January 10, 200917 yr Here is a funny story I would like to tell you Tip.it'ers. 2 Days before my holiday, I got scammed (or "hacked"). My account was stolen and I discovered this only 2 weeks after. This was because I had gone holiday and I had no internet connection. Anyway, I think I'm doomed because, two weeks is enough to reset Recovery Questions, PIN, Password and everything. I log back in, to discover, he (or she) hasn't changed Recovery Question, but only my password. OK, I think to myself, "what about my bank". My bank has been rearranged neat and tidy, with more items than I had before. Including a tidy sum of 2K dragon darts. (Dont ask me !) In addition to this, I have about 20 more Quest Points, my skills are up and added to that a few extra million. I mean really ! (Is this the right forum?) EDIT: Every time you read this thread change the word scammer to "hacker". That term is applied very liberally today, so it is open to interpretation. Hopefully this will prevent some, eh...less than intelligent responses.

He was pretty smart to know how to "hack" you. Regardless if he changed recovs, you can use the old ones to recover the account. I never said he "hacked" me read the post. I was scammed, (stupid on my part, I admit)

It was just a lame phishing site.

January 10, 200917 yr Simply visiting a page won't give you a virus. No, but visiting a page can give a hacker a direct link to your computer making it easier to attack and bypass securites measures and implant an key logger (this is based on the theory the webpage is directly set up for hacking).

Err, he'll get your IP address and not much else. That'll let him try to run some port scanners and crack your windows password, but even with the default windows config a patched system won't let him do anything. Your not going to get keylogged from visiting a web page, obviously he did something stupid like downloading a virus without antivirus software or entering his password somewhere he shouldn't.
