Should I carry on slaying or not..?

Looking at what I have to look forward to with more slayer levels, Really, to be honest, their isn't much any more that I can see will make me much money..

Dust devils - Not likely to get a chain

Abby demons - Sure, whips are a good 1.4mil these days

Dark beasts - Hmm, Dark bows are hardly worth hunting for.

My long term goals are very clear, I want to have the levels to be able to go to the bosses in GWD, and my thoughts were that I could train slayer along side my combat skills, however this is now getting a bit slow on the old exp front now..

So my question to you guys is.. In my shoes, is it WORTH keeping going with my slayer, maybe reaching a high level and getting the odd whip. Or should I go all out and just train my combat the old fasioned way, with the goal of getting to slay those elusive god monsters quicker than the alternative.

Continue with slayer the higher you get the more you will make and it's well worth it at 83+. Not to mention most tasks will drop rune items which do add up when you get 65-83+ slayer.

seeeing as your ultimate goal is not slayer-related... just stop it. You might come back to it later, but leveling slayer is not an obligation. You might regret it, but you can never know. Anyway, slaying at higher combat levels is more fun.

Do the fairy until 100 CB where you can use sumona until 110 or so then duradel is the best from there on.

Slayer is always worth it in my opinion. As your slayer level and combat levels increase you'll see a significant increase in the amount of profit you make from each task and also to answer your other question you should stay at Chaeldar(Lost City) until 100 CB F2P and then move on to Duradel.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Slayer:

-Slower xp rate, even with the black mask

-Little controll over what you kill

-Constantly running around

-Not good cash

-Annoying, especially if you get several bad tasks

Not slayer:

-High xp rate if you powertrain

-Choose what to kill based on drops, xp, and time.

-Stay in the same spot except for banking

-Ability to make money using the time saved from powertraining

-Relaxing and easy

You choose.

Fact: Slayer, at any level, is MUCH worse XP, charms, and cash then other methods of training. See my thread in rants for details. Example:

Slayer with +10% strength:

60k xp, 75k profit per hour

Zombie monkeys:

102k xp, 180k profit per hour.

There are NO good slayer monster worth training on outside of slayer. Zip. Zero. Zilch. So if you want to waste 233m, go ahead and train slayer with the rest of your combat skills. It may pay off someday if you decided to get maxed total level. Other then that, your wasting your time, money, and charms.

Side note: this post is 100% fact, 0% opinion. I personally enjoy training slayer, and plan to continue to do so. However, if you want XP or cash, it's a VERY bad idea.

Zombie monkeys drop only bones and that I'm 99% sure of. You may make alot of xp/hr but it doesn't make up for all the slayer drops your going to miss.

Aye ok, I'm cracking up now, so many opinions and so called facts, I've pretty much got all the info from you lovely guys now, think ill go and act on it.

102k XP\hour + 180k profit registers more as a fact then an opinion. It's really no competition.

I choose you, Pikachu!

No but srsly GTFO you troll I bet your slayer level is -1.

With ring of wealth I find myself constantly getting anywhere from 1-10 awesome drops a task, which includes Rune, Addy (for alching), and other high valued items. Plus a ton of runes, stackables, and sometimes noted items depending on the monster. Truly, you get an insane amount of fire runes.

Dragon Chainbody (dust devil), Dragon Platelegs x2, Dragon Plateskirt x3, Dragon Boots x38, Dragon Med Helm x5, Dragon Spear x3, Shield Left Half x4

Staff of Light x2, Abyssal Whip x16, Dark Bow x17, Granite Maul x17, Focus Sight, Hexcrest x2, Black Mask x4, Leaf-bladed Sword, Mystic x31, Obsidian x13, Brine Sabre x2, Spirit Shield, Dragonstone x5

Remember slayer gets you the mask bonus.

Also slayer points can be turned into more cash if you wish.

Also to put into perspective, a whip is "only" 1.4m. But the kills you need for a whip, say, 500, is like...800k profit in itself if you pick stuff up.

Slayer is GOOD xp, and good profit. Big drops or not. The big drops and a nice bonus, you're still making a lot of cash. And decent charms.

Slay for a week, and bank all your loot in one tab. At the end of the week look at what you have, it'll be more than you thought :P

All those items add to around 75k an hour when you subtract costs for prayer\armor\summons\teleports\time to get new tasks or bank etc. And I've gotten over 100k fire runes, so yes you do get a lot. Except that so far 3260 of them have sold in the GE in the past 3 weeks. I've had to use them for junk -.-

if you are planning on getting a decent cb lvl and then only do GWD for the rest of your life, you should definithely quit slayer. but if you are planning to continue with playing after you been to godwars, you should continue with slayer, or you will waste a lot of xp getting a nice slayer lvl with maxed combat.

for me the answer to your qestionis the answer to the next question:

Do you like training slayer?

If you do, carry on.

If you don't train on something else.

I like it, partly to the fact that I train multiple skills at the same time. gp is not a must for me, because I have enough for my needs (currently <5M). Also, I find whacking away at the same monsters for hours on end is boring. At least when training slayer, I get a change of scenery every <200 montsers.
