Training Strenght through obsidian combo

Featured Replies

I'm talking about Obsidian necklace(zerker necklace) and Obsidian sword.I do not want to go through Monkey Madness quest just for the scimitar and I also don't want to train with the whip on controlled.I'll probably get strenght ahead of attack/defence then train them separately with whip.

My question is : has anyone used this combo?(and with what results).

Thanks for the info.

ive used it before and its better then d scim and a bit worse then sara sword

What stance should i use for the sword?

if you mean attack style. You use stab (lunge) for str training

I think it would be better if you had higher attack ... a dragon scimmy is pretty effective, but some people don't want to buy an obby necklace and a sword just for that one case, when they're already spending too much on sup sets and all.

But they'll spend millions on an SS, why not spend 600k for something worse than that but better than dragon scimmy? 1/10th~ of price but not nearly that low in effectiveness.

sculpin_ipa.png

That's different. There are a lot of ppl out there who'll spend that much on an ss when they don't know other combos that are as or more effective. other than that are people who just like it's spec.

I've tried ss before, and it's waaay not worth it.

Because you can sell it when you're done and not lose anything. If most, it'll flucuate a little, but that also means there is potential GAIN. So it events out... and even if you do lose a bit, it is made up in the time saved, no?

Super sets are like 6k.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

It's faster, though. You can take many factors in, but once you weigh them all out SS comes in top by far. (Behind the whip. ;) )

So training with a whip on controlled is better than training strength with an SS?

King_Ankh.png

Training Strength on controlled is half as good as a ss on strength. Sara swords the best as its as fast as a whip and only hits 1-2 damage less depending on gear. But if you can't afford a sara sword then the obby combo will be fine.

oversized.jpg[/bads]

I'm doing so now; and I'm pretty sure it owns ss, not in speed or anything, but since its MUCH cheaper, its very very good.

Power-training is good with the maul/mace, and normal use the sword.

Mace is super hard to get.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

SS is not owned by obby sword and zerker necklace. D scim however is. SS is the best non controlled way to train strength, and there is no comparison to it at the moment (non controlled)

So training with a whip on controlled is better than training strength with an SS?

No, and I'm going to go search for some question form a while ago to all you "pro-controlled" people that is STILL not answered...

EDIT:

whip+defender on controlled is faster if you want to level all 3.

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but I've seen this statement repeated in various forms over and over. can someone PLEASE explain to me how this is true?

Let's take the levels of 80 to 90 in consideration, not even going as far as to max out...

The rate at which you gain experience is entirely dependent on the damge that you deal, correct? Also, damage dealt is affected by your attack and strength levels with no direct input from defense, correct? If the two previous statements are indeed correct, then how is it possible that you would get the expereince from 80 to 90 in all 3 melee skills faster while training controlled than you would if you were to train attack and strength to 90 initially with a whip and sara sword using their respective focused options?

Using the focused methods seperately, you would reach your maximum potential to recieve experience(90 attack and strength) faster than you would reach your maximum potential with controlled training(and then you would not be trainign at maximum speed at all what with already being done). If you train in the order of attack, then strength, and then defense. Then the time that it took to finish your defense trainign would be shorter than the time which it took to finish your strength trainign which in turn would be shorter than the time which it took to finish your attack trainign because with focused training each step aids the next.

Based on all that stuff tha I just spewed, I see no way that a whip on controlled is faster than a whip on focused attack, sara sword on focused strength, and then whip again on focused defense. The lower rate of experience gain from the lack of a defender is not great enough to cause enough of a slow down, and since you trained attack already, you have 10 more levels to make up for that loss of 20 accuracy bonus.

Also, I'd assume that someone with 90 attack and strength using a dragon scimitar would deal damage much more quickly than someone with 80 attack and strength using a whip, do to the fact that I think that levels carry far more weight than equipment bonuses. That statement however, has no proof or evidence whatsoever and is merely my opinion.

So please, please explain to me how

whip+defender on controlled is faster if you want to level all 3.

so now wats the best obby weapon?

I'd also like to see evidence of the whip on controlled.

I'd also like to see evidence of the whip on controlled.

What evidence is needed?

Whip > SS > Obby Combo > D Scim

That means if you plan on training all three, then use whip on controlled and it will be better than a SS on controlled.

SS on str, whip on atk, whip on def in that order beats the rest though.

No it doesn't where do you get this from? Controlled means the same amount of exp to all three (1.33 xp per hit each). If whip can do more exp per hour than a sara sword, than the strength exp gained that hour would be greater than that gained by the sara sword.

If i were you i wouldnt really get obby combo. I was thinking about getting it but its kindaof a waste. So instead I bought a whip and im training controlled so it goes to all 3 skills :D
