Well I don't know what to say about this. Employees of any companies should never stoop to the level of calling their customers liars. But then he has the obligatory professional-style apology which I suppose helped, but didn't resolve, his post that disgraced mods as a whole. The policy wasn't his fault nor do I think it is wrong for being there. Jagex would have 10 times the normal work to do if they had to sift through each complaint to find true losses and refund money.

Why shouldn't he take money to the minigame? He put his TRUST in Jagex that they were correct in saying the minigame was a safe one and therefore assumed his money was safe. But alas, a slight overlook by QA cost him his money. No Runescape player would anticipate that a SAFE minigame could rob you of all your money. He's not dumb for bringing money at all. Nobody could have anticipated losing all their money upon logging out, they put a lot more trust in Jagex than that. A lot of bugs that players fell victim to weren't their fault. Like the spontaneous death glitch where players just walked around and suddenly dropped dead losing all their items. Was it their fault that they decided to take a stroll with their armor and weapons? Could even the smartest of runescape players have predicted they were going to drop dead for no reason? The victim of this glitch has been through enough. He lost his life savings in the game, he got flamed by a mod who apologized but could do nothing to help him due to the policy, and now a random player shows up and calls HIM dumb for trusting Jagex's game quality?

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

kk here is a thing im not trusting their game security better i dont even trust jagex for anything, im pretty sure he heard about the 666 bloodshed, that was bug and it clear that you should freaking learn something and not bring 350MILL!!!! the thought that jagex wouldnt do it again come on it bound to happen again on next big update, well maybe next time he wont bring 350mill to a mini game, plus mod matk cant even do anything about it he would lose his job if he did

I think you're the dumbest player in RS.

lol like i give a [bleep] what you think, im just saying its better not to risk stuff when new updates come, learn something from the mistakes of others

Yeah that makes sense but still, why shouldn't a player be able to trust that Jagex have checked for bugs? Especially one as incompetent as this.

kk you need tp think about this, for the first time when the big updates come they r not 100% bug free, even so they got glitches that need to be caught and get fixed. I understand your point of being able to take your expensive stuff around rs but your taking them on your own casualties, for safe storage they got banks

Iyaari.png

comp-regular.png

^ Banks aren't always safe places either, some people have reported that their stuff disappears from banks.

We can't not participate in bank updates.

So essentially nowhere, not even the banks are safe 100% from glitches.

I don't think that those claims were ever confirmed by Jagex to be legit bugs, so jury's out on that.

As for the player; I would never carry 350mil around for one reason; Lag. Look at how many stories you hear about people dying because they lagged out somewhere and a random event killed them. You take a risk every day, yes, but I find there's a big difference in my every-day armor that I can replace in a week tops, than carrying around the 350mil I just spent the past few months gathering.

Big, major difference. The difference between if you got hit by a car and lost your wallet that flew into a river and is gone, or got hit by a car while carrying your life savings in a sack that flew into said river and was gone. While you'd still feel bad for the guy in Scenario 2, you can't help but wonder why he was walking down a street carrying said life savings in the first place.

my point exactly, and for the reason i listed above about items dissappearing from your bank, either you dropped it or someone jacked it

"ZOMG why woodz anyon1e walk wif 350M in they invanetory?? He diverse 2 looezed itz."

Just to let you all know, apparently it was the following quotation from the Mobilising Armies recent updates thread which influenced him to bring in the cash.

"As we all know, war isnt cheap, so with Mobilising Armies we are introducing a commodity-exchange system....youll be able to trade them in at the command centre for investment credits"

Apparently he brought the cash so he wouldn't have to worry about going back and forth to grab more cash as he assumed it was a safe minigame.

The bank is on the mini-map about ten steps away. I'll go back to my previous analogy with the car;

It'd be like justifying carrying your bank account around as cash (Disregard credit/bank cards for the moment) because going to an ATM machine to withdraw money on occasion is too much of a pain. Then, again, getting hit by a car and having said money sack disappear in aforementioned nearby river.

yea and plus rollin back just for this kid would be insane, not to mention that mod mat k stepped up to his mistake and apologized and yet some nubs want to flame for losing nothing since they r bluffing like that kid who said he lost blue phat, no new update is 100% glitch/bug free so learn from your freaking mistakes

The facts are, jagex stuffed up, the bug was totally unforeseeable, and it was JAGEX'es fault entirely.

O.O

true but still as seen previously jagex doing updates equals to bugs which will make you lose your stuff so BANK everything before you try the new update

Just how many minigame updates have made you lose items?

Like sure, i can name a few like fight caves, and construction, but its not a particularly forseeable event.

Considering you don't even fight in this game, you would be surprised if you lost 350 mill.

your right ill be surprise but ill be also smart not to bring 350mill when the bank is right there 5 feet away

Iyaari.png

comp-regular.png

You may rant that you lost x amount of money due to a bug. But Jagex wont do a roll back, because YOU AGREED THAT JAGEX WILL NOT REPLACE YOUR LOST ITEMS IN ANY KIND OF SITUATION when you started the game. So you start the game and be careful or you quit and never feel the loss of your hard work.

Still, seriously? Who carries 350mil with them into a minigame? I only take all of my money when im buying something in G.E. People never learn, that bugs exist and that they can do anything. Better waste money on usefull items, rather than keeping huge piles of cash in your bank; it`s more secure.

Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.

I think it's horrible the way Mod Mat K treated them.

IF he wanted he could have locked the thread after his apology. He didn't.

He continued to post lewd comments.

IMO, he needs to back off.

Rollbacks aren't an option...won't those idiots get it?

MA has been out for quite a while already, your stupid 350M lost is nothing. In that time, everyone in RS could have earned, 10 times what you lost?

Seriously, cut the crap. People will never be happy, and the mods are already doing their best to solve these stuff. They shouldn't even be wasting their time talking to these idiots who are never satisfied. Imagine everyday hearing idiots who don't know a single thing about programming complaining and ranting about what the mods have been working on for months on end. I won't be able to take it, and will probably go and flame every idiot in the forums and lock and hide every post.

If they don't rollback, people would flame them like mad.

If they rollback, people would STILL flame them like mad.

So what can they do? Not rolling back has less consequences, so of course they'd not rollback. Its perfectly logical.

Um everyone in rs could only have earned enough for a few hours while people that lost money because of the glitch potentially lost several years of work. Sure, "no one will every be satisfied" but that doesn't mean that he couldn't have simply given him his 350mil back or at least be a bit more sympathetic. BTW quelmotz stop calling everyone an idiot its really annoying. IMO Mod Mat k handled the situation really badly. That thing about aliens was really unnecessary and i don't understand why he won't give him his 350mil if its his fault that he lost it

Well too bad, I don't think Mod Mat K handled the situation badly at all.

He was just doing his freaking job. He did apologize. Sincerity is based on judgment. I think his apology was sincere enough.

Yes, 350 million is a lot of money, but its just a game. Why should he bring 350 Million into a minigame anyway? To flaunt his wealth? He wasted a lot of time on it, but there's nothing much Jagex can do about it.

If they give him back 350 million, the forums will immediately be flooded with people begging Jagex to give them free cash, and pretending that they lost cash due to bugs in the game. I think this is what Jagex had in mind when they refused to return the lost 350 million.
