I should stop pushing my (correct) beliefs on others though rofl

Some people prefer it. Anyway he did ask for the Quickest method.

Exp between 63-85: 368,599-3,258,594= 2889995 exp.

2889995/50=57799,9 coal ores. You can mine around 250 coal per hour on average. So it would take 231 hours for 85 mining. You make 10,288,382gp

2889995/65=44461 gold ores You can mine around 180 gold per hour on average. So it would take 247 hours for 85 mining. You make 23,608,791gp

2889995/37,5=77067 iron ores You can powermine 900 iron per hour on average. So it would take 85,6 hours for 85 mining. You make 0 gp. However you save time compared to coal and gold.Coal 145,6h.Gold 161,4h.

In the time you save you could mine rune ore. You can mine 28 rune ore per hour on average.

In 145,4h you could mine 4071 rune ore, and in 161,4h you could mine 4519 rune ore.

Rune ore is selling at 18k ea.4071x18,000=73,278,000gp

4519x18,000=81,342,000gp

Yeah powermining is really an epic fail, you make 63m more compared to coal in the same time and 58m compared to gold.

Powermining granite is around 55k exp per hour so it would be your best bet , and it would take only 52,5 hours.

I highly advice to powermine as it saves you money and time.

@Troa

wut?

Hey, I don't mean to pick on you, or to offend. If that is your view, you are more than entitled to it.

However, when the title of the post is "Quickest way to get 85 mining" why post such views?

Powertraining is undoubtably the quickest way to train skills. You may not agree that it is the best, but surely you will appreciate it is the quickest?

Hence you may understand my confusion. The OP has clearly specified that they WANT to powertrain - they have chosen to ask for the fastest way. So why come onto the post specifically to make comments about how youthink powertraining is stupid.

People do have different views and if i recall, this is not the first time you have posted your views about powertraining when people have asked for the quickest methods :|

Again, I mean no offence, I simply want to point out that if that is how you feel then there is no need to post it into every related topic in this area of the forums.

Hey, Jay, go read, dont be so ignorant.

I think I've stated millions of times why I hate powertraining cause it is a serious epic fail.

so that's how you get your post count, you "answer" the question and then start dissing other people's answers?

on topic:

definatly go with granite, just watch some movies and listen to music at the same time and it won't be to bad, as for the spot, pick the on with 2 sand stone and 2 granite next to eachother

like this:

(s) x (g)

(s) x (g)

you stand in either of the x's and just mine 2 then mine one , drop one, mine one, drop one, mine one, drop one

Runescape isn't useful at all. It's all about having fun, and that's different for everyone. The best we can do at help and advice is provide them with all the available options and support why those are good. After that, it's up to the original poster to decide what he/she should do.

No, you're right, it's not.

But why do people complain about things being slow, switch to something hellaciously boring and do that the rest of their time?

I *still* honestly dont understand why people want to powertrain.

Fine if its to a level which gives a heap of cash, which in this case i noticed it does - rune ore.

But to 99? I dont get it.

Especially people with full void ranging yaks saying they want 99 range..

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Ogres are fine imo, you actually get drops from them unlike yaks.

Cmon someone tell my why people get 99 range at yaks? They probably never use their 99 range anywhere else unless they do some pvp and they barely ever do. :?

I dont need a siggy no moar.

People want their 99 capes faster ,so they could move on next skill or get an achivement.

For example: you could mine runite ore from 85-99,and you would need 78207 ores. You would make 1,407,726,000gp.But it would take you 2793 hours. If you powermined granite it would take only 177 hours.Simply the most profitable ways take just too long people to do them, no one would enjoy mining runite 116 days 24/7, and if you play only 4 hours per day it would take 696 days. This isn't the case in most of the skills , but some people still prefer the faster way as they don't have much time in their hands. Some people have better ways to get money so training skill with normal training would actually hurt more their gp/h ration , so basically they powertrain to get faster cash.

Especially people with full void ranging yaks saying they want 99 range..

People play for different reasons, with different goals, aspirations, playing styles, playing lengths, reasons, everything. Some people strive for efficiency, they want efficiency in everything they do, to be as good statistically and bank value as possible. Some play a relaxed game, doing what they feel like as the wind blows, Some play only to pk, skill one skill, talk with friends, any other reason you can think of, some people play for that reason. You play your way. Other people play their way. Your goal might be efficiency, so be it, and mention to people how they can be more efficient, or how your playing style is different, but your playing style is not the be all and end all of everything. Some people want a 99 just to show off to their friends, for the feeling of accomplishment, for something to do whilst chatting to friends, for many, many more reasons than i or you can think of. Some people like to make money, some people don't care, they just want xp. I personally shark fish a lot. I know damn well it's bad cash, bad xp, and i can do a HELL of a lot better in every way with my stats - never mind training a skill i'm already maxed out on. But it doesn't matter, i enjoy it, so i do it. That migth be wrong in your eyes, but frankly i don't give a [bleep], because my accoutn is mine, not yours, i imagine you'd fish monkfish; and that's not better or worse, yes it's better xp, maybe even cash, but it's not better for ME because i don't want to be doing that. It's better for you, not for me.

This guy wants level __ as fast as possible. Just because you care about this and that doesn't mean he does. He, evidently, does not have the same goals or training style as you. I also doubt he cares. People do it because they want to, or they don't know better. So advise them of better, or different ways, and if they do not change their mind; evidently their playing style is not the same as yours.

If people want to range yaks to 99 range very quickly, that's what the ywant to do, for their reasons. I personally would find that boring as a pile of crap, so like you, i don't do it. But i powertrained cook to 99 back in th day, beause i really wanted 99 cooking (before capes existed, i just wanted to see "99"). Sure i can't do anything after 99, but in the end the whole damn thing is pointless.

I'm being as honest and kind as possible, but it's gettin old, just accept the fact other people are not you. Everybody likes to do their own thing. If it doesn't hurt you, advise, and move on, don't hammer your beliefs into everybody.

As for the thread starter, granite all the way - best familiar you can use that boosts mining, mine and drop, use the tiara or a bunch of waterskins and humidify lunar spell. And be careful, you don't want RSI, know your limits :P

I *still* honestly dont understand why people want to powertrain.

This will be the last post I make in this topic, but I believe its necessary.

To put it rather simply, there is NOTHING to understand. You recognize that power-training is significantly faster than any other training methods, do you not? (I believe you have stated this) You acknowledge that fact yet you still do not "understand" why people power-train. It is for that exact reason, FASTER exp gains.

Since you understand that power-training is faster exp, you are pretty much arguing for the sake of arguing. Whether you realize it or not, which obviously you haven't, you already know WHY people power-train.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Yes, powermining granite. Period. And use a rune pick. At least until they fix the clay tools so they actualy GIVE AN XP BONUS, then it's up to you if you want to sacrifice time to get it/speed of mining for extra xp.

Now this is not meant to jump in and bash you but why do you hate Kent so much?

And to the person that actually said something about post count, stop making such accusations as they are usually false and dont really make sense. I realize that some people like to think that post count is the cruise control to popularity but in this case there was no reason to bring it up.

Morphic tools only give a 5% bonus, and take exactly 20 minutes (one game) to obtain.

BUT, they have the power of a bronze pickaxe.

I might test it later, but I'm busy fishing just now, but rune is win for now.

1) Satisfaction. They just want that level, because it makes them feel good.

2) Massive cash pile. They want 99 because of the above reason, and don't need the money.

3) The skill is fun. Believe it or not, there are people who are different than you. They might just train the skill because they like it.

4) Maxing. A select few people just want the skill to be over with as fast as possible, because otherwise they're stuck with a few skills not at 99.

If this doesn't make you see my point, I wont try to convince you anymore.

Ray, give it a rest. I agree with you to a point. I wouldn't want to power mine to get my mining up. That is not the point though. This person is asking the quickest way to power mine. If they want to power mine to get a level up, what is it to you? You sound like a Nazi. As mentioned. People play for different reasons. People enjoy playing different ways. I fail to see how this person wanting to power mine and do it in the most effecient way affects you or your game.

Yeah Jay I think I know the reasons why they do it i just dont get the.. well, I just dont get how they feel good about 99 in a skill when all they have is the cape.

Yes I know having a skillcape in a long and tiring task like mining is rare, and very good, but still..

@Monkey, if I sounded like a nazi, I'd: one, make a noise, and two, be racist. :P

And it effects me cause by powertraining skills everything is so high :(

Anyway one thing I agree with you people is that this is way off topic and I did try to prevent myself from posting but everyone just posting the same damn things is irritating.

way to spam that post count up!!

just get over it don't get mad at others just because you don't like their answers, grow up and gtfo k? why powermine? Because people enjoy powermining more then banking all their ores? They won't lose alot of time banking either so They'll be able to mine more a day, either that or they want it to be over ASAP so they take the quick way out, then theres another option they just quickly want a lvl so they can continue doing other stuff
