Junkie_Joe
- I was positive that someone would post a thread about this before me. Nobody did, which is why I'm posting it now (too late?)- Hello. Back when the november edition of Behind the Scenes was released, this part caught my eye: Finally, after that huge update will come something much, much smaller! For a few days over the last weekend of November, youll notice Thanksgiving turkeys wandering around the map, gobbling and generally minding their own business. Hunt them down for some tasty drumsticks or find the turkeys in disguise for a special reward. Look out for more short celebration updates like this in the future. Now I know many of you might not care about this, because of the new grandmaster quest coming up, but I sure do. First of all, let's have a look at the Thanksgiving event: - It's only available for a few days - It's holiday-themed - There's a 'special reward' So it's basically a holiday event as we know it - only way shorter. It also said that there would be more of these small celebrations to come. Any ideas on what these could be? Perhaps New Year or Saint Patrick's Day? If this is the beginning of new holiday events, I'm looking forward to them. Christmas, Halloween and Easter would, of course, still be the biggest ones, but smaller ones like Thanksgiving would be mint. Thanks to Jwrm22 for helping me with the signature :DHave a look at my 'Land of Fakes'Private chat ON, give me a HYT and I'll HYT you back :D
Ravenkana
In all honesty, I'm not excited. This sort of thing, with the fewer updates, just takes up valuable release slots. Heck, if it's smaller than the other holidays, the items gotten will be even LESS useful. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

Zaaps1
I don't think Jagex should sway to events which alienate people who don't celebrate them. Then again they do give Christmas and Easter events, plus I can't really complain  I don't think St. Patrick's Day would be celebrated. From what I've learn from history, the UK doesn't have a Catholic Majority, neither does the US. Those are the two biggest groups in RS, so Jagex should cater to them if anything. Valentines day is so widely celebrated, it's not religious anymore, so that seems reasonable. I can definitely see New Years though. ~It's Super Effective! Maximusa
Tbh it sounds like an idea that came from getting people to stay/become members. For this 'special' one time reward. That doesnt really effect me but seems likely the reason. Which of course there is no real problem with as they only a business now. Thats if they do member rewards anyway - Which they might not. Besides that I really dont care about Thanksgiving due fact it must only be a yank thing.. Would anyone else really care about an event like that? Wow..er..Lets pretend im an american day! woot.. I rather they stuck to more widely spread calender events.. Halloween was bad enough but atleast others do celebrate it and it is somewhat a 'fun' event so it can be forgiven. (If it was an american game fine but I dont see the point thanksgiving myself.) Other than that - A new year event would be nice, valentine etc. I never liked the holiday events to begin with so im not so excited by this. It's obvious which holiday will be picked. Yomyth105
good catch joe =D> well these rewards wont be tradeable. and like other rewards this will be useless like the other but holiday themed. then it will depend on whether u can wield it or not. If it is like halloween candy it is useless. if it is something u can wield and ppl can only get within a day then thats pretty nice and unique. Thanksgiving? It makes no sense to celebrate a holiday that only exists in two countries(USA/Canada). Celebrations are always welcome, but there's definitively no love for an american holiday if you're not american ¬_¬ 2480+ total

Maximusa
If they already done 'ImAnAmericanDay-Thanksgiving' event it be cool to experience it.. (Atleast I understand what it is! The history etc..) I just hope they dont release something like.. ??Groundhog day?? While its still not too late.. -not to come up with the idea- Truthfully I am not a stupid person but I have no idea about the history/background/POINT of Groundhog day. (I dont think I want to) I only know it exists because of that film with the dude who keeps repeating that day over and over again.. I dont know what it is besides that. Valentines be awesome with hearts all around runescape lol.. Watching the Simpsons there is also some event where you wack snakes.. I really dont want to experience this even though it sounds fun lol. Sorry for showing any ignorance/stupidity in this post. :P Im worried if I should take the Simpsons event seriously or not.. I wouldnt be surprised if it was. VMeh BlogV >Miscellaneous Goals< http://www.rsbandb.com/sigs/sig108/bazzaminxer.png

Mercifull
I'm going to take a punt and say that the "turkeys in disguise" is just going to be the penguin hunt just with Turkeys for a week like how they are all in pumpkins for halloween. Den
I think its a good idea. We need more fun items. : (Some say useless) Dont get so detailed.
