Members pay so they get the best updates, they don't pay to keep F2P from getting updates too. And if you'll notice, most of the past F2P updates were to replace the December updates. Jagex wants to keep F2P alive because that's where their members come from. Yes, I agree F2P doesn't "deserve" anything but it's Jagex's game and they're free what they want to do with it. This is called marketing, look it up. You say if F2Pers don't like not getting updates they should either get members or quit, well if you don't like that F2P gets the occasional bread crumb then I suggest you quit too. It's not like Holiday events should count anyway, they're temporary. Unless you think all members updates would count if they were temporary too. As long as members keep getting the updates they deserve (being frequent ones and much better than those for F2P) I'm happy. Being a player seince before there was members and maybe 2-3 severs I remember the updates before that were constant for free players. The base of runescape started with free players and those players helped keep the game alive. So i believe f2p players deserve an update now and then. I love uneducated opinions, they just give me a nice foothold to try and point out many common misconceptions. And F2P happens to be one of my favourite topics that is always slandered by people complaining its a bunch of freeloaders loosing money and for some reason causing harm to p2p? Well you're wrong on every note there =D> F2P probably brings in about as much money, if not more, than P2P. This is due to the large number of ads that Jagex uses to FUND F2P!. F2P is self sustaining, and even goes so far as to keep the whole game of runescape afloat on its own. People really done realize just how much money ad companies pay to have people host their ads, and jagex- being a large and very well populated game- gets LOTS of views on its ads, thus they pay even more for the opportunity to have jagex host them. Apart from F2P funding the game (P2P is the "money maker" as in profits, which Jagex uses to pay employees/just be money-filled) it is also the largest provider of raw resources in the game. If any P2P players are complaining that F2P doesnt deserve anything because they dont benefit the game, in any way, economically or game wise: slap yourself in the face please and thankyou. F2P is the only reason P2P stays alive, because Jagex designed things the way they did, members is now a F2P dependant environment, where the members have access to large amounts of easy fast money, while the F2P do the labour, ie- collecting raw materials like, coal, wood, fish, essence etc. If there were no F2P, Runescape would cost about as much as WoW does, maybe more depending on how WoW does their marketing. AND P2P would suffer because of the lack of resources, forcing everyone to 'waste' their time collecting everything themselves, or paying arms legs and other appendages in order to skill. So dont say F2P is just some leeching parasite that does you no benefit: *It supplies you ingame, keeping your resources cheap. *It brings in monstrous amounts of money for Jagex, if it didnt, they wouldnt offer it :roll: *It brings in more interest for people to try the game, eventually leading to more members, which is always more money, which leads to a bigger company, which leads to bigger and better updates for you. And as a side note, ANYTHING given to F2P is also given to P2P, and almost always with extras. The more they do for the F2P, the more will happen for P2P in the long run. So dont be so near sighted and self-righteous about F2P being scum. OT- I cant say that anything is really NEEDED, but I'm sure Jagex will throw the F2P some bones to play with. Reverents can be a pain, but you can run away from them. Just curious, do they still have teleblocking ability?Fear the church, the reverents have 85 magic!!!! (aside from the events, graphics, rc guild, various bug fixes, the occasional poll and the never ending barrage of new tutorials in lumbridge.) HolyWendigo Posted November 13, 2008 Share Posted November 13, 2008 F2P players get lets say 1/5 of the game for free, they get 15 of the 24 skills there are, 18 of the who knows how many quests, access to some of the many armors/weapons there are in the game. So it would seem to me that they get quite alot for their $0.00 payment. I have been both a f2p and p2p member of runescape, and it seems to me that if you want to have all the extra pixels, flashy spells, new areas, ect. then pay your $5.00 and get it.
