Can we go back to random disaster drawings?

Hey, me attacking Earth was not a random disaster[/Joke]

Yeah, I do that. Does anyone have a list of disasters?

I had a whole system set up before. I'll go find it in the depths of my computer.

EDIT: I can't find it, it must have been on my laptop which is now dead. But here is the gist of it. I had a list of all the empires. Each was given a number (If there were 8 total players, they would each get a number 1-8).

There were three "random event" categories.

The first were localized disasters, things like hurricanes, earthquakes, rioting, food shortages, minor epidemics (think h1n1, but not as bad as spanish influenza), electrical failure, and so on.

The second were global disasters. Things like temperature changes, pandemics, major pandemics, massive increases in piracy of ships and so on.

Then there were Empire Bonuses/anti-bonuses. An empire would be randomly chosen to get one of the following benefits: 5% gdp increase, 5% gdp decrease, 5 year research bonus, lose 3 years on a research, Increase production by 50% for a year, decrease it by 50% a year and so on.

Yes I remember, I got hit with natural disasters almost every turn hehehe.

Any posts Hex makes will be removed.

Aww what did he say? I missed it.

Also what do people think about the crippling economic recession that could hit Dusty and Sere(and to a lesser extent Grim) due to their massive war time production and losses. Dusty will(might, if no one has strong objections) be the worst hit, since he lost the most people, as well as most of the fighting took place inside his(new) territory. Sere gets the second worst since he lost his entire empire. Grim has a massive oversupply now so that could easily become the worst if left unchecked.

Yes I was going to say I was in a recession, but economics have never really been a strong point in this game, so I didn't bother.

To anyone who hasn't checked out Promised Land, please do. Looks like an epic game.

Yes I remember, I got hit with natural disasters almost every turn hehehe.

I think it will probably be on a quota system, 1 Empire shatterer a week, 3 Natural planet events, 6 Man-made planet events and 10 localized ones. Spread across everyone.

Also, don't think you are getting away with anything if you only get a localized disaster, it can spread and become much more dangerous if your policies fail to stop it. Empire Shatterers tend to be uprisings, economic depressions or political upheaval, they can quiet quickly force you into a war with someone, lose you a planet or cause your fleet to rebel...and things pretty much spiral out of control from there.

Things will be judged on how much effort you put into coming up with a solution(you will have a 3 day grace period with Empire Shatterers, and 1 day with all the others) and/or how realistic your solution is(Does it conform to your race's traits, ect). Simply spending your way out of depressions or sending troops to quell uprisings tend to work, but will drain your empire of resources(Which are also going to be calculated using Astro)

Yes I was going to say I was in a recession, but economics have never really been a strong point in this game, so I didn't bother.

I am gonna let the war go because it doesn't seem plausible to suddenly hit everyone with a depression years later.

Archi as to the deep space probes would it be alright if you pmed the player the results of their probe

You can't find planets by sending out space probes, you just tell me 'Archi I want a system' and I generate it for you and it is announced. I will pm the results to you.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Flashlight production-8/17

Shipyards-6/10

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

I see what you did there.

Don't try to quickly edit your "I was being sarcastic" and then accept it when you know perfectly well that people shouldn't be allowed to go and find five systems randomly.

The one problem with your plan is that if I don't notice it then I won't gen the systems which means I will know that isn't what you said.

The major issue with your plan(your plan to change your posts and then claim the systems anyway) is that if I am not aware that that is what you are doing then I will not generate the systems. Since I read all the posts since the last post that I recognize I don't read the posts before that. Therefore if you edit something into your post there is a 95% chance I will not read it.

Therefore when you come to claim the system it doesn't matter what is in the thread I know that you did not ask me.

This applies to everyone so please just double post if you change your mind, or PM me.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Alright Arch. I wasn't sure whether I was allowed to double post because Ross was so mean to me when I did. :(

Or, we could pay to have a system scout of some kind?

I'd say like 25 trillion, so nobody actually wants to do it. No, it doesn't make any sense, but neither does systems spawning out of vacuum, and that's how we've been rolling so far.

Admittedly, the idea isn't very well thought through, but whatever, if anyone wants to change it a bit, go for it.

No generating systems.

Doom did, therefore I can. Unless you want Doom to remove her 10 day away system and the fleet she built there.

More heading for a star that hasn't get been scouted than a star just appearing... Would make an excellent short comic.

There is no reason why sending a normal ship to a new system would not yield the same results.

Traveling to a 'new system' always spawns something, and rarely is it good. In addition to this some planets will also spawn things... Exploring a new system is really the most expensive way to expand, but I was kind of looking forward to crushing the surge of excited colony ships as they arrived in their 'new homes' and were beset by pirates, enraged empires and generally made life very difficult for themselves as viruses and death exploded across Hegemony in a situation I can only describe as the wrath of Gods.

You guys spoil all my fun.

Even so I will impose a 4 uninhabited system rule...If more than 4 systems are uninhabited then you can't discover new ones. Does that seem fair?

Alright Arch. I wasn't sure whether I was allowed to double post because Ross was so mean to me when I did

In all honesty I have nothing against it, it makes communication much easier, otherwise people are always randomly changing their info and I do not have the time to reread everything every time I post.

Otherly I will get 4 systems done tommrow, since I have bee busyish today.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Recent news:

I've introduced a new baby boom to raise the population. For every child a parent cares for, they will be payed a certain amount of money. This should raise the rate of population growth.

My virus has been named the YO15 virus, standing for "Yexenus October 15". Yexenus, my nation, and october 15, the date I began research.

Go ahead, archi, please do. If I like the results, I'll stop researching. If I hate it, would I be able to do work on it and then re-roll?

Oh, does my research time affect the odds of it being more powerful?
