New Hitpoints Bar in the making? (with picture evidence)

While it may be a hint (and I'd love to see the hitpoints bar updated) keep in mind that the picture isn't really a screen capture from the game.

For example, if you look a Jad's front foot you can see that one of his toes has the lava on top of it, one toe has the lava underneath it, and one toe pokes through the lava and out the other side.

The whole thing is most likely just something that an artist threw together, so I wouldn't put too much faith in anything that you see there.

To me little graphical updates like this, while helpful just mean less resources spent on customer support.

No, it doesn't.

The people who design things like this are in a completely separate department. Also, not every worker is suited for every task. For example, you might not want someone in charge of Graphics Design treat with you in customer service, because they could be terrible people with terrible people skills.

^ Similarly you don't want someone from CS working on graphics.

You'd just get the same thing plastered all over Runescape. Probably saying "Your ban appeal has been rejected"..

Nice find  Didn't notice it when I first read through postbag. It kinda fits the style of the graphic updates so far so it's a possibility.

It does look a little more detailed.

Jagex's pictures are always fuzzy because they save them as jpg images. #-o

I want them to start saving them as png's. :P

Anyway, I wouldnt mind a new hp bar.

I wonder how long it took them to figure out how many roosters it would take to kill jad. :-k

The HP bar is not different. What you are seeing is an illusion caused by artifacts caused by the JPEG compression of the image. Please lock this thread.

Not so fast. Take a look at the HP bar in this photo. This was saved as a standard JPEG. I don't see the same kind of shading on the HP bar here that I did in that picture.

EDIT: Show me a thread on the RSOF where a Jagex Mod says that this is the cause and then maybe there's some legitimacy to your claim.

I zoomed in on paint. Clearly a bit rounded on the right!

Compression levels can vary, and you'll notice that HP bar is mostly green, whereas the one in the image in question is fully red. The color of the data in question, as well as the colors of the pixels in close proximity to it, can make a vast difference in the final appearance of a decoded image.

EDIT: Actually, now that I look at it, the HP bar in question is approximately 45 pixels long (the JPEG compression makes it impossible to tell for sure), whereas normal bars are 30 pixels. So perhaps a new bar is coming, but beyond lengthening, I doubt they'll do much to it.

That doesn't explain the shading, even if it was compressed for web standards. It wouldn't look shaded. It would look blurry.

The only compression suitable for web standards, in my opinion, is none, or lossless. And that one doesn't look shaded to me. What would help the world is making JPEG illegal for non-photographs in all nations.

I clearly see shading and a bevel there, as well as an overall shorter height to the bar. It's in no way similar to the old HP bar.

But I do say I have to agree with you on making JPEG illegal. Wouldn't that solve everything

I really don't understand why everyone's getting all worked up over a hitpoint bar.

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

To me little graphical updates like this, while helpful just mean less resources spent on customer support.

Because it totally went like this:

"Hey, you wanna unban some innocent players today?"

"Nah. I just finished feeding Bob the cat, broke the game for pkers (lulz), and now I'm gonna work on a new hp bar"

"Why can't you use your time to unban innocent players? Do you not care?"

"no. If they didn't want to be banned, they shouldn't have gotten banned in the first place."

I really don't understand why everyone's getting all worked up over a hitpoint bar.

Because every MMO is chock full of babies who are against any form of change just for the sake of it.

In before "omg now runescape is RUINED"

I lol'd hard. Although I agree with you. I doubt Customer Support and Development team are the same people.

I've heard that it's polar opposite:

"ZOMG NERF ROGUE"

"LULZ HEALERS R OVERPOWERD"

"ARGH BLIZZARD CANT YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT"

That hp bar definitely looks different, and it definitely looks better. This is jagex year for improving the little things after all! Now all we need is for them to make javelins a viable ranged weapon... :wall:

The quest points in the stat pic above this message is wrong, disregard it.

Yeah, everyone loves me!

I'm going to be a stereotypical scaper and say I like the old one better. The darker colour and shading makes this one harder to see, and it generally looks worse. I'm used to the old one. Now if you excuse me, there are some damn kids on my lawn...

2nd troll to 840+ post count.

Looks cool.

It'll probably be a HD update only.

just like the body shape was hd only? yea right they don't want to put forth that much effort to make it 2 different ones

It has a professional look to it, kinda like a modern RTS.

It would quite frankly look out of place in SD.

I thought there was something different with that hp bar. But never imagined to be a new kind.
