May 10, 200917 yr I play bass and my brother plays guitar, but we don't have a drummer or other guitarists so it isn't considered a band... but we do write a lot of music. I'd consider the style to be a mix between Pink Floyd and Tool since we got the whole otherworldly surrealistic thing going on.
May 10, 200917 yr Well here's the part where I let my ego inflate a little :D I'm in a locally successful metal band. I play the drums. Ataraxy If you haven't heard it, go listen and let me know what you think. We'll be recording again this summer. I also am the former section leader and snare captain of my high school's marching band. We did field shows, won best drumline, best music, and overall State Champions. We were so awesome. I'm now on the Twin Cities Area Independent Percussion Ensemble line. I play snare. We made WGI finals this year and had an awesome show. I used to play saxophone but I sucked. May 11, 200917 yr The first instrument I learned was the Viola, which I quit after about 2.5 years due to an awful instructor. I have been playing percussion for about five years now, though I have only had a set for the last year. I am first chair percussion at my junior high and I play quads in my school's marching band. I'm trying out for snare line at my high school for next year, though I am a bit nervous seeing as the auditions are in two days >.>. I've never played in a band aside from school concert and marching bands, though. My newest instrument is my bass that I got last week. I don't really know too much about it obviously, seeing as I've only had it for a week, but I am looking to start in lessons over the summer. Eventually, I want to learn the electric guitar, relearn viola, and possibly the flute.
May 11, 200917 yr I've been considering having a multi-genre band just because. I like playing various different things. Pop, rock, punk and metal are my favorite to play, though. You should definitely start a ZZ Top cover band. Yeah, but sure as hell ZZ Top or any coverers of them aren't getting laid. Which is the MAIN reason why people play guitar. Yeah, you heard me. May 12, 200917 yr I play guitar in a band. Our next gig is in June. Får man se er på Sweden Rock? Hehe. Hm, i was in a band a couple of years ago. Just maybe like 10 rehearsals with the guys before i jumped off. I own a guitar (which i still haven't sold) - haven't played it since i was 18 or so. But i found out a few years i could growl quite ok (i guess most similar is singer is Johan Hegg - but a bit darker), which was what i was doing in that band. But they played Children of Bodom stuff, which is really not my sort of thing... So i dropped it. I still practice growling once a week or so, but too lazy to get into any sort of band stuff. May 31, 200917 yr I play drums in a band, and I know how to play guitar, although not very well :P We play a lot of different music, we do Audioslave's "Doesn't Remind Me", a jazz song by Herbie Hancock called "Chameleon", and some Galaxie 500 songs (kind of spacy alternative, great band :D), and some other stuff. We have 1 original atm that doesn't have a name or lyrics lol, but its pretty good. We've had a couple "gigs", playing at things for our school and stuff, its fun :) :ohnoes:My Guide on Obby Mauling!
June 29, 200917 yr I play violin, no where as well as Máiréad Nesbitt, though. I also sing (I'm a soprano), not as well as Chloë Agnew (but my friends strongly disagree). A few of my friends and I are getting together sometime during this summer to practice and perform the song Caledonia (the link goes to a video of Lisa Kelly's performance of Caledonia at Slane Castle two years ago). I don't know if this counts as a band. R.I.P. Lena, Rosa, Dougan, Tammy, Neil, and Patton!

July 11, 200917 yr I regularly get together with a bunch of friends and we attempt to cover whatever we feel like doing. I normally sing; sometimes I drum and sing at the same time although that takes some mega-coordination to do anything other than basic beats. We got together a few days ago... it was apparently an unofficial Dave Grohl day, hah. Did some Nirvana, Foo Fighters, QotSA... I like singing like Josh Homme 'cause it makes me feel like Elvis for some reason. Sometimes we do metal and my throat hurts the rest of the day. Screaming is fun AND painful! July 11, 200917 yr Haha yeah if you're doing metal-esque "singing" and your throat hurts, you're really messing your vocal chords up. YouTube has some videos that can help. July 11, 200917 yr Played drums in a band with a few folks for a year and a bit. Stopped it last year as they started Uni and wasn't as easy to get everyone together for a practice. Thinking starting it again once everyone gets settled then we can work stuff out. Played mostly covers of songs we liked and gigs with local bands.
