Many people in North Korea think he is a god, the propaganda is so crazy like that. For example the newspaper reported something about the first time he went golfing a few years back, said he got a few hole-in-ones and ended up getting 30 below par or something. And people believe it.

It basically states that North Korea have announced they are going to test launch a "satellite", and that any attempt to shoot down said "satellite" will result in "a just retaliatory strike operation not only against all the interceptor means involved but against the strongholds"...

 

 

 

The last time N. Korea said they were testing a "satellite" claiming it to be a peaceful mission, it turned out to be a medium/long range missile that flew directly over Japanese airspace and sparked major controversy. North Korea is, according to Western governments, unstable. Allowing an unstable nuclear power to develop any kind of technology that enables it to launch something the distance that is needed to get into space could potentially put any country in the world at risk from an attack.

 

 

 

So they have proven they can't be trusted, they have nuclear arms and they're developing long range capabilities. To top that lot off, their "elected leader" is re-elected with 99.9% of the vote. I doubt the West will let this happen. These are the sort of incidents that start World Wars.

There was this documentary made about North Korea, a journalist snuck under the guise of filming a doctor who was going there to teach the medical technicians there how to do eye surgery, as well as do free eye surgery on people selected for it. I wish I could remember the name of it. It actually showed the problems in North Korea quite well, and is worth a watch through.

I don't find that very surprising. I highly doubt he had competition.

I was just checking Kim Jong-il's wiki page to see if there was any information on what North Koreans actually think of him (which was admittedly a long shot at best, given the media blockade) when I came across this:

Do you genuinly believe North Korea has peaceful intentions? Dictatorial countries pursuing nuclear weapons sends up a few red flags with me, and from their actions we have no reason to believe it is anything other then preparing for war.

I wasn't coming from a pro-Western standpoint, far from it infact. I'm not saying that the West would be justified in attempting to exert its will on yet another independent state, I only sought to outline the situation. Sorry if I wasn't clear! :)

 

 

 

I am actually in complete agreement with your statement. I think it is hypocrisy epitomised. Countries that preach freedom whilst forcefully imposing "democracy" on others is just plain ludicrous. They're all as bad as each other.
