Dragonkin: After the Rise of Lucien

Featured Replies

I remember during Darkness of Hallowvale you got to climb up on the wall surrounding Castle Drakan. Perhaps a return trip there is needed to further investigate? You only have one pic on your main post of the Castle anyway. As far as I remember, we are allow all over the wall, which surrounds the entire Castle. Couple that with the Macaw's bird's eye view function and you might even be able to locate where Bob fought that Dragonkin.

I just tried to smith a dragon square on the dragon forge anvils, but nothing happened at all. Not even a message saying "nothing interesting happens".

The same thing (nothing) happens when you use anything on the anvils, except for the bars

Yeah exactly, I tried everything else I had in my inventory with the anvils with that result...so that was rather anti-climatic :( I was hoping something amazing would happen, but no such luck.

I just got my Quest Cape today and am looking forward to the upcoming Dragonkin quest.

The elder dragon ideas are interesting...Maybe the dragonkin (elder dragons) fought humans because we were invading their land? Guthix brough humans to Gleinor (spel) so that would explain the theoretical conflict between dragonkin and Guthix.

Elder dragons....Elder Gods... Remember the Elder gods who created runescape? From the "Meeting History" quest? Maybe the dragonkin got the stone of Jas from the Elder Gods. Also, the stone of jas might be tied to stealing creation, the clay of the (Elder?) Gods...

I highly doubt the elder dragons can be anything but the dragonkin.

I spent the entire afternoon there with my macaw and I didn't see anything conclusive. The macaw was less useful than you'd think; even though you're standing on a wall with nothing in the way, the macaw can't fly north south east or west; only straight up. And when you do send it straight up, you frequently see almost nothing that you couldn't see on the ground. You get nowhere NEAR the center of the castle with the macaw, which is most likely to be the battleground we saw.

Proud Completer of WGS!

...There will be Adamant and Runite Dragons... It's a patten used by Jagex to drop the full set of Dragon Armour.

1. Hasn't it all ready been proven that the Dragonkin is a race...? I'm sure it has, and I'm sure they are a race; not a single Mahjarrat.

2. Bod the (Damn) Jagex Cat is NOT Zaros. This a well known fact, proven many times. (I can prove if you reeeallly want me to...) I'd rather not gather the info though :wall:

The Dragonkin are not good. Look the the pic (on the first page) of the Varrock Museum exhibit of the Dragonkin; it says "A new terror, the Dragonkin, is a foot blah blah blah) or something like that. Terror means bad.

3. Not Mahjarrat... only affiliated with the Mahjarrat.

Just because the Mahjarrat and humans were enemies DOES NOT make them evil. They could be like humans or elves...Neither good nor evil, it depends on personal preference. The dwarves are not evil, nor are they the enemies of humans...At one time, before humans had true settlements or magic, the "underground" was a fearfull place because of the dwarves who lived there. This comes from the Fremnik storyline. I digress alot; just pointing out that past fights don't prove anything. We don't know WHY they were fighting.

And sorry for the double post...I posted before I read most of the 12 pages, and now on the 11th page I have posted again.

EDIT: FINALLY finished reading everything.

Already done that. I am sure the castle IS the Dragonkin castle, but I can't find the symbols anywhere.

I dont think dragonkin are undead, just a strange naming thing

Also, the kbd's message, we will rise from the ashes of defeat or something like that, dragonkin will come back to life, or back out from hiding, probably much much stronger.

It has been proven that BOB is robert the strong, how he got into cat form and why he lost his memory and why he lives for a milinia and a half is unknown, but he is robert, so, if (when) the dragonkin return, they could hunt out bob, seeking revenge, maybe seeing the dragonkin will trigger a reaction and turn him back into robert. Also, is Odyseus really dead, did he die in the cutscene fight? will he meet with bob?

Another (very unlikely) thought... Dragon kin might be the mahjarrat? transformation? maybe the DK's made the mahjarrat like they made dragons?

to continue the chain of dragons: there might be an addy/runite dragon, giving a dragon platebody, or maybe more weapons that never came out: warhammer, shortsword, pickaxe, fullshield, claws, and maybe even a dragon staff or cape!

other stuff you didn't touch on:

Draconic visage: does this have anything to do with the dragonkin?

how come random monsters have dragon wepons for the dropping?

what is dragonstone? does it have anything to do with the dragonkin?

And dosn't the cutscene fight look a little suspishous? like, no other dragonkin attack him, even though there comerade is getting killed, and robert was only almost killed, but not quite, could the fight have been set up? is robert just a way of confuzing humans?

EDIT:

about the dragonkin being evil? I belive so, afterall, even though robert was the attacker, I belive that he was defending humans, because 'the dragonkin crave bloodshed' they dont just do it for survival, the CRAVE it, take some sick pleasure in it, etc...

I dunno, but when I was reading though the parts about the Vampyres and stuff, I thought about how the Vyrewatch were almost immortal, and maybe, if the Dragonkin have anything to do with Mortania, that could be a link?

And the Vyrewatch can be killed with the Silythril or whatever flail of Ivandis, and maybe the Mythril part of this has a connection? The Mythril/Silver could represent a connection between the Vampyres and the Dragonkin. (Silver Dragons?! :o!!!)

I think the elder dragons and the dragonkin are the same thing too, but what if the elder gods and the elder dragons are the same thing? They sound similar and we believe the dragonkin once had control of the stone of jas, with the stone of jas I'm sure they'd have enough power to create the world as we know it, or at least change it so drastically that it looked like it had been recreated. But if the elder gods and the dragonkin are the same, how come Robert the Strong managed to kill one? Surely they'd have been immensely powerful? Maybe that particular one was weakened or maybe Robert the Strong was the incarnation of Zaros and that's how he got his power?

You have some good points there, but one thing just came into my mind: Guthix doesn't allow any God to be on Runescape, they all have to stay in the God Realm (maybe they can move between realms, but just not Gielenor). So if Bob the cat is Zaros, then why hasn't Guthix come yet to blow him to pieces? Furthermore, Zaros was imprisoned in another dimension when he 'died', so what is he doing walking around on Gielenor?

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).

[hide=The discovery of runes]

"I remember my father, a smith of the highest standing, first telling me as a boy that a man from the north had madest a discovery of... well, there are some secrets I fear I must take to my grave in case they fall into the wrong hands. Yet I will say this; this man of the north had found something of great importance that required a great deal of study, and had bought some paltry supplies such as hammers and chisels from my father, which is how he knew of it.

"Even as a young boy I had an interest in this world in which we dwell, and this discovery surprised me. That night I stole away from my parents' home in the land we now call Misthalin so that I might join this man in examining his findings. What had he found? Patience, boy, I am coming to that - but I cannot reveal too much, for evil walks this land, and if it knew all of the secrets which had been discovered all of man would suffer in ways you cannot imagine... let us just say, that this man from the north had discovered Magick.

"I was not the only one who had come to see his discovery. A group of people, perhaps two score in number from all over this realm, and of all ages and tribes had heard similar rumours. They were as consumed by curiosity as I and had come to pledge themselves to exposing the secrets of this discovery. I cannot describe to you the awe and wonder we all felt when first the man from the north demonstrated the power he had discovered... To strike a foe with a mighty gust of wind at will! This feat is almost commonplace nowadays, and seen in brawls all over the lands, but back then... it was as though we had gained the power of a god!

"And as we trained and studied, our powers grew stronger and more unbelievable... I saw men moving objects with just the power of their mind, others turning useless items into the purest gold!

"But these skills and powers were not the greatest discovery that we made. It was discovered that we could take these powers and magicks, and bind them into solid objects which we called rune stones, for each had been marked with the rune symbol of the Magick which we had bound into it.

"These stones could then be given to someone who had not studied nor trained with our group - and the Magickal energies bound within them could be released at will. We all agreed that the discovery, and the Magicks it had allowed us, and our ability to store these magicks in compressed form as stones, required much investigation, far more investigation than was possible with just the small group that we were... so we vowed to all return to our homelands and spread the message of our discoveries, so that we could gain more followers to assist us in our research.

"When I returned home, my parents scolded me for my thoughtlessness and selfishness in leaving them with not a word of explanation - yet the looks on their faces when I showed them the powers I had achieved through my studies! When I smelted some of my father's ore in my hand without the need of his furnace, he almost collapsed with wonderment, for it was then that he saw what I could see when I had left home; that this discovery was the future of our people on this world.

"Only my mother gave me words of caution, which I did not understand then in my foolish youth; that there was danger in trying to match the gods, for the gods are jealous and do not want mere mortals having powers such as they possess... Many times since then I have thought on her words and wished I had understood them as I do now."

[/hide]

We can assume that the object they found was the Stone of Jas, and that it was found in "the north" somewhere - that would be the wilderness. The Stone of Jas was not owned by anyone when the humans found it; it was buried in the ground somewhere (they needed tools, chisels etc. to uncover it), so they could not have stolen it from Guthix or the Dragonkin. Perhaps the place they found it was where the Fist of Guthix cave now is?

Also, who/what is Jas? Another name for Guthix? The "man from the north" who found it? Or maybe the word "power" in some ancient language.

And who was the "man from the north"? A mahajarrat, possibly?

I always thought he was talking about the Rune Essence Rock, as that can be found somewhere in the north too, if you look at all the ice... :-k After all, the Moonclan Manual states that the Stone of jas was instantly removed by the gods after it was discovered by a Fremennik Seer. If thats the case the discoverer couldn't have formed whole groups to investigate it, right? We can't even be sure the place 'it' was found was the Wilderness; I thought it was somewhere in the troll mountains. And about the name we know very little, but one thing is sure: it is a person, because the Oracle says that 'Jas left a Stone behind'. I personally think Jas is one of the Elder Gods.

And about the name we know very little, but one thing is sure: it is a person, because the Oracle says that 'Jas left a Stone behind'. I personally think Jas is one of the Elder Gods.

Just because the Oracle says that the stone belongs to Jas doesn't necessarily mean that Jas is a person. She could have meant to be metaphorical, for example we often say "the rain has stopped" or "the storm is brewing" but that doesn't mean the rain and the storm are people. Jas may be a term used to describe a concept or an idea or maybe even an inanimate object, for example roots belong to a tree. However, you are right that Jas is probably the name of a person. Let me put Jas through a translator/dictionary....

Jas is the name of a village in the Loire region in France, which is interesting because Zaros is the name of a village in Greece.

Jasmonates are a group of plant hormones which regulate plant growth and development...

JAS stands for loads of things like Japanese Agricultural Standards and the Jordanian Astronomical Society...

There is a fight jet called the JAS 39 Gripen fighter.

Jas can be short for Jason!

This is getting very interesting... and sorry if I seemed a little insane in my last comment.

Holy poo...Thinking back to all the quests it makes so much sense. I have no theories myself, but I agree with yours! I'm nervous about this GM quest, though. Even though I managed to get my quest cape I'm still too scared to go down into the ancient caverns. :ohnoes: I guess that means I need to work on my combat! Great job on the thread! I'll be on the lookout for any more evidence that supports your theories! :D

But this "discovery" that they made allowed them to cast magic WITHOUT rune stones; isn't that something that only people who were exposed to the Stone of Jas could do?

i see every1 has great ideas and have done their research great topic

this might be nothing but even without the south marker i lined up the plces on the front page and they seem to intersect at the digsite might be nothing though

Care to explain that comment?

How can a bunch of locations interdect at the digsite (not saying your wrong or they can't, just want to know how).

For who/what Jas is. I see two possibilities. You can take the obvious meaning of the oracles words (which is rarely a good idea) and assume Jas is an elder God (which is possible because we know the elder Gods did exist and may still exist). The seoncd interpretation is that Jas is an event. This would be like saying 'the big bang left a black hole behind'. This woudl mean the stone of Jas is the product of some (cataclysimic) event.

If I may state what I think the stone of Jas actualy is. There was a series (Young Wizards) I read. And in it they talked about some kind of (world) kernal. This kernal controlled the place/place/world it existed on/in. I think the stone of Jas may be some kind of kernal for gielinor, making it the perfect tool to shape a world, and giving it near omni potent power while in the Gielinor plane.

But this "discovery" that they made allowed them to cast magic WITHOUT rune stones; isn't that something that only people who were exposed to the Stone of Jas could do?

Yes. It can't just have been essence rocks; they gained magical powers, and then later decided to bind them into the essence rocks. Besides, essence rocks are only created when the rock is exposed to the stone of Jas for a while.

The stone of Jas has been moved many times. It has been in the essence cave on Moonclan isle, in the secret essence location that you are teleported to, in the Fist of Guthix cave (probably) and in Juna's cave (probably). So maybe the Gods moved it from moonclan to "the north" when the fremenik seer found it, but didn't notice/weren't around when the group of humans in the story found it.

Jasmonates are a group of plant hormones which regulate plant growth and development...

Likely to be just another name for Guthix then, or simply a name that guthix gave the stone.

[hide=The discovery of runes]

Hmm you do have a point there, they could cast magic without the aid of runes... Well I can't think of any other explanation than the Stone of Jas... but keep in mind that that doesn't mean there is no other explanation. We shouldn't use this as a fact in our further speculations and theories, as we might be wrong.

EDIT: Wow that post went a little weird... :?

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).

I just read through the entire Ghostly Robes conversation provided by Randox, and there were no mention of Wyrms, only a single mention, in passing, of "dragon riders" being in Zamoraks honor guard along with Viggora. That said, I don't think there is anything that adds to the story of the dragonkin in the ghostly robes miniquest, except for the off-chance that it happens in the first 7 chat boxes.
