Guest
hey people, I recently noticd while mining rune ore they very rarely give both persons that are mining a rune ore. It doesn't happen that much.... Anyone knows the game logistics behind this? Since I just saw myself getting a rune ore from a rock that had been emptied 0.5 seconds before that, it's not a bad thing, just a weird thing, and maybe does it happen because I am 99 mining? be free to discuss what might cause these slight errors :P
3hitm4g3u
I've had the same thing happen a few times on my new account with iron ore. It's happened like twice, not very often at all.
spyderownzyou
it has to do with the game's timers on resources, or maybe lag on the server? It happened to me on mithril ores before now, and is highly unlikely it's caused by your mining level seeing as I'm under 70 and it happened to me a few times, although it is rare. You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face. Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...

sadukar123
It's when you both get lucky and get the ore at the same time. db300
I don't have the level to mine rune, obviously, but it has happened to be before on coal. Don't really know the explanation behind it though.
Silver_Corner
The logic behind this is very similar to the "double ruby bolt special" event. Once in awhile on a team, if two rangers are attacking at the same exact time, and the both special a ruby bolt special at the same time, the game does not have enough time to compute that the monsters HP was lowered, thus both players hit the max special. So if 2 people both ruby bolt speced on a KBD spawn, they would both hit 48, doing a total of 96 damage. The same logic is for mining, or pretty much anything else that can be done with more than one person at a time. Your character tells the server it should spit out a rune ore at the same time as the other persons does. Your request gets there before the reply comes back that the ore is empty and thus you both get the ore.
Toad
Just understood what you mean, as a player mentioned above it's similar to the ruby spec, it's just about chance of you both sucessfully getting the ore at the same time.

But good computer logic in the part where it mines the rock, it should check to see if its empty or not. Apparently, it doesnt, which means the check is earlier, so, this is why it happens. toast647
I have been mining iron with someone else trying to steal my rock. We both got it for like a whole inventory. With iron if you're like 40+ mining you get it in one hit, so because we got it at the same time we both got ores. Armadyllo
I think I'd like them NOT to fix this. It doesn't happen often enough to be a threat to the economy.

We're talking about getting an ore from a rock a second AFTER somebody has taken the ore. NOT at the same time. It isn't a big deal at any rate though. Smackapotato
I think it's cause Jagex knows how hard you're working Mauranius to get 99 pray and they wanted to help give you a little boost. EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it.

Imcleith
Maybe a combination of both getting the ore at the same time and lagg?

Dexek
I don't think that's ever happened to me (except with maybe logs?) It's pretty cool though. Now I want to get a friend and continually attempt to mine ores at the same time and see if we can each get an ore. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

the_korny
I can confirm that it happened to me with gold ore. Even got an extra ore because of my Varrock Armour 3. I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

lagatag
This happened to me once that I know of, only because the other guy was a [puncture] and tried to gloat in my face how he got the ore and I didn't, but I did.
Kidd_Varrow
It's been this way for years. For some reason, your character continues mining for a second or two after someone else gets the ore, thus making it possible for you to still get it after they did.
