Wow, looks nice.

I dont get it though, half is like mud huts and mud creatures and the rest is robots with giant guns. Interesting combination.

Looks like some sort of future RuneScape >_<

One theory is that there at least two species - one technological (Mechs/Robots?) and one biological (Pliigi), with potentially a third based on magic or some other mystical force.

Looks like some sort of future RuneScape >_<

At E3 they started by saying "It's nothing like RuneScape" before stating that it would be browser-based, based the same technology as RuneScape, sci-fi and aimed at an older audience (later expanded to mean 18+).

Looks cool, hurry jagex i wanna play -.-

Release estimate from Jagex was Q1 2009, then March 2009 and is now Spring 2009.

It looks very awesome. It would probably be pretty hard to play the game in anything other than HD since some of those objects would probably still be very big even as sprites. Which means that I need a new computer....

Knowing how Jagex works, I think this will be an amazing game. I might even switch over if it is good enough. Im a fan of the future type things, but I havnt met a game yet to fufil the type of game play I like. I think Jagex might actually be able to pull it off.

I know they said it wont be like runescape, but, just think. Player owned machine shops? Making your own parts, maybe they would go so far as to have player owned shops, without a central GE?

Until I see an official website from Jagex, I'm not convinced that Mechscape is real. And I don't mean just a domain name, I want a full functioning site.

That is unrealistic. FunOrb didn't have a fully-functioning website until its day of release, and they didn't announce it on the RuneScape website for a few days.

They talked about it at E3. Mentions of MechScape directly by name:

...and the EU trademarks.

There are various other articles which mention MechScape not by name, and Jagex employees who talk about it in their CVs or portfolios. Jagex have been talking about an undisclosed project in their job vacancies for ages. If you doubt MechScape is real then do a bit of research.

It looks like a cross between Star Wars and Metroid Prime.

Although I have a feeling I won't be able to play it on my computer... or if it's for 18+ I might not be able to in general (Parental rules :o But I probably will anyways)

It is aimed at 18+, that doesn't necessarily mean it is unsuitable for minors. Demographics are for marketing, not content restriction.

The art look great but i wonder if there will be trade and how they will stop rwt if there is.

The best I can give you is this quote from a February 2008 interview:

is there an argument for getting rid of the inherent grind mechanics of the genre that real-world trading has grown up around trying to "cheat"?

Imre Jele: That's a very, very interesting idea, and the only thing I can tell you now is that we have some amazing products going live next year - a new MMO - and we are tackling this issue at a core design level. I think you summed up a very reasonable way to approach this.

The concept art looks good, though Sci-fi games rarely appeal to me. I'll probably check it out around release time then settle back to my Runscape ways

Yeah, it makes sense. Some sort of almost 'tremulousey' thing.

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

I don't trust ANY concept art on mechscapeworld.com

They posted a Rhino Tank from Warhammer 40k in their concept art section, and who knows how many other things are from different games or whatever.

EDIT: If anone wants to see proof:
