Dragon Claws or Dragon Dagger (p++), which do you prefer?

I was recently watching a fight between a lvl 116 and a lvl 112. The 112 had d claws and the 116 had a dds. The 116 attacked first and killed the 112 with only 2 specs. So which multiple hitting weapon do you prefer? Dragon Claws or Dragon Dagger? :ohnoes:

Unless DDS was 200 gp, then Im sure we would have over 9000 hitpoints and weapons that hit 500s.

claws, simply because you only need the luck for a good hit, for one. the rest of the hits are on a formula based off hit one

 

dagger needs to get 2 hits, which on hgih def players/monsters is unreliable

Forget the whole 'accuracy\max hit' debate

 

D claws dish out, on average, far more damage per second. There's simply no comparison. Cost is totally a personal thing, but there is no question whatsoever of which is a better speccing weapon.

Put 2 guys same stats same everything, no armor, one have d claws the other dds, See who wins. I bet by the time Mr DDS is done with his final spec Mr Dclaw will already have spec'd twice and melee'd about 3 times if not already killed him.

I so totally think you're right. I wish i had invested in them as soon as they came out...my friend bought 11 min price around midday the day they came out.

 

 

 

I know the d claws spec is way better than the dds, plus it has a better str bonus. That kinda settles it. The only thing is when i wanna poison a monster that is hard to kill, else claws almost always win.

 

 

 

Although, one could take both and use two dds specs to poison and 1 claws spec to get a good hit. Or just use all dds specs and wait for the spec bar to come back and use claws spec.

Dude i know and i'm not disputing that, just saying that 2 hits 25% of bar = 8 hits total with the whole bar, and 4 hits with 50% of bar = 8 hits with total bar. what i said was completely correct, because i said Nothing about how much they'd hit. :P

I have both. I've used both in pvp. D claws by far are MUCH Better. Only problem is, even if you're having a normal fight people will protect melee when you switch to claws :?. Unlike dds, where most just hope to not get k0ed. Claws seems to rarely do the 0-0-0-1, especially when you're geared up, piety, super pots. So it always hits 20+, again, unlike dds it hits WAY more often.

well thanks for killing my hopes and dreams of getting dclaws. Guess i should start gearing up towards that quest cape so i can do WGS and kill tormenteds and [hopefully] get my own...only a months work :wall:

Well, i'm not 100% but last i checked you still have a chance of poisoning even with 0-0 specs or just hitting 0 normally w/o the specs

@dpattle: The reason I think the dds is better for pvm lies in the fact that (slayer) monsters generally have little to no defense which makes the dds's higher max the better choice. However, it could also be argued that the use of 2 d claw specs + 2 hits with a whip > 4 dds specs. I think I'll test this out on my current slayer assignment (black demons) and, if I remember, post the results here.

 

 

 

@1245780: I am pretty sure you have to do damage to poison. I have never heard of anyone doing otherwise and any guide that mentions the use of poison, in my experience, also mentions that damage must be done for the poison to take affect.
