pegpenguin
who do you think is the best bass player? honestly no one gives these guys the credit they deserve, Geddy Lee, Les Claypool, Chris Squire, they are all huge influences on my music and they are crazy good. So who do you like most? what do you like about him? cause he's funky, smooth, or just really really fast? haha
mcneilp
Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy is my favourite. I don't care if he was the best technical player or whatever, he just looked badass playing it. RpgGamer
KoRn, Red-Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, and Rage Against the Machine all have incredible bass players. As for their names, only Flea's comes to mind. But out of them, I'd probably asy Tool is my favorite bass. The Pot <3 [amazing bass song] Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. D Jay99
Doug Keyser from Watchtower is pretty good, as is Alex Webster who was mentioned earlier. Also, Lars Norberg of Spiral Architect would deserve a mention since he plays on a fretless bass, and pretty well at that. Maybe a little too technical for his own good though. I like funky bass players much better. Playing super fast gets boring after a while. It sounds too "regular guitar-like". Honestly I made it through ~2 minutes of each of the posted videos before I got bored. Yesterday I watched a 15 minute funk improv and it seemed to go by so quickly. He was never the showman that Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey, and Pete Townshend were, but he was just as talented.
