ghoulmeister
I decided to play FoG today because people said it was fun and decent to train. So I go there. The first two rounds, never even spotted my opponent, the first one went on for 5 minutes, and somehow i won. The second round I think the person quit, it ended in about 15 seconds. Third round: I get paired up with a level 98. Normally I would say this is ridiculous, but their stats are supposed to be reduced. So I go to the middle, find him, and take about 3 minutes to kill him. Then I get to collect energy. He doesn't find me for a while, but when he does, 3 hits, and I'm dead. I lose. Fourth round: I get paired with a level 65. Thinking this is my chance to win fairly, I seek him quickly. I find him near the center. So I attack. And this person, who only has 53 defense, who should have been reduced by the effect, and who was not using any prayer, I can not hit him. At all. I land about 11 0's before I hit him for 5. And that was my only hit. Then HE kills ME in THREE shots using MAGIC, while I am praying against magic and am wearing full mystic with no metal armor. I just quit after that, because the is the absolute epitome of bad and unbalanced gaming. To summarize, provided you can even find your target within the hundreds of people in the center, it is impossible to kill them within reasonable time, if at all. To top it all off, the game has some fantastic awards! Yeah, and I have to play 200 games to get any of them because it is impossible for me to win, for some reason. I has herd, that lesser demons, MAY or may not, drop tormented demons. \:D/  :x :D :o  :? 8-) Due to a typo, I am now stuck with 1k dragon darts and no buyer. Sid Icarus
Fourth roundYou were the hunter, right? Edit: I forgot that only the hunter is able to use magic, so obviously you were the hunted. :? Therefore, I see nothing wrong with the situation, since you're not supposed to kill the hunter. See, you can't use spells while being hunted, therefore you were attacking him while being the hunted. fat_klutz
I agree. The game can be enjoyable if you are matched up against a similar level of equal skill but there is no skill level that can overcome a 30 level defense difference and one players ability to pray when another can't. The rewards I find (except maybe rc gloves) really aren't worth the hassle either. Maybe if it was based on level and 'skill' I would play it more but as it is now there is no point for me to waste 2 hours fighting level 100's for some gloves. This is from a F2P standpoint. Maybe things are more balanced in P2P.... And please don't say "I've beaten someone 40 levels higher than me!!!". You haven't. You beat a moron. If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature. ^^^At least I'm not the only crazy one

fat_klutz
Look I don't play a lot but I fail to even see how there is a lot of strategy. The outside rings give basically no charges. If you survived out there for the entire 10 minutes you still would only have the same amount of charges are someone who was in the middle for like 1 minute. Second, if you are attacking someone and they teleport, you follow them. It doesn't make you lose aggro so unless you click somewhere else your going to find you person again really quickly. Third, the houses are really not good for hiding in. They are just annoying. Standing in the middle you can see basically every exit aside from one or two to the outside rings, but like I said before. Who cares if your prey runs there. They get basically no charges. Maybe I'm not naive but I really don't see how any 'strategy' can make up for a level difference. And compfreak, you have lost 4 times?? Your (basically) maxed out. You are kind of proving my point I think. You are kind of proving my point I think. I've played 50+ games, and won the vast majority of them, including ones against highly ranked and skillful players with better stats then myself. Just because I'm almost maxed doesn't mean I'm better then everyone else there. Strategy? Ever used terrain dodging, for example? If you time your clicks right, you can dance around a house with an opponent for 20+ seconds. Switching to a far house quickly can keep you out of your opponents magic spell range, where you can dodge and get him trapped on one of the corner obstacles, before running back to the center and heading for the far edge of the far house. There's far too many stratagems to list here (hence the guides about it), but suffice to say that I'm pretty good at it yet I have been beaten by far lower levels. Wisp
Fog is the easiest minigame pretty much. All you do is find a good hiding spot, where no one ever looks. I'll keep where i hide to myself, and then just wait. if they find you, run away, try to get out of their sight, then teleport to the center. You should get enough charge to beat them. Next round, just dds spec them then use ancients. That's what I do. I, at level 95 ish have easily beaten people in the 130s. Roseiah
I was the same as you, when I first played FoG I hated it, because I just didn't understand how to play it. I never went near it for a good few months and then when I needed to raise my runecrafting level, I saw that to save me a lot of trouble I should get the gloves. I read a few guides on how to play, and after making mistakes and learning a method that suits me I loved the game, and that was just on F2P. So I suggest, read some guides on it, and just give it a go. Try every method that the guides suggest, find one that suits you for when you are both the hunted and the hunter. You will be surprised when you find out that you can beat the majority of players no matter what their level. And if that doesn't work, well just don't play the game. FoG is a tactical mini-game and some people are good at tactics, evading and capturing their enemy and winning the game based on skill not levels, while others just aren't any good at it. Your target has an arrow above their head on the minimap and on the in game screen 2. There are popular places where people hide (ie behind certain rocks, at the edge of the map, at the edge of houses and in the middle) It very rarely takes me more than a couple of clicks to find my target. 3. With 200 games it is possible to get well over 2000 tokens, at your level you would be unlucky to not get enough points for dragon gauntlets in ~40 games. And in my opinion it's one of the best mini games out there - magic exp, pvp practice and little waiting to start a game. Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
