How2PK
I thought 2008 was pretty good. There's so much that it's hard to choose, and then there's so much I don't know of! Anyway, things that I liked (a lot). Sun Kil Moon - April Calexico - Carried to Dust Bob Dylan - Bootleg Series vol. 8: Tell Tale Signs Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend Surivlaams! 60 Nederlandstalige Tophits Uit België en Suriname - A compilation record of songs from Surinam and Flanders, the two have got nothing to do with eachothers, except that the language is 'Dutch'. There's some of the classics, but most of the things is really good and very hard to find. Especially the Belgian songs are great, the songs from Surinam are hilarious, in a good way of course! Marianne Faithfull - Easy Come, Easy Go Grace Jones - Hurricane Matt Elliott - Howling Songs Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Lie Down in the Light Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer Auteur Labels: Les Disques du Crepuscule Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust Katy Perry - One of the Boys the Last Shadow Puppetrs - the Age of the Understatement Autechre - Quaristice Coldplay - Viva la Vida... Santogold - Santogold UNKLE - End Tites...Stories for film Hot Chip - Made in the Dark Ice Cube - Raw Footage Portishead - Third Brian Eno & David Byrne - Everything That Happens Will Happen Today Klaus Schulze & Lisa Gerrard - Farscape Ane Brun - Changing of the Seasons Ry Cooder - I, Flathead Baltic Fleet - Baltic Fleet T.V. on the Radio - Dear Science Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes zZz - Running with the Beast The new Britney Spears album is coming out soon as well, wonder how that is going to sound. The last one was quite alright. And Kanye West is going to release a record as well, but isn't that fully done with autotune? :? What was there that I thought was dissapointing? Maybe the last Tricky album? Maybe Jamie Lidell with Jim? I didn't really like Accelerate, but I'm not much of an R.E.M. man in general so...Thing that I really can't stand: the Eagles, and their last album is impossible to get trough. If you want to torture me, play this one. Most overrated record of the year: Amy MacDonald - This is the Life. She's good looking though. YDG
best album of 2008 for me by far is: all shall perish - awaken the dreamers its completely different to their previous albums if you havnt heard of it, i strongly suggest you do.
assassin_696
Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago was my favourite album of 2008 by far, and possibly of all time. Coming a close second was Fleet Foxes' debut. There've been a lot of great albums otherwise, which I might list later but these have been the two really stand out ones for me. Dreamtongirl
I don't like the new Metallica album very much actually.. Mind you, i'm not much of a fan anyways. Haste the day and Underoath were v good. And yeah, agreeing with Wongtong. I miss Ronnie! He's way better than Craig (the guy w/ teh stubble xD) Craig's cool in Bless The Fall.. But doesn't suit ETF. Kalphite
I've heard many more 2008 albums now. The ones I liked (no particular order): Thrice - The Alchemy Index Vol. III and IV Cynic - Traced in Air Protest the Hero - Fortress Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy (surprisingly good) Steven Wilson - Insurgentes Rise Against - Appeal to reason Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux (make fun of me all you want, it actually was really good) Misery Signals - Controller Draconian - Turning Season Within The Fall of troy - Phantom on the Horizon Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God The Killers - Day and Age Meshuggah - ObZen Underoath - Lost in the Sound of Separation Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good year, though there were some things that were absolutely horrible (new Metallica (though it was expected), Bullet for my Valentine (ugh, I wish i never listened...)). I have yet to hear the new Unearth, Sigur Ros, and Cult of Luna albums. I also am interested in the Gojira album.
