I really don't like slayer, because it's just slow and pretty annoying to train. One factor of my hate for slayer is Infernal Mages. I just hate their fire blasts, and combined with my horrendous luck, means frequent strings of 8s, their max hit. Add to that the fact that I hit very low on them with melee, due to my bad luck, again. What you get is a huge pain-in-the-[wagon] assignment. Don't forget that they are frequently assigned in numbers greater than 150, and you have a very long, annoying, and a not-very-rewarding task.

 

 

 

I hope that my next task will be something better.

No such thing as luck. Wear mage armor and pray or use BTP. Use prayer and super sets to hit more often.

Don't try to be cheap, bring good food, maybe a bones to peaches tabs or two. I was surprised by their hit rate the first time I had this task, but never had any problem when I'm well prepared.

I wear dragonhide and never get hit. Infernal Mages are one of my favorite tasks actually.

I wear d hide and range them. You can hitch them on 2-3 things in the room, so you shouldn't get hit at all. They are easily a decent assignment.

I understand... Infernal Mages are pretty strong for their level, one time I was killing them for slayer, and browsing the internet/forums while doing so. All of a sudden when I turn back to the RS screen, I somehow got lowered to 8 hp, and boom, it hit an 8 before I could react. It was pretty funny... perhaps a bit careless on my part, but I swear that mage must have taken at least 30-40 hp from me. I was wearing dhide and everything too.

Everyone has the same probability of a drop, so far as we know. So he should have said "my sample range was too low to show any accurate results; I interpreted it as 'bad luck', not knowing that I simply didn't have a big enough view"

Slayer can be a pain, which is why I've played for 3-4 years and have just now trained slayer. As far as bad luck, I have found that wearing high strength bonuses (especially black mask) not only raises your max hit, but it also seems to make you hit higher more often than without the extra bonus.

 

 

 

Just wear black dragonhide or void knight armour. Also try to use black masks (doesn't matter if it's charged or not) and try to use a whip if possible (plus rune defender).
