Labour Capes- new and edited-only exclusive f2p item

Featured Replies

[hide=What are Labour capes?]Labour capes are like skillcapes but they are a degrade, you can get them in any skill if you get past lvl 85 in a skill, then you can get it from the appropiate skill master by talking to him about labour capes. They are available for every skill like skillcapes. They cost 17500. But they are only available to f2p, yes just f2p(see the section on "Why are Labour Capes only f2p?"). If you get one but then you become p2p the cape will degrade, if you cancel your membership, you can still get a labour cape but as soon as you get a new membership it degrades. F2p players can get to p2p skill masters by talking to doomslayer and asking him about labour capes then asking to him to teleport you to the appropiate skill master to teleport you there, once you get there you can only talk to the skill master about labour capes you cant do anything else. The labour capes have all the same characteristics as skillcapes. It would be great if someone could come up with a new name instead of "labour capes" and also a sig.

Note:1.They are not skillcapes as they dont look as good as skillcapes and they are only a cape they dont have the shoulder bit and hood which they have in skillcapes.

2. They also reward players for getting a skill past 85 in only f2p as you can get 100% f2p written down on the bottom of the cape in a contrasting colour to the colour of the cape this costs an extra 5000 coins. You can only get 100% f2p written on the cape if you have never been p2p and you get 85 in a skill and then you talk to the skill master he will give you the cape and he will remember you were 100% f2p when you got the cape. The same rules apply for 100% f2p labour capes, if you become a member even with an 100% f2p labour cape it degrades[/color][/hide]

[hide=Why do we need labour capes?]Labour capes are for f2p players. Getting past 85 in f2p is very time consuming and not alot of people get past 85 in a skill, so at last this is their chance to be recognised for their achievement of getting above 85, so they would be able to be recognised for their achievment for once. They also let 100% f2p players be recognised for their achievement of getting past 85. So it is very much needed for f2p players and it is also a kind of a solution for f2p.[/hide]

[hide=Why are Labour Capes only f2p?]Labour Capes are only f2p because if they were for all players then the rarity of it would become much less so consequently they wouldnt be as special, which would make them pointless. The whole point of Labour Capes are to reward f2p players for getting past 85 in a skill, if it were members as well then there would be tons of labour capes around as it is very easy to get past 85 in a skill in p2p, so then because there were so many labour capes around it wouldnt feel much of an achievement for those f2p players who had worked so hard to get past 85 as everyone had them.[/hide]

[hide=Why isnt it unfair on members?]It isnt unfair on members because they have their skillcapes which is an upgrade of a labour cape. Getting past 85 in members isnt much of an achievement so if they did have they wouldnt take much notice of it as everyone would be trying to get to a skillcape. As i said earlier if members had it it would ruin the whole reward thing for f2p as so many people would have it.[/hide]

wow first f2p wants members items and priveledges and now they want items to be exclusively for them... many skill capes arent even rare anymore but there is ideas going around and they are quite possible that skillcapes may become f2p so why make labour capes for skill 85 if they may have skillcapes soon

why cant f2p be happy with the 1500+ hours of free game play they have plus the few updates they still receive... quit asking for more... wq=hen more comes enjoy it since your getting it for nothing

I'm sorry, what updates has f2p received recently? Why are members so against anything new being added to the free game? It's been stated that the free game is not meant to be a demo, so why can't we get updates and have access to new things?[/rant]

That being said, I have to agree with funnyjoker; I don't think this is a good idea. There would be far too many of these and they would become nothing more than another item that you see everyone have. Heck, skillcapes are all over the place in f2p as it is.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

Why 85, not 99?

Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..

85 very easy achievment in every skill? never been p2p? not every skill is easy to achieve 85+ also not in p2p..

I agree with you on the point with some kind of skillcape for f2p, but it should be 99... just as members

PurplSlayR.png

PurplSlayR.png

I'd say just leave it as skillcapes for f2p, maybe with certain limitations and such (like can't be trimmed, maybe the emote isn't as good as the members one, etc.).

It isnt unfair on members because they have their skillcapes which is an upgrade of a labour cape. Getting past 85 in members isnt much of an achievement so if they did have they wouldnt take much notice of it as everyone would be trying to get to a skillcape. As i said earlier if members had it it would ruin the whole reward thing for f2p as so many people would have it.

And this is why this idea fails. Getting past 85 is a huge achievement in members, just not as much as F2P. If you say it isn't, here's a little math for you.

There are approx. 1.9 million people on the Fletching highscores list. Less that 230,000 of those are higher than 85.

There are over 2 million people who would qualify to be on the high scores for Firemaking. Less than 75,000 of those are higher than 85.

Thus, mathematically, approximately less than 12.5% of members are above 85 in fletching, and only 3.75% of players have 85+ firemaking. If we made these capes F2P only, there would be outrage, not only from the mebers with stats over 85, but also from the members who are close to/aiming for 85+ in a skill.

F2P should get skill capes or something like them, but not ones that are just F2P. Then all the members with 99 would quit so that they could get a cape that's "more special," or they'd quit because they can't get the cape because their 85+ is in a members' only skill.

Because jagex employees don't work for free.

Good thing "free players" pay for 7% of their paycheck then, right?

Why promote F2P then P2P pays for the game?

Seems counter productive to me.

You claim that it is very easy to get 85 in a skill on members. I believe that is a very incorrect statement. Have ever played on members? It is not that easy to get 85 in level with members. Also, you're saying that that is not an achievement to get an 85 on members. I have to say that is a bunch of bologna. Getting ANY level whether you have a Runescape membership or not is an accomplishment. Heck, that's why you get fireworks and a message saying "Congratulations, you just got XX in this skill." You don't need some dumb cape to prove that getting XX level in a skill is an accomplishment.

I believe Jagex will not and should never accept this idea of a F2P only "labor cape."

Anti-support, and for the same reasons everyone else has already given you. Just make skillcapes for f2p skills available to f2p players. 85 isn't that much of an achievement, even on members. Trust me.

We want to give f2p updates, but there's no need to give them a cape that only they can have. All that's going to do is persuade more people to stay free players, which is anti-productive to the whole "wanting to make money," thing. lol.

Typical [bleep]y F2Per.

The reason that you want something new is because you arn't satisfied with being given a decent quality game with a variety of different things to do for free. You want updates that reward you for playing (mostly with no gain for Jagex). 85 in F2P doesn't take long in any skill other than Runecrafting.

Just make skillcapes f2p. It's not much effort on Jagex's part, and anyone who gets 99 in a skill should get some recognition for it.

ok so I agree on the point that F2Pers should get a skill cape but just make it a normal one that cant be trimmed its much simpler and not giving F2P its own thing.

and to all the people going "f2p shouldnt get anything they dont pay!!!!" get a life 99 in any skill is a massive achivement so just shut up.

I can only imagine the amount of rants on the forums if, rofl...

No support.

Why reward people for never being members? As clearly you don't want them to be members, then cancel membership and buy that special f2p cape *rolls eyes*

Creating anything that is f2p only, is extremely counterproductive to producing a successful game.

The new skill that is currently being worked on is going to be f2p as well (for the guy who said f2p never get updates)

The dual arena was given to f2p. Wilderness capes. FOG. Great orb project. Clan wars... f2p gets updates, only not as often as members do. Which makes sense as the vast majority of jagex's income comes from memberships.

I do give support to allowing f2p to buy and wear skill capes though. Including trimmed skill capes.

I don't really think Labor Capes are a good idea. 85 anything is not that great, really.

If anything, F2P should be able to buy/wear skillcapes for all F2P skills, whether or not they are trimmed or un-trimmed.

@ to all the "FAIL F2P" idiots: Shut up. Getting a 99 is a major achievement in any skill, P2P or F2P, so saying that F2P should not get any recognition is a very stupid argument. We F2Pers are players too, you know. Stop looking down on F2P just because we have more of the "immature" players (which aren't that immature, really), and just because we do not pay. Paying or not, we are part of the player base, so we deserve equal respect as the P2Pers. Saying that our game should be bad just because it is a demo is also flawed, because, with bad demos come less subscribers.

Gosh, with every F2P thread comes with stubborn P2Pers flaming about F2P... Just stop the flaming, will ya guys?

Obviously an F2P user.

Level 85 is still just as hard in members as it is in f2p.

And why on earth would jagex make something ONLY for f2p?!

Although i think a sort of level 99 skill cape for f2p would be ok. Something a little less glamorous, just a normal cape without the extra soulder pads or ribbons and stuff.

~! PM me if you need help with your clans website !~

Truth is F2P is just that, Free. You shouldn't get anything special or extraordinary for NOT paying for a membership. You don't , or can't pay, so be it. You get what you get. This game is supported by paying players, including the free to play worlds. So,in my opinion, beggers shouldn't be so choosy.

no support sorry, the idea of an achievement cape for level 85 doesnt really suit a purpose, so i don't agree with it, the cost doesn't seem logical but the nail that sealed the coffin was the f2p only idea. that is absolute nonsense.

good intentions but really needs to be thought out.
