January 12, 200917 yr Author [hide=]wow i use hide tags and it doesn't even work :wall:  #-o =D> =D> =D> .... "quote saif's previous post"[/hide] My pic was all in one day, 1.6m was that huge merchanting log in one or 2 days? :anxious: about 10 hrs tbh from 10 am - 8pm
January 12, 200917 yr Author i was never any good at merchanting so i hate u all!!!!! did you ever try :?:
January 12, 200917 yr it comes under item scamming (i think) but price manipulation is definately 100% against the rules. p.s Damn my spelling is bad today. price manipulation is only illegal on the RS forums. you can run around varrock yelling "everyone keep your santas so prices rise" all you want. if i was interested in playing RS again, i'd definitely be screwing around with the GE prices. i have the funds to do it, just not the motivation. I've done it a bit in the past, but nothing too significant.
January 12, 200917 yr You might want to change your title from merchenting to merchanting. Anyways price manipulation cant be stopped. you can get a bunch of ppl irl and manipulate the GE price and jagex wont know about it. there really isnt much they can do either. buying limits do help but if u have a lot of people u can still manipulate the price.
January 12, 200917 yr I seen someone post on the previous page that when it comes to a merchanting clan dumping it always fails. I answer your question for you, in a completely different way and I will tell you Why the dump time fails. Right, where do we start. Okay, a clan buys out an item which was the by the clan administrators. Everyone buys and soon solo merchants soon take on because they see a chance for profit. Okay, great, we're all making profit and when we dump the solo merchants are the only ones that gets messed up. Now, the people in the channel are the ones that cause the problem, the early dumpers that is. The problem THEY cause and why the item fails is because, take for example it's set in the channel/clan chat that they're to be dumped at "X" price. Those EARLY DUMPERS only think of themselves and decide to dump there items say, a day before it's set. Solo merchants then, that are still buying, and those clan merchants that are still buying realise that the item's coming through the Grand Exchange relatively easy. "Okay, guess it's time to dump" the solo merchants say. The merchants in the channel, the actual smart ones that aren't doing it just for themselves notify an admin in the channel and measures will be taken to stop the dump going so bad. The problem is the merchants inside that dump early, they put there's into the Grand Exchange for UNDER max, anyone buying them then stop, pop there offers back into the Exchange for med price and under because they're buying for max (Say it's a raw material or something). When the item's set then in the channel beacuse of these early dumpers and the item not being easy to sell at max EVERYONE has to put there offers in for medium and below. If it had of went as planned, everyone's items would be put in at max meaning they won't be unable to sell. And that's why pre-dumpers FAIL! I've always tried my hardest in the channel's I help found to make sure there's no predumpers in it and I take the necessary measures to make sure whoever did it is found and banned. Is that okay, or do you need to know anything else? RIP Michaelangelopolous
January 12, 200917 yr You pretty much just highlighted the risks of clan merchanting. But to be honest, I merchant to make max profit for myself, not for others. I couldnt really care less if a merchanting clan leader made a huge loss as long as I sold my items early. You'd be hard pushed to find many RS peoples who care about the cash of clan merchants as much as their own pile. Having said that tho, i stay way clear of items being manipulated by a clan.
January 12, 200917 yr I do it once in a while (just solo merching) but I'm not focused enough on it to make huge profits. Recently lost 15M to masterwands, so my merhcing of the last 2 weeks has been ruined again... Anyway, I've got Around 250M cash to play with. How much should I be making a day? (solo merching). January 12, 200917 yr Everything fixes itself over time, if someone wants to buy a ton of things and sell them I don't see why they shouldn't. Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Oscar Wilde
January 12, 200917 yr So how does one solo merch. Do you just check the database for commonly traded items and see which ones are going up? Or is it better to buy stuff like water runes at under med overnight and sell under max next day? :?

I'm happy If I make like a 5M deal, which takes mostly a few days). I think I personally wait to long. When I see an item is going up, I mostly keep it, instead of selling it for max, and rebuying it for a bit above med. I guess... A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

January 12, 200917 yr Difficult question, but tbh i earnt and still earn my money killing and skilling, and i'm proud to say i've never merchanting, so grand exchange doesn't really affect me just makes it easier for me to sell supplies, Miss Private Chat is allways ON, So please feel free to add me, I allways enjoy a good conversation and Im also a very good listener.

January 12, 200917 yr Merchanting is quite easy and it takes little or no skill to preform if you have the items up hand always. For all you whom fear it i will dispatch it down to simple words so it won't seem so hard and useless. A note to that if you want to make quick and big profit you always need at least 4m worth of to even make it successful. 1. Learning to predict prices The prices go up and down and from the 7-day chart you only have two lines the Daily Value and the 5-Day Value the 5 Day Value will be of great importance continuing on... If the lines were to cross at any point it indicates that the price will surely increase. This will happen overnight as the Grand Exchange updates at 12:00am. For example; if the lines were originally going down and crossed they will gradually go up and vice versa. The reason the 5 day line is important because when it starts to rise in about a day or so the price will gradually go down so you have to make the best of your predicting skils and sell it at the right point or else depending on how much the price is and how much you are willing to sell (e.g Rune plate going for 50k and you have 100 of them but then it drops to 47k the next day). You will lose 30k considering yourself in this situation. When merchanting it is good to find a popular and a high priced item that is going down as it will be cheaper so buying it now and saving it in the future can make you quite a bit of money depending on the item. Though it may look slow but when combined with several other items, the profit you have made can equal up to 100k at the least if you merchant right
January 12, 200917 yr It's probably the best viable way to make money nowadays, but buying alot of dharok's like that will buy out a little of the market, considering there will be only a few hundred on the exchange at one time, raising the price a little So, really I'm stuck on which is the most moral option :wall: 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
January 12, 200917 yr i was never any good at merchanting so i hate u all!!!!! did you ever try :?: I made about 300k on v helms back in august. Didn't like it so I stopped it

Of course you will buy at Wednesday and sell on Saturday as the price will have gone higher and you will get the money you bought it at before but with like a 10k added bonus so it depends what item it is, how fast can you get it etc.
January 12, 200917 yr Your basiclly scamming the system and no disregard for the damage to make some quick cash, way to go  =D> First of all I'd like to point out that merching in general isn't as quick as most people think. I as a solo mercher check prices of specific items on a daily basis. I make sure I keep track of the daily change in value, and in case I miss an update due to my absence I make sure I get the data from someone else. I keep track of all this information in an Excel filesheet, including graphs. Besides that I check the forums every hour that I'm online for items that I expect to be merching in the coming week to check the number of sellers and buyers of this specific items in the last 'x' hours, and the price they are willing trading it for. By doing all this I'm trying to discover a certain pattern in price changes, because usually these patters re occur every once in a while. I've been doing so or a while now and got loads of data that can be very useful, as long as you know how you should approach this data. You should understand however that I don't think for just a minute about an item and then buy it to make some nice money, it takes a lot of time for many people to analyse the situation and then make a decision which item is best to merchant at which times. Therefore I feel, saying merching is 'quick cash' is a term I don't find very relevant in this case, merching is by far not always quick, it takes time and dedication. --- The second thing I would like to point out is that you name merching basically means that you are scamming the system. Scamming has a very negative connotation, and even though I can understand that seeing an item that you've recently bought drop in value can be quite annoying, I don't think merchanting deserves this negative arousal around it. The GE-system was developed by Jagex, it probably took them months of thinking it out, working it out, and then checking it to make sure it worked like they wanted. By implementing trade limits and knowing that thousands of players used merchanting before that to make their money, it would've been absolutely ridiculous of them to think that those merchanters would not move onto something else, what goes around comes around. After months of developing they came up with the GE-system as we know it today. It was a very fierce change for almost any player, but especially for those that made money from merchanting items. Merchanters, like many other type of players, are quite flexible in what they do. Whe got a new totally new system on our plates, so we took a lot of time analyzing the new system to find out if there were ways to make make money out of it, and above all be able to do what we love to do, merchanting. It took some time but by now many know how they can merchant again and ge-merchant guides are growing in numbers, we got a new system, but we've adapted to it. Merchanters are eager for money and will always find ways to get more of it. Off course I agree that merchanting by just trading people directly ingame didn't influence prices as much as they do now with trade limits and the GE watching over our items, but that's a 'error' in Jagex' system, not in merchanter's way of to make money. One more thing I'd like to add to this is why people would have millions of gp in their bank, just sitting there, if they could invest it in something and make a little more gp, while they are doing their daily chores.
January 12, 200917 yr I merchant...a lot, have for years and will continue to do so because there is no one correct way to play Runescape. In my years I've yet to meet a single person who is "anti merchanting" that is so out of any virtue but rather because they are being affected directly by other people's merchanting. These people then post on forums (Such as these) about the moral obligations of people and how merchanting ruins the game...for them. These people are only angry because they have been personally affected by merchanting, these people are acting strictly out of self interest...the same self interest they are accusing us of. I've been a merchant for over 5 years, people have been complaining about us the entire time and yet today merchanting is more rife in this game than ever before. This simply is not an argument that people who are anti merchanting are going to win.
January 12, 200917 yr I remember when Jagex said in a BTS about Smoking Kills and something to add to slayer. Black Mask were like 300k ea and I was like "Lol Black Mask gonna go up". I said that to Lightning chat (Old forsakenmage) and everyone was like na they won't go up. 1 week later they were 700k ea and selling max instant. Nub lightning chat -.-

This simply is not an argument that people who are anti merchanting are going to win. I agree with that as our Economy is going down very harshly and people are losing jobs because things at "Work" go slow so they require less people to do things and save money. We can all see this if we look out the window at gas prices as you see them at 76 cents/litre where they used to be $1.40/litre. This shows that for some unknown reason our Economy has gone down. There are a few theories i think that are the cause behind this: 1: Global Warming With each passing year the hole in the ozone layer continues to grow as due to Human activites and we need the ozone layer to keep away the cosmic rays the sun throws down to earth. As times zones are going faster and such. 2: Self opposed People may not buy things as much as they used to due to self opposed reasons and due to the fact that it's the middle of winter and people do not bother to go out in the cold to get necessities. 3: World wide issues As all of you may have know there is a War between the U.S. and Pakistan as they refuse to do what the U.S. say and go against the Muslims co-cohabiting their country where the U.S is bombing their country and such. They also hid India's 4 most wanted in their country i beleive this was a immigration mistake.
