Sir_Kurity
I really, hate pures who hate summoning. Summoning dosent even give combat in pvp worlds anymore, so theres no disadvantage. Yet every single pure i meet seems to hate summoning, with a vengeance, they seem to forget that it dosent give combat levels, and scoff at any pure that dose have summoning, for no apparent reason. walka92
but they dont need it either why train something you dont need? it would just be a waste of money for most of them I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come
Karvinen
Combat familiars are useless, because it takes so long time before they attack. You could use the call button, but in PVP that can result in getting KOed, because you can't eat while you are calling the familiar.
Ezz
They need to make Summoning familiars actually attack, and remove summoning defence from armour (once you get your familiar to attack your player opponent with normalish armour, all your familiar will be hitting will be 0's and low numbers anyway), then pures will maybe (maybe) consider summoning :P Yes, they're very stubborn. noble_aloof
the reason i dont get it (although i have charms for 50+ saved up) is because i enjoy being low combat.. i like being judged as a level 91, not a level 98. funnisam
i'm 125 cb in f2p, 82 slayer etc. I also did what ermin66 did, camped at dusties for a while. I didn't pick up any charms, and i havent completed wolf whistle. I have the charms for 70+ summoning in my bank but i don't want to get it. That doesn't mean that i hate summoning, as it is a very useful skill, however it's fun to own people of the "same" combat level in duel arena. Inuashakent
Ermm.... I don't know where to start. Combat familiars are useless, because it takes so long time before they attack. You could use the call button, but in PVP that can result in getting KOed, because you can't eat while you are calling the familiar. You have to click 3 buttons to make your familiar attack for the whole fight. 3. How is that possibilty going to get you killed? RS' pvp system is definitely not fast paced... And you missed that each duel lasts 1-3 minutes in RS with food, and 30 seconds in a duel. Or even more. Combat familiars take ~5 seconds to respond WITHOUT the whistle. It's not like you have to whistle it to attack. You obviously never been hit by a Geyser titan or anything higher. i'm 125 cb in f2p, 82 slayer etc. I also did what ermin66 did, camped at dusties for a while. That doesn't mean that i hate summoning, as it is a very useful skill, however it's fun to own people of the "same" combat level in duel arena. This is the only possible reason not to train Summoning, and that is to show off. Valid reason for some, I assume. But saying it's useless is... :?: (I know you didn't say that) And everybody here seemed to miss that higher end combat familiars add 10-20k xp/hour while training combat. Sir_Kurity
People train cooking, its useless. Summoning more useful in most ways (even to a pure), most are just idiots. And no, i don't mean use it in pvp, i mean people look at your 50+5 or something, and say your failed, etc. O.O

Bassy
I love Summoning. I don't PvP, but it's just way too useful to not train. There's just something magical about being 117 Combat and having 130s go "wtf" when they see your Lava Titan following you through the Chaos Tunnels. Pures may laugh at me walking around, but no matter the case I'll last a hell of a lot longer than them in the GodWars dungeon. An extra 19 inventory spaces really helps when you're facing a lvl 624. \ Click Here for a Common Sense Dungeoneering Guide
Zierro
Having low combat and advanced abilities is "cool". Don't ask why, it's just the basic principle of acceptance in our nature. The same reason people dress to impress.

Tribbleman
Unless you are tight on money, there is no reason not to train summoning. It is extremely useful in training combat and certain other stats since familiars give boosts. If you're that preoccupied with your "image" to other players to the point that you hamper yourself, there's a word you should learn, insecurity. Really, who cares if your combat is 110 and someone else is 100 since you have summoning? Once you get a chance to beat them, you get to slap them across the face and stop them from being so ignorant. Other than the duel arena argument, there is no downside whatsoever to raising summoning. RayOxide
i dont know many pvpers that only manage to hit 15hp in a minute. The OP means that training summoning doesnt effect your PvP level, yet PKers and Pures hate it for whatever reason - it doesnt effect them in PvP, so why not? I dont need a siggy no moar. xpandax
I don't have summoning on my pure because he is exactly that, a pure. An account whose sole purpose is pking. I have no need to spend hours on a skill that has no real bearing on the one thing I enjoy most with that account, pking. There are three activities I do on my pure, train, pk, kill green drags for pking supply money. I have a range tank, training is already ridiculously efficient/easy with chins. While summoning would help with killing green drags, i'm really not camped at green drags long enough to make the time wasted training summoning worth it. I may kill green drags an hour every other day to make up the difference from pking. As it stands now, most pks i get don't add up to the expenses i incur from my equipment. my average pk is around 150-200k and i pk with sea turtles rune knives and dragon bolts (e). really there just is no need for me to have summoning and "level 82 (+11)" just doesn't appeal to me. Hubs
Agreed; That kind of ignorance just makes me angry. An example: The other day, my brother was at clan wars. He's lvl 99+8, and he's fighting some 107+2. After he beasts the noob, the noob comes back and asks him his Hp level. He replies "90". "ROFL NOOB, onyl 90 hp at 107 cb???lawl, looooooooooooooooooooooool". "Im actually 99 combat without summoning, so it doesnt matter in a pvp world". "loooooooooooooooooooooooool failllll noob lmao st00pid summoning noob u wannabe pker i 92 hp l0000000000000000ll!!!!!".
