is blown out to adults only (or banned).

I remember when GTA:SA had the hot coffee scandal (it showed you banging your girlfriend - with clothes on). In Australia, the game was banned straight away and wasn't allowed to be sold until the content was removed.

So we can decapitate cops with sniper rifles, blow up cars, light people on fire - that's ok. But the minute a little dry sex comes in, the game is off the shelf.

Makes no sense.
