ultimatballr
My Runescape character is an extension of myself and I personally care about what I look like in the Real World, and I take this into Runescape. Whether it is pointless or not, I like making my character look nice. If you want to dress up or dress down it is your personal choice. Some people like making their characters look nice, while others could not give a toss, and even though some people do judge people on how they first appear and by their clothes, it doesn't really matter. So, my final point is that some of us, myself included like looking good, for example, my desert boots are firmly attached to my feet, while others want practicability, it's exactly the same as in the real worlds, some people like looking good in their high heels though they aren't practicable, while others prefer more practicable trainers. Personal taste. Pretty much this, I enjoy looking good in life, so pretty much subconsciously I decide the same in RS and dress in what I think looks nice. (Yes I am saving for an outfit of my own that will probably cost me 200m or more) Gives me something to shoot for. Apparently, my signature was to big. Naive
I mostly wear full Dagon'hai robes with Quest cape, Barrows gloves, Dragon boots, Guthix Book and Stole, and Granite mace. The mace goes with it much better than a whip in my opinion. And if I'm feeling particularly evil that day I'll sub the Guthix items for their Zamorak counterparts and wear my trimmed Attack cape  I wear it because it's fun to do so. Maybe a bit of showing off with the cape and robes, but they look good. And when I play I like to be happy, not bored at the dull weight reducing armor my character's wearing. Your Grandpa
Outfits are generally just fun. I like to wear my full dagon'hai with my quest cape and dfs, plus a whip. It's mostly stuff that I would have anyways or that I got for free, and I find that it looks good and doesn't way much. So why not wear it, I figure? Resonae
I wear what looks epic because it looks epic, I hardly ever train combat anyway. Sure it might cost a few mil but at least I won't look generic. MR. OCTOPUS BEARD DISAGREES! No, THAT's what she said. Wanna know how to keep an idiot busy? Sir_Kurity
Whats the point of getting stats up? Whats the point of money, whats the point of pking, whats the point of killing monsters, whats the point of having a pointy AGS that can put a 7 in front of the zero instead of a 2? Whats the point. Its to look good, people have outfits to look good, realistically i wouldn't think an AGS is that much more useful than a cool looking outfit. r4ngewarlord
most people strive to look good it gives them confidence ect. you may not want to in a video game but others do, just so they can look at thier character and think "damn im cool" Gamertag: EFs Predator.Games I play: Halo 3, Halo wars. Ahwell. I would probably get myself some nice clothes but atm i'm going for 99 Herb  x ______________
Chicken102
If I'm just playing round/skilling I'll probably wear a chicken outfit and wielding rubber chicken, or wield a weapon and 'chicken tank' at minigames.. It's great fun. I left my wife for a level 59 tank mage
Makoto_the_Phoenix
The way I see it - buying items for looks has just as much purpose as buying items for usefulness. I have a set of Vesta that I use when I'm smithing, not because I need it (in fact, if I get into combat with a certain random, I'm going to lose it :?), but because I like the way it looks on my avatar. I suppose you could call it one of the perks of RSHD - people are bound to like armor that looks a certain way. No time or money is "wasted", since I'm still doing what I want to do with my time. It doesn't matter what people think of my outfit (since I train in a secluded spot on the map anyway); I like it, and that's all that counts. It's funny that you disown the idea of spending time and (RS) money on an outfit that they like. Like you said yourself, who cares? killotroll
If tread starter doesn't understand the concept of "being seen" and "showing off" there is a lot of things in both Runsescape and real life that he/she doesn't understand.
kamireborn1
Fashion doesn't really matter to me. I wear whatever is convient and not overly worn- don't want to look like everyone, ya'know (: While I had my Guthix; I'd wear the Platebody, Plateskirt, Kiteshield, Rune scim, Ammy of Def, Zombie Gloves, Fancy boots, Lederhosen hat and a green team cape (not sure which though).. Now that I've done away with my armour; I'm sporting the Lederhosen Hat, the Fancy Boots, the Zombie gloves still.. And the witch outfit from the Halloween event, the white/red scarf from a few Winter Holiday events ago, and my trusty rubber chicken- Fluffy the 3rd (and if you beg for fire whilst fishing, you get smacked!) Aussietroopa
I'm always at Fight Pits, so I have my own unique signature outfit which makes people think " O hey, its that guy, the one with the Void and the Ringmaster hat/Hp cape". I don't do it to impress, but I find it easier to remember people based on what they were wearing, rather then names ( >INSERT RANDOM GENERIC PKING NAME WITH RANDOM NUMBERS HERE<). If I'm not at pits, I generally just throw on whatever, as I don't particuarly care, but I'll still try to be efficient, such as boots of Lightness etc. [/bads]
hihihi727
It looks cool, thats why^^ But seriously, when i see people spending several hours borrowing different items and seeing which outfit looks best, it tells me something about their personality.... but i will still factor looks into an item if im buying it, but the time it takes to that is less than 10 seconds (eg. should i buy blue boots or red boots?) and if i have to do something like a quest im not going to bother getting a awesome red and yellow outfit with a hint of orange and the latest... uh 'runescape fashiony cape' that slows me down and will force me to blindly click on the screen for an extra minute.
