Christopher Poole is Time's Most Influential Person

Who's the World's Most Influential Person? The answer is moot.

No, really. Time Magazine asked readers to vote online for the most influential person, and the winner was "moot" -- aka Christopher Poole. He's the founder of 4chan.org, an image-based bulletin board that averages 13 million page views a day and 5.6 million visitors a month. 4chan has spawned other wildly popular sites, such as Lolcats.

oole, a 21-year-old college student, received 16,794,368 votes and an average influence rating of 90 out of a possible 100 in the third annual Time 100 poll. That put him way ahead of President Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

Time.com said its technical team did thwart several attempts to hack the vote, but the results are still likely to raise eyebrows.

"I would remind anyone who doubts the results that this is an Internet poll," said Time.com managing editor Josh Tyrangiel. "Doubting the results is kind of the point."

I guess its just something meant to catch your eye, before ambushing you with a reference to that Game about not knowing about the Game.

Speaking of which, what exactly is the Game? I'm guessing that you lose if you know that you are playing it, but I'm uncertain of the rules, and so uncertain of the Game and my part in it.

If my hypothesis is correct, however, I would be in a state of perpetual win with my current mindset.

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

If you think about the game, then you have lost the game. You should announce your loss to other people to make them lose. You are now playing the game.

I know some of you guys might not like him, but it isn't Time's nicest person of the year, it's the most influential and think of the millions of users going to 4Chann and the stuff they pull off around the internet thanks to Moot, then yeah. He should be Time's most influential person.

^I don't get how a guy who runs a website famous for racism and child pornorgraphy can be the most influential person in anyone's books. And from what ive seen on 4Chan he is no where to be seen, hardly influencing people.

The sites existence is enough for his influence.

Also it's not all CP and racism, ever heard of the Anonymous protests against Scientology?

Yes, and what did they accomplish exactly?

They informed people. Before Anonymous and that I had only heard of Scientology as a silly religion thing, I never thought they were dangerous. Teaching people about the dangers of the cult, seems pretty significant to me.

Actually, that was the name of the IRC channel /b/tards used to get "organized" on what to do with Project Chanology.

Correct. Full story is here:

It's worthwhile to note that it wasn't 12m people voting, it was just a script that was auto-voting.
