Krampell
It would be possible if they added Java to the online browsers. But until then.

Gravy
2. Final Fantasy XI. MMO's can easily be done on consoles. Yeah but prepare to get worse updates because of "platform limitations." :-# If my friends saw RS on XBL they'd all probably just laugh lol. Cool if it'd ever go onto the consoles, but I kinda hope it doesn't. It's nice just being on the pc. Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp. anish00b
Apprantly someone managed to get it on their PSP. However, I guess they were just on the internet -.- really???when was this, have you got a link? and yes the ps3 can let you connect your USB keyboard/mouse so i dont see where the pointing and clicking would be a problem. if not using the controller is quite easy aswell, just surf the web for 20 minutes and you'd get the hang of it. And yes you can install linux/ubuntu on your ps3 but i think that people prefer a less complicated and less time consuming method. im not sure of hte 360 because I haven't got one, but i dont think it would be that hard. signature your as this use backwards this read to enough smart were you if^^^^read backwards^^^^ http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=113&t=757562&p=6009903^^^^The Best Melee Training Spot In The Game^^^^ http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=786213^^^^The new Bandits^^^^ even i have the misfile craze!!! Omali
Apprantly someone managed to get it on their PSP. However, I guess they were just on the internet -.- Runescape doesn't resize below 800x600 (as far as I'm aware, it still doesn't), the PSP is 480x272, you would see half of the screen. The PSP also has 4mb of ram, would never run Runescape.
3hitm4g3u
Even though Jagex probably wouldn't add voice detection, if they did, I'm sure we'd all be perm-muted in a matter of days. Lol, probably.
mervinator_9
Andrew spoke about this over a year ago and said "it's already possible, and it wouldn't take much work" so yes, I think next year (2009) you'll see it. Considering you can install Linux on a PS3 already lol. Thank God. It was starting to think i was the only one who had heard about this (or imagined it) So technically Rs can be run off a PS3 right now, I think. As far as i can tell you need to install Linux in your PS3 and then install Java and your pretty much set and ready to go. Cant say I've tried it, or know anybody who has, but the theorys sound and I've heard rumours of it being done. Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.
Amundogus2
Never... Jagex are money-grubbing bastards, and to do this, it would cost a LOT of money. To put it another way, Jagex refuses to spend enough to hire decent a decent Beta Testing team, so what makes you think that they would be willing to spend money on a re-write from the ground up? Money-grubbing bastards? Have you seen the Jagex employee survey thread in this forum? What did they do to make themselves money-grubbing bastards? "There are only two strategies in war. So there really is no need for a beta testing team when they can get us to do it for them. cool_DK_boy
Nobody needs to think about recoding RS. Like said, it is possible to put a bootable version of Ubuntu linux and run it from there. After that Java can be installed, a mouse/keyboard plugged in, and then just run RS like normal. As for the xbox 360 i'm not sure.

firsttsurugi
interesting question. if they put it on xbox would they still have the members pay even tho its five bucks for xbox live? Yes. No freebies because you're giving your 5/6 bucks to a different company! It is easily possible to play on the PS3, as so many others have stated. The real question is how the could do it for the other consoles (yes, that's how it's spelled, not "councils", that's a group of people that give people advise, or that is at least a rough definition of council). Currently will be using my Oni Tsurugi account to attempt to get 99 on all free skills without spending any gp, just for the sake of doing so. me
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=167285 Runescape on console "tempting", says MMO's creator Thursday 5-Jul-2007 12:48 PM Console version of the popular browser-based fantasy MMO is "something we keep considering", Andrew Gower tells CVG Runescape developer Jagex has revealed a console version of its browser-based fantasy MMO is something it keeps considering, the arrival of Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 making such more tempting than ever before. "It's certainly more interesting with the current generation of consoles of course because they're far more internet-connected than the previous generation and it just wasn't worth looking at", the game's creator Andrew Gower told CVG recently. "But with the PS3 and Xbox 360 and the Wii, it's much more tempting, I have to say". Talking about PS3 specifically, Gower said that Jagex could probably get Runescape running on the machine right now, adding overall that "Technically porting the game to different platforms isn't a huge amount of work." However, he explained the reason the developer's "slightly reluctant" to bring the MMO to too many different platforms "is because the more platforms that we're on, the more we have to update in parallel and that would slow us down." "We've always tried to be a very agile company whereby if the players say they want something, or there's something not quite right, we'll fix it there and then", Gower said. "We're loath to lose the rapid response... that we've got at the moment, and the more platforms we go to the more than happens, so it's a bit of a trade off." Gower said there was nothing he could talk about at the moment regarding actual plans to bring Runescape to console. The game, which consists of both free and subscription versions, recently hit one million subscribers and boasts over 5 million active players. So Andrew said RuneScape on consoles was tempting. And of course with the new graphics update it'd be more competitive. However, in terms of their recruitment strategy (what job vacancies they put out) I've seen nothing to indicate they are working on a console port of RuneScape (although it seem like they might be mooting it for ThirdScape). Jagex has a high-ranking employee with experience in digital convergence, but that is probably more to do with their plans of launching FunOrb for mobile phones. Note the line "Technically porting the game to different platforms isn't a huge amount of work". Andrew is a coding genius but isn't the best when it comes to judging how hard things are. He thought he'd get clan support and player owned houses into the game early, and they both ended up taking much longer. Similarly, Andrew stated "I could have removed unbalanced trade at any time, it's just a few lines of code" - when that it seems to have been much harder than that. Then they intended for RuneScape to translate French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese by 2006, and that wasn't as easy as they expected either. Oh, and FunOrb took longer than expected too. I believe RuneScape has been made to work on Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3.
