What movie(s) did you last see?

Featured Replies

So if you are 16 years old you could be traumatized by this movie, but when you're 18 you couldn't be. Age restrictions are worthless.

That's not what I mean, my reply wasn't really well worded. A 12 years old could get traumatized just as a 40 years old. However, the odds are the 12 years old boy will take a bigger shock.

The 16-18 difference is just plain stupid, IMO. It's as potentially harmful, or harmless for a teenager as it is for a 2 years older teenager, but a number would have to be set, and this number is 18.

I'm not 18, have watched and am not traumatized.

I've pointed that out because other movies tagged as 18+ aren't as shocking as this one, and could be easily watched by a kid. This one really would drive the kid shocked. By kid I mean an actual kid, not a teenager.

So yes, numeric restrictions are stupid. However, this is the kind of restriction currently used and I can understand why this movie is tagged as 18+ here.

The Apartment - A good Billy Wilder movie. A romantic-comedy, with Jack Lemmon as the lead character again (just like in Some Like it Hot). Pretty funny at times, kind of frusterating at times, but that is how it was supposed to be. The first half of the movie I was just kind of waiting for it to get over, it was good, just I thought I had enough. The second half went very very quickly, had me pretty immersed in it. Definently recommended.

I'm anxiously awaiting Borat - the movie. It'll be in cinemas here on my 20th birthday, November 1. If anyone has seen it, please rate and comment it for me:)

It comes out this Friday here in the US. I really want to see it, but no theatres around here are playing it. It's only going to be shown in 800 theatres over the US, a lot less than normal. The only site I got results from said the closest theatre playing it was in Michigan, 236 miles away :o .

The two theatres I go to both have it - coincidentally I live in Michigan. ;)

I got tickets for a sneak peak last week, along with a lot of my friends, but I had too much homework that night to see it. :(

Tanin no Kao (The Face of Another) - After PITFALL and WOMAN OF THE DUNES this is the third collaboration between Japanese new wave director Teshigahara, writer Kobo Abe and composer Takemitsu. And out the three, this might just be my favorite. It's theme is very interesting. The unlimited possibilities and influence on society when you can change identity. Or more important, what determines your identity. And then how it is worked out. Cinematographie is flawless, and the art direction is out of this world. Add to that the psychedelic score by Takemitsu which adds up to the distanced and cold atsmosphere of the movie. The only part I didn't find that interesting was the sub-plot of the beautiful girl. A recommendation! 9/10

And I also saw All the President's Men which was a very good political thriller. Especially the scenes with informant DEEP THROAT were brilliant. The duo of Redford and Hoffman was very succesfull as well. Movie managed to suck you in and spit you out with a scary feeling of paranoia, without getting violent. Not only for those all-knowing about the watergate scandal and politics in general.

Great to hear you enjoyed Otto e Mezzo, Devilsdragon. It's quite complex, but it's very instinctive as well, so everybody can enjoy it. :)

What a monster topic..

Well i watch approximately a movie a day recently (viva la high speed internetconnection :-$ )

Last three were:

Videodrome by Croneberg - idk.. it's a little 80s and Bmovie. Somehow interesting though, because first you think it's going to be a little pornographic a la emmanuell or something but then it develops into a surrealistic something, that actually has more depth then you migth think at first.

Those magnificent men and their flying machines - a 60ties comedia playing around 1910 about flying machines. Nice to watch but pretty meaningless.

Thank you for smoking - Great! really loved that one. Fun & entertaining and at the same time lights the smoking witchhunt from an interesting point of view.

The Departed - I'm going to have to say my favourite Scorsese film so far. I was kind of wondering why it was so high on the IMDb list, but it definently belongs there. Awesome movie.

EDIT: 2 more :P

The Great Dictator - Of the three Charles Chaplin films I've seen, this one was my least favourite. I thought that was kind of odd, since this isn't silent. I guess his sort of humour is best in silent films.

American Movie - A documentary about a filmmaker trying to make a movie. I guess as far as documentaries go it is ok. Kept me interested.

q8tsigindy500fan.jpg

indy500fanan9.jpg

Cannibal Holocaust - Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The part when humans are killed wasn't shown nearly clearly enough to be considered sick or discusting. The only time they really showed any butchering was with the turtle. That wasn't bad at all, I've seen animals butchered before. I grew up on a farm, so nothing dealing with animals in this movie was anything different. The only thing that was sick were the rape scenes. Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I don't know, just something about it really was good with the movie.

Seen Saw 3 last night... it was okay, but not the best one. Number 2 was better.

Harrington.gif

I recently saw Lord Of War, I found it a quite interesting movie. It tell's about international illegal weaponary selling.

Resident Evil 2 - Fairly good. A bit iffy with how people can be affected by the disease though. Like at the gates some guy just falls down dead or whatever then wakes up a few minutes later as a zombie and bites a guy. Then it takes like .... a long time and he still doesn't get it :x Maybe it's just more potent in the air or whatever, but still :-?

yeah...and the fact that the already dead people come out from the graveyard...LAME.

last film seen - friday, next friday and friday after next. HILARE *gayhand* hand's down, funniest film's ever.

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?

Final Fantasy

Currently Listening To ~ Hotel California / The Eagles

Salaire de la peur, Le - The whole first 2/3 of the movie I wasn't too happy with it. Thought it was kind of a lame story, and a lot of it just didn't make sense. By the end I was pretty happy with it though, it seemed to turn pretty enertaining. If you have a chance, might as well watch it.

Man on Fire - Was a little bit less than it was in my memory. And that's mostly because of a few horrible moments and the cinematographie giving me headaches. Other than that it's quite alright. Just don't really like how Tony Scott went in another way with his MTV action movies.

The Proposition - :worship: Damn, what a watch. :XD: Brilliant is one of the words that comes to mind. But I don't like that word so I won't use it. Just go see it!

Mysterious Skin - Meh, it was alright, I guess. Didn't really care too much for it. While I really looked forward seeing it. Levitt is always a pleasure to see on the screeen though. Great actor.

Last night i saw the movie Silent Hill which i have to say was really good. The creepy was great and well written. Makes me want to buy the game now.

bacchanaliankq6.png

I saw Prestige just now. I don't know if its the not-so-good mood that I had, or it's because I had too high expectations. But the movie was pretty normal to me. It didn't really live up to the hype that I've read and heard about.

Ju-On2: Ok so Ju-On is the original Japanese version of the Grudge. Ju-On2 is the sequel but doesn't really follow the American ones.

Its in Japanese, so you will probably be reading the movie, i did. I have to admit it didn't take away from the utter creepiness of the movie. You have to pay HARD attention because you only get fragments of the story. The first chronological event after a brief intro doesn't happen until 30mins in. As you watch it tell a story of how "The Curse" kills each character. Watching closely will be rewarded with overlapping secrets and a deeper sense of understanding in the movie. By the end you will almost have it figured out. The movie is at times disturbing and WILL send chills up your spine. The inhuman movement of the Women "Curse" is disturbingly creepy.

The final sequence of the movie is utterly powerful and almost moving. I wont spoil it for you, but the human emotion is something to behold for what was happening.

The movie may not make you jump, but the subtle scares will make you shiver, especially in the dark.

Finally if you paid near perfect attention (ESPECIALLY the beginning), you will be rewarded with the final piece of the puzzle, completing the time line of events.

Great movie, go rent it now and watch it in the dark.

Sig

Annie Hall - First Woody Allen film I've seen, and I liked it. It's a little different, and the story was OK, overall a pretty good movie.

Capote - A biographical type film, but it still is a drama. Exactly like the book Truman Capote was writing during the film. It was pretty good, but it was slow. If you are wanting an action packed movie you won't get it here, but it does keep you interested.

So I sawFlushed Away since Borat was sold out like 8 shows in advanced :x

and it was alright. It didn't have the subtle humor that Over the Hedge had, or the storyline of Toy Story or Shrek. It did have a few laughts and the slugs, which were an important part of the laughs. It just get's an ok.

Corpse Bride - Another great Tim Burton movie. So it is odd, and has a lot of the same actors/actresses, it is dark, and a little freaky. I could see how someone wouldn't really like that style. I like it however, and I like it a lot.

I wouldn't call it great but one of the reasons I did go see it was because of the style.

Brazil - This movie is kind of odd. It is a dystopian movie, in fact it is also known as "1984 1/2". I'm really just taking things write off the imdb page, since they explain it pretty well. Pretty much Orwell with Monty Python thrown in. I definently enjoyed it, and I loved the ending.

Minority Report - Let my sister borrow this about half a year ago. Only movie I've had lent out for a long time. Because I didn't have it in my possession, I really wanted to watch it :P . Finally got it back the other day, but too much other stuff to watch. After watching Brazil, and since it's the Fifth of November and everything, I decided another dystopian movie would be good. And I did enjoy it, just as much as the first time.

I'm only halfway through it.. I have relatives in town so I'm watching it in bursts >_> <_<

But since we had nothing better to do today, we saw The Departed and, even though I'm not feeling in the best mood(FYI-tequila, crown&coke and carrot cake DON'T mix.. unless of course you are looking for a reason to vomit) anyways.. it was amazing. The ending was perfect(my aunt didn't like the part where dicaprio died)

if you havn't seen it, go watch it. now.
