Mobilizing Armies - Siege Impressions

How many people actually got a chance to play the siege mode?

I know I played a game before it was broken, and it was boring as hell. You could either attack the armies, or try to break the castle. While attacking the castle, the turrets fired at you, so just attacking would kill your units relatively fast. It would only do 20-30 damage a hit, but it was very accurate. However, getting the resources for the catapult was a pain - each click would only bring one resource back - you couldn't tell your units to keep getting ammo, for example - it was micromanaging to the extreme.

I also got to play it once, then tried for the rest of the time to try to get into hoard, but to no avail.

Contrary to your opinion, I enjoyed it quite a bit. There is a delicate balance between attacking your enemies and attacking the castle (though I do wish it was just attacking the castle, I guess that would get boring after a while.)

The "right" strategy seems to be to use 4 light guys and 6 heavy guys as of now, sending 3 to the walls and having 4 rotate and bring rocks back to the cannon every so often, though you must also guard your light players from attack from other players.

Now... I really wish I could try out hoard and rescue..

Don't forget you can attack other players catapoults, why not just build your cata, then destroy the others.

It looks much more deep than conflict.

I had 6 light and 4 heavy, the heavy attacking the wall, and the light guys taking cannonballs, but telling each guy to get one rock at a time was really boring, in my opinion.

I personally really want to try out hoard, as it may have different strategies.

It'll be fixed with the font update tommorow I get the impression by this.

Hey guys,

From looking at the volume of complaints on this forum regarding the new font, I hope that you will be pleased with what I am about to tell you!

Later on today (I don't have an ETA), we will be changing the font back to its former glory.

Good news? I hope so!

Edit: This update will no longer be going live today as we are currently working on some other stuff that we want to be launched at the same time.

They should definitely make it so that you can set a unit to constantly be collecting rocks. Clicking each unit to collect rocks each time is hard to manage.

The 1 match I played, no one attacked each other so it came down to who could build and collect the fastest. If it were easier to do, people could be more strategic and actually fight each other.

Sleep on...fly on.

In your mind, you can fly.

In my match I killed everyone but the match didn't end. I tried knocking down the wall and ended up running out of time. Glitched?

I was able to get into a game on a German world, what I could understand I thought was poorly designed. I couldn't even damage the castle wall, with 8 armies attacking and 2 gathering stones and firing the catapult. Then I got killed.

I liked siege  Came in 'second' because the other two teams dropped out and when the time ran out the other person had more of their wall smashed...

Catapult = serious win.

Goblins attacking the wall = also serious win. (it's called the combat triangle. It works here.)

Light elves on the catapult = MUST DO THIS OR J00 LOOOOOOOOOOSE.

Balance may be power, but chaos is still pretty damn fun.

it was micromanaging to the extreme, true, but yet I found it more enjoyable than the "hope-they-ignore-you" tactics that dominate the "conflict" mode.

"Noob" is an insult. "Noob" is overused. Be polite. Try to say "noob" less than once a day.

Thank you.

It's annoying clicking, but it's much better than conflict. The only good thing about conflict is fairly fast rank points if you die fast. I'm trying hoard now, it's actually worse than siege in my opinion. I want to try Rescue :wall: :ugeek:

it wasnt bad for my experience, this mode reminded me of AOE and Tzar, taking down your opponents build and taking over their grounds not bad, not mad at all but i hate the fact you have to wait to get in, jagex need to change that

I've only played three games of Siege, and won them all. It's pretty fun IMO, better than the rest really. I will admit, it can get boring after a while. But once/if Jagex decides to update MA, they should add some more siege weapons, maps, units, all of that. Would be a great game then. Also some Human vs. AI games would be cool.

You just said exactly what I was about to say.

I hope we'll see more than 6 types of units.

2 players were just attacking the castle and died, the other one was collecting rocks as i did, but he already suicided his 4 dwarves.

So I just destroyed his catapult with one heavy goblin, and as soon as he realised is was broken he fixed it, but I kept killing it with one hit :s

Oh well, I won, But my finger hurts after all the clicking.

Yeah, me too. I just had an epic game of siege in which my last unit was red-barred and loading rocks for the catapult, and I " broke into the castle". I love this game.
