February 18, 200917 yr The next language should be RUSSIAN. :)The next language should be wherever they have the most players from. That being said, Dutch is a much more likely candidate. Or what about American English, instead of the British English that is used now? Don't bash me if I used those terms incorrectly, lol. English is English. So what if they spell color with a u? You can still understand it. :P Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
February 18, 200917 yr If it was most players then they would have done Finland first not Germany. Next will be Spanish then probably Dutch, I doubt they'll ever do a Finnish version of RuneScape. Darn, I'm trying to learn Finnish and would probably help. (It's obviously important to know how to say mithril darts (t) in Finnish. Or German for that matter.) On topic, my guess would be Spanish or possibly Italian. What about the character languages such as Chinese?
February 18, 200917 yr If any language was coming next I'd expect it to be Dutch, most players I see that don't speak English to one another are Dutch. From what I've seen, it's the second most common language used apart from, of course, English. I wonder if they have Irish anywhere there for their list of languages to do. RIP Michaelangelopolous
February 19, 200917 yr Mod MMG have Andrew's place of being the head of Jagex, but not the owner. Andrew just like hired someone to his dirty job, managing the financial, publishing and other boring stuff he doesn't want to do, he still works at Jagex but doing what he likes: programming. Veteran Cape Owner (10 year)
February 19, 200917 yr (or "Mods" as they're known in this game, for some unknown reason). Probably because they all have "Mod" at the beginning of their names. Probably. Uhh, what..? I meant the "unknown" part is why they initially called themselves Mods instead of Devs. I'm aware that they've named themselves as Mods, thanks. Mod means Moderator? No developer have their name without "Mod" infront of their name, only 5 accounts I think don't have Mod prior to their name; Andrew, Paul, Simon, Chris and Constant. Again, very aware of what Mod stands for. What I reffered to as unknown was why the developers of the game decided to call themselves moderators, instead of devlopers, understand now? Also, well done on focusing on the most insignificant part of my post. I believe it is due to the fact that most of the Mods are not developers, but Customer Service or other non-Developer positions. Thus, Mod is used because it is a term to encompass everyone there Join Future Update News! February 19, 200917 yr From what I have heard, almost all Dutch people speak English (required to learn it in school?) so there isn't really a need to make a Dutch RuneScape. Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.
February 19, 200917 yr From what I have heard, almost all Dutch people speak English (required to learn it in school?) so there isn't really a need to make a Dutch RuneScape. There are still Dutch people who try to speak English, but fail immensely. You still get stuff like: "what is jou attack level?" (jou = you)
February 19, 200917 yr I am dutch, I srsly never played on a dutch world. Just because there are so many 10 year old kids making enormous spelling faults. Like what was named before, What is jou attack level. Kan I lend your scimmi. ( Can I borrow your scimmi) (lenen=borrow) I also have translated soms words to dutch, like dragon chainbody = drakenkettingvest. Thats just horrible...
February 19, 200917 yr I think the vast amount of dutch people playing actually shows they don't need their own version. Trnslating the game into its first few new languages isn't just to please, its to bring new business, and as dutch people can already get along fairly well speaking English, they don't need their own version, it would be a bit of a waste of time. Whereas a portugese version would bring in new business as alot of portugese don't speak english. Want to be my friend? February 19, 200917 yr RuneScape in Dutch would be a disaster, but if it gets the annoying Dutch kids out of the English words, then I'm all for it.

And the language (dialect) is Brazilian portuguese, not European. Brazilian Portuguese is just wrong.:( Imagine UK people complaining about how americans spell but 100 times worse. At least in english, most people generally know how to type and the differences between how certain words are spelt follow simple recognizable patterns. Brazilian "portuguese" has made up so many words over the years, and barely anybody knows how to spell correctly its not even funny any more. I avoid telling people I'm portuguese on rs because of this exact reason. It's like dealing with those darn 11 year old beggars who don't even know what they want while they follow you across runescape randomly hitting keys on their keyboard. Take into account that fairly recently, the great monkeys that rule Portugal have decided on "reviving" the portuguese language and somehow managed to dumb the language down to appalling standards so that the other portuguese countries could keep up and prevent it from dyeing. That said, the sad thing is that Jagex will most likely have this so called "brazilian portuguese" version of runescape where just about every single thing you read will be spelt incorrectly, the npcs talking will be like trying to decipher what a raving lunatic is trying to yell at you and item names are likely to make no sense at all. So yes I very much wish they would focus on some other language to convert runescape into where over 90% of the people who supposedly know how to speak it never finished their third grade.:(

He knows what moderator means but wants to know why they call themselves that instead of developers. I think I miss-read it, well not think, clearly did lol. I think they're forced to call themselves Mods rather than Devs, I'm guessing that anyway, probably to stop thousands of noobs asking the same question: "Whats a Dev and a Mod, why are they different?" Or I saw a "Mod Mark" and a "Dev Mark" are they the same person? I'm guessing it's something to do with that, sowwi for misreading post. They are most likely called mods because back during Classic they were able to walk up to a player and ban him on the spot, thus they moderated the game.
