Th3_Crusader
Heya, Firstly, I work at an Animal Hospital in Missouri. When I first applied, the pay was minimum wage; $6.55. Then I forgot when, but Minimum wage went up to $7.05. A year passed, and I got my raise. it was...20 cents... Now the new minimum wage goes to $7.25 July 24th, and that's how much I'm getting payed at the moment. The hospital just hired 2 new employees, that, too, get minimum wage. They will be getting paid the SAME as me and my other co-worker that started with me. So now, me and my co-worker who was hired with me, will be making the same as us, and they just started, yet We've been working now for a year and a half. We have nothing to show of working there for a year now. It's just not fair to us. Heres the stupid/funny thing. My supervisor, thinks we should've gotten 50 CENT RAISE. and the Main boss (the owner) only gave us 20 cents. and in my honest opinion, I think he did that so we'd just be getting paid minimum wage again. So what should we do, talk to our boss about the situation, or not? Any other suggestions would be nice. Thanks, Th3 Crusader

Skull
It I remember correctly, his boss is a d bag. But good luck trying to get the raise, you probably shouldn't be getting paid the same as new workers. Th3_Crusader
My Supervisor is the [bleep] My main boss (the owner) is cool, he went to HS with my mom. I kinda thought he'd give me a good raise, apperently not. The Manager, is the person who I'd be speaking with. She deals with all this. She's awesome, and really I've never seen her mad, she's always cheery. ______ My Supervisor was the one who thinks we should've gotten 50 cent raises. Sbrideau
I've never heard of a company/place that gave a higher raise because the minimum wage was raised. Hell, it even happened to me to have the raise right before the minimum wage raise and I did get paid the same amount as new people were getting for 4 months before the next raise. PoorLepRecon
Hey I'm from Missouri too. I have the same situation you are in. I have been working at my job for over a year and make $7.20 an hour currently. When minimum wage increases, I will be making the same as every other new employee, just like you. I highly doubt I will be able to get compensated for staying with my job for a year. Also, raises are only handed out in November, so I'll probably only get another 20 cent raise in November. If I wanted to talk to someone about it, I would have to talk to an administrator and that wouldn't get me anywhere. Th3_Crusader
Should I just wait for my next raise? (Next April... :wall: ) If I do, and if they're still around, and they get the same raise as me, I'll quit right there. All they do it sit around and talk. Like me, I'm always doing something. Which is why I'm really upset over this whole thing. The Owner is too busy up front then to notice me...he doesn't see how much I really do... Lionheart_0
And holy [cabbage]. Minimum wage here is 8.55. And it's 9.50 here. It always amazes me how the states seems to have low minimum wages when they are a country that has a higher cost of living. Any way, ya talk to your boss. If he says no though, I don't suggest quiting, unless your job is actually very crappy. A job is a good thing right now. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! stevepole
And holy [cabbage]. Minimum wage here is 8.55. I love Washington's minimum wage even though I haven't work for like 3 years. It makes it hard for me to get a job in Arizona while I'm down there for school when their minimum wage is like $2 lower. I would definitely talk to your boss because that isn't fair for you. I saw this same situation play out when I did work and the guy that was in your position quit because they never gave him the wage he deserved. IGoddessI
You could try but usually bosses have planned pay raises several months in advance and have already made up their mind. The home-truth is that bosses don't give a crap about you, your family, your little cat called snuffles or your feelings. They care about more money in their own pocket and sniffing HR's clenched butt cheeks. You're better off finding another job :( If you had a million dollars what job would you have? Do that one. You won't make money out of a job you don't enjoy and couldn't do without pay. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. Th3_Crusader
It's not a crappy job at all, I love it & all my co-workers. Except my supervisor :P And since I work there I get a 50% discount of al Doctor visits & heartworm preventatives and such. Thats the only thing that got me thinking of why they did get me my 20 Cent raise. I do go in a lot, 4 dogs can be a pain in the [wagon]!
IGoddessI
They still don't care :P but if you want to ask, go ahead you'll probably feel better that you tried. baalboy5
Isn't it agianst the law to pay under minium wage? Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? mmmcannibalism
Isn't it agianst the law to pay under minium wage? If I recall correctly; federal minimum wage is just a guideline in the United States. I am not sure about state law, but I am almost certain an employer doesn't have to recognize the federal minimum. dusqi
Get another job offer. Say that you like your current job but in the current economic climate you have to go where there is the most money and so you will have to leave unless you get paid what the other job does. Be prepared to do so. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one.

Which is stupid as things are rising, jobs being lost and we get low pay to afford rising costs (Fail World atm) Popoto.~<

Th3_Crusader
I talked to her yesterday and said We'd have to wait until our yearly evaluation...next april. They just fired two employees, with one pay of arouns $20 /hr and $8/hr and they cant afford an extra 5 cents for us? I know it sounds a little wierd just being 5 cents more then our new co workers, we just dont want to get paid the same as them. :| Oh well...
