Roaccutane

Once again, just use this. It really does beat anything else by a long stretch, it will just dry your lips quite a bit.

Hmmm.. "ro(accutane)".. I am guessing this stuff is something along the lines of what I suggested. It even has the same drying properties. I'd have to agree with this product if that is so.

Yah, probably the same, I didn't read your post before I posted, sorry. The laws on drugs are generally less strict in North America too so what your sister had was probably stronger/better than what my friends have had (or the same  ).

Yeah, I used to be on Accutane (6 months). Great benefits, to bad it dries you out like mad, like, everywhere. Tried all the tetracyclines, Duac, Retin-A, and even things like Bactine and Hydrocortizone. Benzoyl Peroxide sucks, it just burns your pores the instant you start to sweat, which it why I never liked Proactive, etc.

^ Still, not having acne is much less irritating than having acne. Also, you can pull in the leet wimminz if you're more aesthetically pleasing.

OT - Woo, Accutane. Worked wonders for me, but, as others said, OH GOD IT'S THE SA-FREAKIN-HARA DESERT. D:

Acne won't kill you.

Get over it.

More or less totally misleading statement, given severe acne can lead to depression and even suicide. Why suffer from a treatable skin disease and be ridiculed by ignorant people every day, when substances like Roaccutane are widely available for everyone?

Have you ever had nodular acne? :?

I didn't think nodular acne could kill? My brother had something like that, and he just said they hurt like a [bleep], and took a lot longer to go down than normal acne.

Well, I'm not saying it can kill, but it certainly hurts, even more than regular acne. After that, it leaves an impression/scar on your face forever.

Hi there Realize. First off, don't let your self esteem drop. Odds are everyone will have pimples/acne problems at some point of their life, so it's nothing to worry about. Look at it from another perspective; if you passed by someone with a mine field of pimples on their forehead, do you stop and oggle at them? Nope. So pick your head up and get some confidence ;)

Now in my honest opinion I'd rather you not go into drugs to solve your acne problem. Instead, turn to natural solution which are just as good, if not better than those drugs. First off, get some more rest if you aren't getting any. Deprivation of sleep can cause hormone imbalance and can cause you to get outbreaks and have acne problems. That 8 hours of sleep is necessary plus you feel super refreshed in the mornings :)

Exercise. Now this may sound cliche, but exercise is a good way to relieve stress. Stress can be held accountable for acne problems, so exercise is a good way to relieve stress and increase blood flow to parts of your body. With a healthy blood flow in your body it allows all parts of your body to receive nutrients, so you won't have any pores being clogged in your face.

Wash your face regularly. Oils can help build up the waxy and oily texture in your face and by washing your face and scrubbing it down nice and clean you're helping rid your face of those amino acids. Be sure to use soap as it has a hydrophilic and phobic property which helps emulsify fats, giving you an overall cleaner and fresher face.

Use mild treatment. Oxy pads work very well in helping unclogging pores when used nightly. Giving your face a good scrub also helps you alleviate your symptoms for reasonably, without the use of drugs.

Now you may be tempted to use those fancy medication, but for the price it isn't worth it. Simply using natural solutions can be better for you and your wallet. It's the wise thing to do in your situation. Good luck with your acne :)

Thanks a lot, I've been trying to eat more healthy foods for a week or two now but I haven't seen much improvement. I didn't know working out relieved stress though. I work out 2-3 times a week with a Bowflex home gym, but I might start doing that a little more now. Thanks a lot for your post, it helped.

Somehow I doubt the pimples grew hands, grabbed a knife and stabbed itself.

Suicide is cowardly, unless you know you're going to die the most painful, gruesome death ever.

If someone killed themselves over acne, there's one less idiot we have to worry about.

I take it you have suffered from depression caused by bullying and that your viewpoint is inspired through experience as opposed to judgementalism then.

If you are looking for a product, I would suggest talking to a doctor about the use of "Accutane". I may have spelled it wrong, but if you mention it to your doctor out loud then it should be fine. My sister had rather bad acne and she used it. It took a few months, but it cleared her face up, and there haven't been further breakouts according to her. From what I understand it dries your skin by partially closing glands that produce oils on your skin because in a lot of acne cases it is due to excess production of these oils. I suppose this would mean your skin will become dry while you take it, but I seriously think the benefit would outweigh something such as that. Also, there are likely moisturizing lotions and whatnot that you could use. If I remember correctly the dose was in a pill she took, which is rather convenient. I myself never really had too much of an acne problem, but I know that lack of washing your face, or excessively washing it can cause irritations to occur on your skin.

One thing to definitely be sure of is that when you shave (I presume you are male), is that you shave properly with the direction the hair is supposed to grow. Improperly shaving can easily cause skin irritation since with a dull blade hairs can be pulled by the root, or when shaving in the wrong direction they can be pulled as well.

I think this is generally all I know on the topic. I can't say I wish that I had more experience with it so I could better help you, but this will have to be my contribution. All I can say is don't let it get you down.

Thanks. Quite a few people have mentioned that Accutane works great, but for now I'm just going to do what Infamous and a few other people posted and go with the natural way. Eat more, exercise more, drink more water, etcetera. If that doesn't work I'll surely give Accutane a try.

Insensitive remarks such as "get over it" are completely useless and not welcome in a thread where a user is asking for help. Whether another user thinks the question or the issue is stupid or nothing, obviously it is important to whoever is asking about it. Keep comments in this thread respectful and if you have nothing to add that is helpful or positive to the author, please do not bother responding to it at all.

Pop a fish oil caplet every after meal (3x a day)

Works, plus Omega 3 fish oil caplets are cheap as heck. You can get them from supplement stores for about $10 per 100-200 capsules, cheap price compared to the benefits if you were to also suffer from self-esteem problems due to acne:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 024221.htm

There is mounting evidence that a diet containing omega-3 fatty acids, already known to help prevent cardiovascular disease, may also prevent depression.

Even though I haven't had acne for years I still buy them due to the low price and health benefits... Flush down with green tea daily, along with a healthy diet and 2-3x workout every week, and you can't really be in a better shape.

Also if you have trouble controlling your diet when you first start lifting weights (a problem countless people I know personally have), omega3 can also keep your hunger level balanced and stop the need for sudden cravings of junk food or your old diet.

This works pretty well.

Also, you cold try submerging your face in the hottest water you can stand for 6 minutes. This widens your pores noticeably and washes any suff that's clogging them out. Then do the same with cold water to close your pores up again.

I was being facetious. I'm saying you're not really in any position to judge the mentality of those who take their lives due to low self-esteem as cowardice, unless of course, you're secretly a psychiatrist when you're not on the Net and you took the liberty of analysing such a patient for yourself.

I've booked an appointment with my city's Dermatologist (Around 300k people, and one Dermatologist) but it's scheduled for February 18th 2010, so...

Edit: By the way, Latios, if you aren't going to contribute in a positive way then stop posting in this thread.

You might want to try looking a little further away, waiting more than a year really isn't worth it to save a little money and commute time.

The nearest Dermatologist other than that one would be in Toronto, which is around 7 hours away from where I live. Maybe I could set up something if what I'm trying now doesn't work to my liking. I'm going to try the natural approach (better food, exercise, water) and if that fails I'll try Accutane.

DO NOT blindly take Roaccutane.

It's ridiculously potent--I was looking up some of it's side-effects, and, well, they're terrible.

Do not use it unless all other methods are exhausted.

My friend, who until recently had a lot of acne, always praises holistic medicines. Ayurvedic medicines.

It apparently worked better than the specific, processed stuff that they hand out in pills.

But yeah. Don't want to see another person suffer some Roaccutane related consequences. Check it out with your doctor first.

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

See if you can get some minor treatment prescribed from your GP until 2010. Most acne treatments take a good few months to start taking effect anyway so it's a good timescale if you're serious on beating it for good.
