He actually had a reasonable request, but it's something that we can't really do for a multitude of reasons. There's no need for a sardonic response..

well i'd like to apologize then. occasionally when my browser is running slow i'll view tip.it on my ipod touch (yesterday would be a good example)

i don't understand why he would need it all organized into an app when it is already organized into a(n) (easily viewable and organized) website.

Siggie'd.

And how would a Tip.It app even be possible?

Cr00bs aren't that epic.

I was thinking about this.

Sure, you can view the website on your phone but the screen is just too small.

How about making a mobile version of Tip.It?

Dont think so. Making mobile versions of sites is realy hard, not to mention on top of paying for the boards and site, they'd have to also pay for a moblie version of which not that many people would use.

Or! They could just make a free app!

Not paid for app silly.

He means they'd have to pay for server space to HOST the mobile site.

And as was said way further up this thread all u do is go into the safari browser and go to tip.it. you can easily switch to the text only version to save loading power and i believe on the iphone u can make bookmarks of websites tht then appear on the homescreen like apps do.

TBh theres 0 need for an "app" of a website. I mean no website has an "app" jut for loading its website. They have apps to stream specific features of their site ie sports score for a sports site, but you still have to load the full site to read everything else.

By they, he meant the tip.it crew, they have to pay to maintain the site up and all that

I just you could use all the data and coding from Microhelper, and just adapt it for the iPhone/iPod?

It wouldn't be that easy really, even if it WAS that easy then it probably would end up being difficult anyway >.< That's how anything with websites ends up working.

I'm just saying though, you don't need to start from scratch. You have the basic layout of the "lite" version already there, and maybe some parts of the coding you could use as well, so it's not as bad as it seems.

By my reasoning, you can only play runescape while on a real computer, so I don't see enough benefit from the application to be worth the cost and hassle of putting together an app or mobile site.

Tip.It already has quite an advanced back-end, so there probably won't be a move over to another platform, even though it is quite possible. Most of Tip.It is 'in-house', just like RuneScape :) .
