I am using a real tech existing IRL, you are using something based on theories that would be impossible to use due to the fact that all your tools, engineers etc. would become part of it.

Please read what I write, electron lattices. Although, to be fair I didn't explain it entirely:

Tungsten and Silicon form a natural electron lattice around the Strange matter molecule which looks like this

Super imposed on this, since they are two separate entities, is a Tungsten-Silicon net which has electrons orbit in such a way as to prevent the strange matter from colliding with anyone part of the net. If damage occurs then the net is broken and Strange matter seeps out, before congealing into a blob. The strange matter itself stops incoming projectiles until the Strange matter reservoir is exhausted. Doubtlessly if a missile made of hypenum was fired at the ship then it would explode against the net and just create a blob of Strange Matter outside of the net.

 

So basically it is an ablative mass, one of the side effects of this though is that photons are mostly refracted due to the electron layout, which is perfectly normal physics.

Stranglets only convert Quarks, electrons are perfectly fine to interact with...You just have to develop simple electron lattices, as I have done, put them into a glove like format, and bobs your uncle you have clay...

 

I should point out that an electron based weapon would not do masses of damage, since it is already inside a Faraday Cage of Silicon and Tungsten.
