These kinds of movies don't really thrill me. I mean, yea, the destruction and seeing everything blow up is the [cabbage], but still, they get kinda boring if that's all they have. And you can only watch the destruction of the Statue of Liberty/Eiffel Tower so many times (because disaster movies always use one or both of them. Always.)

I wanna watch it, it's factually flawed but still good entertainment.

I've been getting mixed opinions of this movie. Then again alot of the people I know who have seen it have never heard of the Mayans. But I don't know.

I like watching apocalyptic films so I'm thinking this movie should also be good if it has some nice special effects and some good acting. I'm not one for believing in this whole "2012" thing but if it turns out to be real, then perhaps this movie will prepare us for the actual disaster. :P

Doubt I'll watch it, the whole concept just seems like one huge facepalm that you can get for free on the History Channel.

I honestly thought that the trailer for it was just a piss-take of all disaster movies, it just seemed so stupid and over-the-top. But since it's actually a real movie, apparently, I suppose I'll end up watching it, if only to kill time in class. Who could get tired of watching things crumble into other smaller things and explode?

Who cares about the story, I just want to see [cabbage] blown up!

A friend of mine saw it and said it was pretty bad :-? Though I'm sure I'll see it anyway.. I've enjoyed several movies that got terrible reviews. The only review that really matters to me is my own :P

I saw the movie, and i rate it a 7/10.

 

The biggest flaw in the movie is the length of it.

 

2 hour and 48 minutes of sitting in a theater is bad enough, but the 2nd half of the movie made it even worse.

 

The beginning 1:50 min was awesome. Explosions everywhere, anything that could be broken, broke. Half of California was liften up and dumped in the water, the ground was rolling and volcanoes were sprouting everythwere. Everywhere you look is action.

 

The second half was kind of a let-down compared to the first.

All is it is the main characters closing the door on the Ark, before they crash into Mt. Everest. It was not actiony, but a major bore to watch.

 

 

Overall i thought it was a decent action movie, i wish there was more comedy however.

I saw the trailer a while ago; although I'm not one for apocalyptic, or Roland Emmerich's movies for that matter, I was just astounded by the great work with the special effects.

Looks gash. I've heard the only good thing is watching it in 3d with the special effects, which don't actually kick in until 45 minutes in...and that the characters are really badly developed and generic.

Suppose most of it is how it's based on complete scepticism...still, suppose it's just another "go to the cinema" movie.

Bleh.

It's all about the visuals, which is awesome, but tbh it seems like the action starts to die down in the last half hour.

 

But Woody Harrelson is in it, so I can forgive anything thats wrong with it.

I agree. I saw it a few days ago expecting the Day after Tomorrow type film. Fairly serious, kind of adult film in a way. But the 2012 film felt so cheesy and too centred around the central character. Especially the car part near the beginning going through the city while it was being destroyed, it felt more of a comedy parody than a big budget special effects showing.

I saw it a week ago, it was pretty good, well, not good, but it was enjoyable. Unbelievably corny though.
