Omar
Am I the only one that thinks that cockfighting is a weird name for such an awesome sport? :twss: Because they are [roosters]...who are fighting? I don't quite see what's wrong with the name there. The word [rooster] has meant rooster for thousands of years in many languages. The reference to one's penis is a fairly recent (like 50 years) invention. Yup. In french, coq still means rooster. [Edit] Sometimes I forget how long some threads are. Matt: You want that eh? Orpheus
Eh, what kind of cockfighting are we talking about? Point aside, I see nothing wrong with it, atleast the owner of the loser knows what he's having for dinner that night, and the winner knows also what he's having. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

This thread has run its course, let this thread die. goodnight sweet prince I was talking about people actually. People naturally die, should we initiate the process then? And before you tell me that there is a difference between humans and chickens, I'd like to say that there is also a difference between need for food and need for [sadistic] entertainment. Just because fights occur naturally does not give you the right to force them to fight. And when did I say the only reason we kill chickens for eating is because they die naturally? I said the justification for killing them for their meat is that we need food for survival.

Faux
Honestly, the next time you compare chickens to humans... I've had pet chickens before. I'm not kidding. I raised two chicks. One died because my friend messed with it and the other one grew up until my uncle slaughtered it. And yeah, I ate it. Chickens are dumb as hell. All they do is peck on the ground, eat, nest, and repeat it the next day. To compare that to humans is either incredibly insane or horribly ignorant. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
mmmcannibalism
Zierro, are you a vegan? if that was just a question my apologies for interpreting but opposing killing animals for the fun of it and opposing killing them for food are very different. Now you're basing your justification for abusing them on intelligence level? How do you feel about babies? Babies will grow into humans, who are intelligent. Chickens grow into chickens, which are not. I'm fairly neutral on the subject. It's really a cultural thing, not up to me to decide if it's right or wrong. Besides, we cramp a few thousand chickens into a room, then chop their heads off and most people have no problem with that. That being said, I probably wouldn't watch more than a single cockfight, and it's not something I support exactly. You can't restrict on what we can do to animals because they do not have rights. I just find people hypocritical when they're alright with eating chickens and argue that cockfighting is wrong. So you're okay with caging chickens in a cramp space, force feeding and then slaughtering them while putting them in one of the best cares they can get while fight maybe once a week is the inhumane one? Oh please. I've seen both cases upfront (I had friends who raised roosters and I have family friends who own coops that provide chicken to the biggest corporations in another country) and believe me when I tell you I pity the ones killed for food even more. They live a life of torture from birth. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

So you're okay with caging chickens in a cramp space, force feeding and then slaughtering them while putting them in one of the best cares they can get while fight maybe once a week is the inhumane one? Like mentioned many many many pages ago to you specifically, it is the intent that matters. We're sorry that they don't have good living conditions. But as a consumer, what are we supposed to do about that? Blame the factory workers, not the chicken eaters. I don't agree with the conditions they are forced in, and saying that I do is a strawman. I only said it's fully justifiable to eat chicken - not to treat it badly in the factory. Don't tell me that my eating chicken automatically means I'm fine with the treatment they get in the factories. Eating chicken =/= Abusing it in factory Eating chicken for survival =/= Abusing chicken for entertainment Only once you acknowledge both of those points, then and only then are you in the place to tell us that Chickens =/= Humans. I'm sorry, comparing babies to chickens after I said humans have more value is pretty [bleep] [developmentally delayed]. Your lack of comprehension really makes me feel sorry for you. What a convenient way to cover up the fact that your point falls flat on it's stomach. =D> Nowhere in that post did you attempt to justify your belief that "Stupidity means we can do anything we want to living things!" which is the point you've made. You can't restrict on what we can do to animals because they do not have rights. You seriously think that makes it okay to torture animals and do whatever you want? Where do your morals come from?
