Is solo mole really that bad?

In the explosm forums you can get sent to "timeout," or not be allowed to post for a few days for not capitalizing and for saying lol and for having bad spelling. It's also one hell of a forum, probably the best i've been to (tip.it's the second best).

 

 

 

Never tried fighting the mole but I might try soloing. I heard ranging works well if you have a high level, is this correct?

ranging hits as often as melee (1/7-10 attacks) cuz mole has really high def. ive found it is weak to stab, so dds ftw, but i use whip slash for max hits. there as a lvl 76 ranger there when i was, and he got some pretty decent hits (18s and &c)

When I used to solo this guy I used to get around 50 solos in a day lol, Yeah its fun but you can do 4 kills with 1 p pot and a super set, use a sp terrorbird too, it auto-finds the mole...

It's not a bad thing, and it is decent money.

 

The only thing why people don't go solo or even kill it is because there are far better bosses with more profit.

As far as mole hunting goes, if you look at it in terms of profit/loss then the profit pravails, but the big negative of the mole is chasing after the stupid thing, which makes hunting it to improbable/invariable to really decide wheter or not its a good solid way of making money. I've solo'd the mole in the past, and if it was for the running I'd do it quite often, and the trips were all profitable but in the time it took to kill the running noob i could have made more money crafting laws or something.

Mole killing can and is profitable if you know what your doing, I have fought the mole in almost every possible equipment setup, from my personal experience I have found the best was to kill it, I'll list my least favourite here (its my least favourite because my low range hurts damage dealing ability and its slightly less profitable)

Method:

 

You will need to know how to 'Prayer Flash' effectively because you will be fighting on low health because of Ruby(e) bolts special attack, meaning one attack from the mole and you could be dead.

 

 

 

You will need to learn of as many of the 'Safe Spots' as you can in the moles underground layer to range it from.

 

 

 

You will need to know the dig locations of the mole for when it resurfaces as if others are in the cave you need to find it fast, also I would post my way of looking but I'm afraid too many people would use it. (Like I've learnt on these boards, share something and Runescape knows your secret!)

 

 

 

When entering the tunnels for the first time equip your broad bolts, when you find the mole shoot it to see if its being attacked or not,if it is retreat to the centre and stand in the safe spot next to the obelisk until the mole is dead, however if it is at full health switch to your DDS and special it four times with protect from melee on and hope it gets poisoned, then re-equip your rune c'bow and your ruby(e) bolts and go to the nearest safe spot or get ready to use the 'prayer flash' technique, (also don't forget to pray for those special attacks from your bolts) and start killing it, when it digs (if it does) do your 'scouting' method to check the tunnels until you find it, then attack it and head to a safe spot to continue killing it.

 

 

 

 

 

My hand hurts now from typing that fast... anyway good luck trying to mole hunt.

 

 

 

PS. Personally I sell my claws and skins, I did 1k of each claws and skins to see how much loss/profit I would make, if I remember right I made 60k profit, but in the time it took me to turn them in i could of made another 3-500k from killing the mole.

you take 2 prayer pot (4) per trip, valued at around 7k each, which translates to about 14k

 

 

 

i take about 22 strange fruit for run (valued at around 900 gp ea) which totals to about 20k.

 

 

 

now, i melee with dds and whip and wear prose legs/body with nezzy helm, chaos gauntlets, d boots, sara cloak, and rune defender. plus ring of wealth.

 

 

 

i can get around 4-5 kills before i need to bank (for more strange fruit), and normally i would have only used 2-3 doses of prayer potion.

 

 

 

you get an average of 3 skins/claws (combined) per kill, plus the drop, and while the drops themselves are rubbish, the claws/skins can be exchanged for nests that give seeds (i myself have gotten 3 ranarr seeds and 1 yew seed total of my 5 solo trips) and then you can crush the nests and get 3k for each of them. every 5 kills translates to 15-20 nests, which is 45-60k. that easily pays for the supplies and then some.

 

 

 

so i say again, is soloing the mole really that bad?

It is good ... but you're bringing the wrong gear. If you solo range with a TERRORBIRD then you're fine; you're spending too much on prayer recovery and running speed recovery.

solo is good, theres way to see where he appears after digging and way to make the mole loot spawn under your legs if it dies poison somewhere at the cave.

For xp and money, mole fails. It's a fun boss which is easily killed with 2 nooby lv 70s in a clan tbh.

With a bandos godsword and piety, I could usually kill the mole fast enough that I'd spend more time waiting for the next spawn on a full world than actually chasing it around.

 

 

 

At the very least it's a fun break from the normal routine.

depends on what you're after. I was going to vinesweeper until I puked to get my spirit seed (55k points..). Then I decided to try my luck on some moles...1 trip, 4 moles, and I got my spirit seed. :lol:
