Children of Men - I really wanted to see this, but really didn't know all that much about it. It is in the post-apocalyptic totalitarian government setting, and I love that. This movie turned out to be better than I thought it would be. The long shots were amazing, although I heard they were pieced together digitally just to make it look long. Some other people said they weren't, so I don't know. Still, they were awesome. Another thing I really noticed was the soundtrack. It was very unobtrusive. Not like most movies where the sound is basically telling you how you feel. They didn't do anything crazy like putting happy music when someone was dying, it just wasn't in your face sad music when someone was dying. Overall a great movie.

Children of Men... best movie of 2006 in my humble opinion. The photography was the most impressive part of this movie. There's one particular sequence that continues with one camera shot for about 15 minutes (and it's a mainly action sequence which is even more impressive).

Last movie I watched in the cinema was Eragon (Dragon with an "E"... clever eh? It's about all that's clever about this awful movie).

Just bought Crank on DVD this afternoon... gonna watch that tonight and tell you all how it was lol :)

I think I know the one you are talking about. When the Uprising is going on in the refugee camp, the main character loses track of the woman and baby, then goes into the building to bring her out . If that's it, I think it was two shots. During the first part of it there was blood on the camera, then after he went into the building there wasn't any blood. While watching it my friends and I thought it was all one continuous shot because we never saw it stop, but I noticed the blood wasn't on the lens anymore so I don't know. I might watch it again sometime and see.

Yer, you may be right... didn't notice to be honest. I was still impressed though.

It makes such a big difference from so many other "MTV" style directors where it's just cut, cut, cut, about 20 different camera shots per minute (you know, ala, Fast n Furious etc...).

Long continuous shots seem to draw you into the movie and keep you more involved.

It's the mark of a truly great director I think.

Have you seen Orson Welles' "Touch Of Evil"? The first shot in that lasts along time, and is one of the most impressive i have ever seen.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I last saw Jackas s 2 and Borat. Pissed myself lauging in both of the movies.

Don't forget the cinematographer, who needs to do the 'dirty' work. :P Anyway, if you're into long takes, you should check out some eastern europe cinema, especially Russian. You'll be drooling all over. :) It's somewhat harder to get though, but work by directors such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Aleksandr Sokurov and B̮̩̉̉la Tarr should be pretty available (if you haven't seen that yet of course). If that sounds too exotic you could also check Terrence Malick's work out, but I guess you already know him. :)

Yeah, Malik hasn't done much though.... Thin Red Line was excellent though.

"Family Guy" season 3 - Just as good as the first 2 seasons.

Children of Men - Heh, felt like watching it again. After looking at some of the long shots, I think they aren't entirely real. The long shot we were talking about above lasts for 10-15 minutes, but there was blood on the camera for a while, then it disappeared. The shot was seamless, it just slowly disappeared.

When I first saw Children of Men I didn't find it too good, but later it started appealing more. I'm gonna see it again next mont. But yea, the 15 minute shot is brilliant, weither it's done in one time or not. :P

Bloody hell that was clever, what a film.

This film has been hyped up a lot, but luckily it easily lives up to the hype. Very good film, Tarantino really is a world class director, and some great acting and dialogue.

Babel - Traveling around the world with IÃÆÃâÃâñÃÆÃâÃâárritu, after two succesful mosaic movies, this is the third one to close the trilogy. Unfortunuatly this one isn't as good as Amores Perros and 21 Grams. The visuals are quite amazing, it wouldn't surprise me if this movie gets away with oscars for cinematography and editing. Especially the quick cuts when we were back in the particular story were good for a short impression. But the writing could be put of as lazy. IÃÆÃâÃâñÃÆÃâÃâárritu would be better of finding a new writer, because the chemistry seems to be gone. The message gets trough, but you can't keep thinking that behind all this there is a writer who thinks he is very clever, maybe this is the reason that the movie didn't evoke any kind of emotion. Where they obviously wanted that very bad. They even tried a little bit too hard. Other than that I'm getting a little bit tired of the Ry Cooder wannabe guitarsoundtracks that Santaolalla keeps squizing out. All in all I'm quite dissapointed, the entire thing about communication and the smallest errors can be catastrophal is pretty interesting, but they didn't do much with it. 6/10

Doctor of Dental Surgery-2014

Medical Doctor-2018?

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon-2024?

I just got done seeing End Game. It was ok, I wouldn't really recommend it. The action movie had a few big names but the performances weren't so well.

Doesn't he die at the end and the guy who gave him the remote was God or something? That's what I heard but I never saw it.

Supermonk, proving you wrong since 1992.

Supermonk rocks, I want to have his children.

Music is like candy. You always get rid of the rapper.

I saw 'Flags Of Our Fathers at the cinema a few days ago. It was a decent film with Eastwood as a very good director again. Possible oscar contender, maybe a replay of Million Dollar Baby vs The Aviator except Flags Of Our Fathers vs The Departed. Anyway if you plan on seeing it see it whilst it's in the cinema. It's like Saving Private Ryan and others which you have to see there to get the intended experience. It's about the famous american picture of the six men putting up the american flag, well the real story behind each character. Ryan Phillippe is very good in it, doubt best actor worthy though. Eastwood is also doing the story from the side of the Japenese soliders which i am looking forward too. If you don't like war gore then close your eyes it's worth the watch but some images throughout are very shocking ect.

OT: Luring is sooo easy to avoid. That's what those nice signposts are for.

El Dorado

It's a John Wayne western. If I had to take one film to desert island, this would probably it.

That was the angel of Death

Children of Men That was one great movie. That long shot you guys were talking about was my favorite part of the whole movie

Memento watched this for a second time, it was great the first time, but as it seems that happens with me, I missed the one crucial line at the end of the movie that tied it all together which made it even better than before
