Atleast the learning curve is being upped, meaning people take bows and dhide = greater loot or just a tonne of welfare rangers :P

So I went to the new bar since the new slayer monster was disappointing and was talking to the squirrel about where I can get his hat and saw this

The slayer update just re-enforces what I've been saying for years:

 

 

 

SLAYER DROPS SHOULD ONLY DROP ON TASK

 

 

 

The major flaw in the current system is that every man and his dog camp at the "good" monsters leaving the hardcore slayers frustrated when they get a task. Not only would having the good stuff drop on task only raise the price of the items but also it gives people an incentive to train slayer, and means I can kill Abby Demons on task without having to wait around until a non-peak time.

I like camping and i don't see how that update helps. I mean its already annoying to kill 100 so monsters and then talk to some dude to be told what to kill again.

 

 

 

1. Slayer drops are rewards for training slayer. It makes sense to only get the item when earning slayer XP.

 

2. New players get left behind. When I started playing whips were 3.5mil. When I got 85 slayer, they were 1.3mil. Mostly due to people camping there.

 

3. Good monsters are crowded. Abby Demons are usually rammed, soley with people hunting for whips. All of them know there is better XP elsewhere but still camp at demons. A slayer comes along who has just sat through 49 iron dragons and has to fight to get a spot on a skill they are training via the proper method. Gargolyes for example used to be a nice task save the annoying animation, since PKing returned and the granite maul rose slayers struggled to get a spot through the campers. Dropping only on task reduces the number of campers.

 

4. There are already non-slayer drop monsters you can camp at for reward. Armoured Zombies being the major one, and you're not affecting the slayers.

 

 

 

The argument of "I got that level I should be able to get the reward whenever I like" is a load of rubbish. I have the herblore level for Sara Brews but I don't expect to make one without training herblore. Likewise why expect a whip, which is a slayer drop, if you are not training slayer?

 

 

 

I feel sorry for anyone who is training slayer and gets the new creature. They stand no hope in hell of finishing there task in reasonable time so are penalised by either skipping/blocking or wasting time.

Good thing I still haven't lost Eblis's staff. They're getting uber-pricey.

The new monster/graphics have given me a good moral boost to do melee, I was getting tired of it. I think the new whip noise and animation are great.

I wonder why the SGS got shafted on the special -.-

The graphics and animation in the bar is amazing, if you spend some time observing. I like how Geoff throws the arrow and split the previously thrown one on the dartboard. The new weapon graphics and animation are great, now godswords look less like sheets of paper and more like a solid weapons.

 

 

 

The new mudkip is nice, another slayer beast with special abilities, and unique drop. I just need to pray that I don't get it for my task within this month. :wall: I just realised too, that I might have to step into the Slayer dungeon for the first time in my slayer life, if I get it as a task. None of the rest requires it, since I take tasks from Duradel.

 

 

 

For once, even the PVP update was great. Kinda shows that Jagex seldom goes wrong with 3 kinds of updates: Graphics, quests, and small fixes.

 

 

 

It's overall a great update, except for the fact that I don't need another item that's named either after a god of RuneScape or based on the obvious. Amulet of accuracy, might as well name abbysal whips as whip of accuracy too. :(

 

 

 

This deserves like 9/10 at least.
