I'm sure there are a few Hockey fans out there on Tip.It and as the playoffs just started a few days ago, I figured I'd make a thread.

So, predictions? Who's going all the way this year?

Personally, I'm having a really tough time choosing a team to win. A lot of teams look good this year.

In the East I'll have to say Boston just because of how great they've done this year. For the West I'm gonna have to say San Jose but I really hope Vancouver can go all the way. San Jose is gonna go all the way though I think.

Go Canucks!

I'm so disappointed in my town's team (Montreal Habs). They lost both their away games due to indiscipline, getting the stupidest penalties and our starter goalie is worthless. Hopefully they'll shape up in our next two HOME games.

That said, Detroit is obviously taking the cup again this season :(

My Oilers disappointed me this year.

Go Bruins go!

Lucic's suspension is BS.

Crosschecking someone in the face is not reason enough for suspension? Are you kidding me? Although I used to have some respect for Lucic since he is such a great hitter and a skillful player at the same time, that crosscheck was really not called for especially when they were winning 5-1 when he did it.

The only reason why the Bruins are doing so well is because of Tim Thomas, that guy is a freaking WALL.

It'd be great if you could post the teams, and their match-ups in your first post. I'm not even sure as to all of the teams that made it this year. I'm a Flames fan myself. It also might interest some who don't follow hockey too closely, but still have an interest. ::'

I would like to see either the Sharks or one of the Western Canadian teams bring it home, but I think that it will be Detroit vs New Jersey for the finals. I kind of hope I'm wrong, but Detroit is clearly one of the best teams, statistically speaking, and Jersey has the winningest goalie in league history. I wouldn't mind seeing a Canucks-Devils final, though. Luongo vs Brodeur would be a classic matchup. However, I think Jersey may win it this year.

(Any of you who have seen me on any sports thread now realize that I am a hardcore Philadelphian.)

To the first part- Agreed :D

As for the Wings, I don't think they will win it this year. Don't get me wrong, they are a good team, but so are several other teams in the playoffs.

I was just giving him a hard time. Though I dislike the Phillies I do like the Eagles.

Now back to hockey.

I've been trying to get into every pro sport so far. Now since San Diego doesn't have a hockey team anymore, I have to root for an out-of-town team. Same with basketball (go Cleveland!).

Today's Scores:

Pittsburgh (3) @ Philladelphia (6)

NJ (3) @ Carolina (2)

Vancouver (3) @ St.Louis (2)

Anaheim (3) @ San Jose (2)

Haha, a lot of 3-2 outcomes today.

I'm shocked about San Jose though, I thought they'd be kicking [wagon] out there. I think they have some injuries though, that might be it.

Yay Canucks, 3-0 series lead :twss:

The Sharks haven't played well at all lately, even before the playoffs began. They had a few injuries, but I think the main ones were back today. And I'm hoping the Canucks can finish the sweep next game. They are one of my top 5 favourite teams, after all.

It's hard to see them do so great in the regular season every year, then struggle in the playloffs. I hope they can pull it together before it's too late. I'd like to see them win if not the Canucks.

Flames, Canucks or Sharks for me. It appears two of those teams won't escape the first round, however. Ironically, I live in the east and chose only Western teams for who I want to win.

I'm rooting for the Wings again, Osgood's back on track after his shutout... And their AHL affiate is doing pretty good too... The Grand Rapids Griffins have won at least 2 of the last 3 games they've played (against the Hamilton Bulldogs)

watching the playoffs makes me really want an NHL franchise in seattle. I plan on heading up to vancouver to a game next season though :D

side note, the way the canadiens are playing, they might get swept. but ill give them one win at home cause their fans are crazy.
