What movie(s) did you last see?

Featured Replies

Let's see.. last movies i watched were:

The lost city - Plays in the time of the revolution in Cuba, but is focused around a night club owner (Andy Garcia, who is also the director) and his family. Sad and a little boring imo, but not "bad" at all. Pretty emotional.

Dune - Well i watched this one again. Guess i don't have to say much about it. I love the story, maybe i'll go and read the books finally.

Supergirl (1984) - Not exactly a great movie, but what's interesting about it is the mood and setting, because it reflects the time the movie was made in. It probably wasn't ment to be that way, but i found the whole piece quite surreal.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - I haven't given this movie enough credit in the past. I ,more than often, said it was mediocre at best. But now that I have matured a bit, and grew out of that nasty non-conformisn, I finally realize and see whata master piece this is. And it fully deserves is title as "one of the greatest".

hm.. i have also seen the 2nd and 3rd part of the triology again recently and i do give Peter Jackson credit for realizing this mammoth project. The result is epic, but i dislike something about his style. Recently i have seen King Kong and there was it again. Maybe i shouldn't have watched "Bad Taste", because now i see Bad Taste in all of his movies. I always see this disguting splatterish flavour in his movies.

The thing that sometimes comes in his movies that he kind of loses hisself in the graphics. Atleast, that goes for me. The spatterish flavour in his movies is a thing I really like about it. Besides, you can't make a movie with epic battles, without a little bit of blood. That would be like a comedy without jokes. :)

Now that I think of it, I hardly saw any gore in Lord of the Rings. :o

Heheh. He wanted to make sure he'd get that PG rating or else, there goes the box office hit status. ;d Maybe. Then there was the competition with the Harry Potter movies.

I for one have only praises for ROTK (and all the Lotr movies actually, but ROTK is really amazing) when it comes to directing. Storywise now, that's another matter, I have enough issues to fill a small novel. :P

The Shawshank Redemption. Incredible film; easily deserves to be IMDB's number 2, if not the top place :) .

I watched The Da Vinci Code. It was solidly mediocre. I haven't read the book, but it seemed better fitted to be a book. It was basically like a retelling of a book, this time with moving pictures. So much narration, and explaination...It really didn't have the time to actually portray these things, so it just hussled through with lots of voice overs. It really doesn't make for that fun or original of a movie, constantly trying to keep up with just enough information to get by. And instead of having action, or building atmosphere, this is what it was doing.

That being said, it worked as a movie and I really can't see why this story has generated so much publicity. Assuming this is just like the book, it really doesn't seem to be worthy of such attention...

Also, it seems more attention to detail, and that this guy did his research, then actual good storytelling, character building and so on...

Casino Royale - I saw this in the most beautiful hall of Holland, we were lucky to have it. :P Here's some pics of it first. :)

I mean, how awesome is that?

And then Bond. Wow! It was very good. Really un-bondish. He didn't kill with his charisma and cheesy one-liners, he was rock hard, no mercy. And he actually had to work for everything. It was a great change for a dying franchise. Too bad for the fanboys, good for everybody else.

P.S. Craig was great!

I just saw Casino Royale too. Let's just say that at the end of it, I was asking for MORE. Gosh, good thing he signed up for 2-3 more movies =D>

Pi - It was a good watch. It ended differently than I had thought but that's not a bad thing :) 8/10

Octopu$sy (boo at the censor) A Bond film, always a fun watch =)

Thank you for smoking

Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo - In english I belive it mean "We children of Bahnhof Zoo"

Its a really great film I certainly wasnt expecting it to be any good to be honest. Im not a fan of German films. Its very much like The Basketball Diaries in its premise but much better executed, possibly because of the better real life story behind it. Instead of Leonado Decaprio the film is based on a 14 year old girl in Berlin.

Yea, I've seen parts of it. Never seen the entire thing. A bit too grim for my likings. But I should go trough to it fully sometime. :P

Went to the cinema yesterday and saw:

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - Left me a little bith a MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA feeling. First hour was really good, and cinematography over all was, well, brillaint (for your consideration! ;)). After that it got a little bit less, what it was I couldn't really say. But shortly after the entrance in Grasse the movie kind of lost me. It came back quite well a few times, but something didn't feel right. I must say I was quite surprised to see Hoffman in his role as a crazy perfumist (he's not the main character btw), and he did very good. I was less statisfied about the normally great Alan Rickman. Music was very good, and Hurt's voice-over was, as usual, very good. Indy is probably interested to see this one, as Tykwer (Lola Rennt) directed this one. I'm going for a 7 out of 10 btw. :)

I thought the trailer looked pretty good, and once I saw Dustin Hoffman was in it I was sold. It doesn't come out here until December 27th, so I still have a month to wait :( .

Im not a fan of German films.

You didn't like Lola Rennt? Or Good Bye Lenin!? I haven't really seen too many German films, the only ones I have are the good ones, so maybe that is why I like them.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Funny. My favorite part is with the bear and the kids :D

I saw that during school haha I had a free period. High Five!

I dunno what my favorite part is, there were just too many. I thought the part at the Jewish couple's bed and breakfast was pretty damned funny. So was the part at the formal dinner.

The other last movie I saw was Coach Carter. It was on TNT, so I just figured, what the hell. All I can say is, Samuel L. Jackson is awesome lol.

On the last day of school before summer holidays our went and saw Santa Claus 3.

Being grade nine, i didn't think it was that good.

How dumb do they think I am by saying that Jack Frost is real :)

Yeah, pretty bad, good for 5-8 year olds

Ive seen Good Bye Lenin and thought that was good, but I havn't seen Lola Rennt. Its wierd, but I don't really like ther German language to the films has to really be something special to keep my attention.

Went and saw Pan's Labrynth (Spanish) last night and thought it was really amazing. Definite potential winner for the Best Foreign Language film as the academy awards this year.

Might be watching A Very Long Engagement (French) tonight on DVD, but depends on how busy I am tonight.

I also really want to see Perfume, I read about it in this TotalFilm magazine and saw a trailer for it yesterday at the cinema.

"Babylon 5" season 3, 4, and 5 - I think for seasons 1 and 2 I wrote that while this show wasn't all that great, I still liked it. The series gets steadily better throughout seasons 3 and 4. The acting still leaves something to be desired, but it doesn't make too much of a difference. Still, by the end I was absolutely in love with the series. Season 4 kind of ended the series, then it went from network TV to cable TV for the last season. One of the main characters didn't continue with it, and that was a disappointing. Season 5 went downhill slightly in the quality of story part, they rushed everything way too much. I did think they did the ending pretty well though. Time to watch the movies now.
