Used to steal pokemon cards, and trade to classmates for Lego sets and pog slammers.

Ah, the monthly 'Remember the old days' threads.

No over protection, being allowed to climb trees, be out until after dark (I live in the country).

 

 

But the best experience of youth prior to now was getting hurt, being disgusting, getting ill. God knows how the youth of today will survive outside of their antibacterial polished homes.

Ahh Red Rover! I remember playing that at school and getting in trouble because it was banned at school. That's the only game that I recall being banned at school so of course we had to play it.

 

Another thing I remember is that I wanted to draw a pretty picture when I was about 7 so I grabbed some spray paint from the garage and decided to decorate the sidewalk and fire hydrant. My dad had to pay to get it removed lol.

Oh yes. Favorite game of mine was dodge ball. I was a awesome dodge ball player back in middle school. But it was banned in schools in West Virginia in my 7th grade because the bullies would just throw balls at the weaker people of the class. was so pissed when that happened <_<

I remember playing red rover at camp and this kid got straight up close lined. It was pretty funny, not going to lie.

Red Rover, Dodgeball and Manhunt was what we used to play the most.

Manhunt was my favourite. Basically just a massive game of hide and seek. Literally 20-30 kids from my street and round about would spent the whole day playing it. Wish i was that age again.

I'm still enjoying my childhood.

And loving most of it.

I remember the days of long, pointless bike rides, building dens, thinking a police helicopter was chasing us for building a den (suprisingly, it wasn't!), being stopped by a bald security guard telling us off for spraying cars with water (which we didn't), so we complained and he was removed (he had a major attitude problem and accused us of doing that, then kept following us in the store and asking if we had a problem with him :razz: )

 

Also the games of shooting each other with toy guns, these days you'd have a police car stopping and conviscating them. :razz:

Here's a list of things that I loved to do as a kid:

 

-Boy Scouts (building those wooden cars and competing with them)

-Playing Mario 64

-Going to my cousins' house and playing on the Super Nintendo with them

-Legos

-Visiting my childhood best friend in Colorado and playing with Legos and the Gamecube

-Going to a skating rink in Fort Worth and having a birthday party there

-Playing with Pokemon cards with teenagers and thinking I was cool because I made friends with "the older kids".

 

When I lived in Texas, I would play outside a lot because we lived in the countryside. I would dig holes, mess around with stones and sticks, and destroy fire ant hills with waterguns. My elementary school was across the street (would have to walk through a field that was part of the school property in order to get there) and play something called "Pickle Ball" in the gym. It was like playing tennis with a bouncy ball across a shorter net (sort of hard to explain). We would also play Badminton.

 

Let's not forget Field Day at school! That was a lot of fun. Instead of a normal school day, we would play athletic games involving 50-yard dashes, badminton, kickball, hula-hoop, basketball, waterballoon fights, and other things. As far as I'm aware, only elementary schools in Texas have these events. They were terribly fun.

 

OH [cabbage]! Let's not forget Inventors' Fair (3rd grade) and Science Fair (4th grade). In third grade, I "invented" this gardening tool made out of PVC pipe for digging holes called the "Twist N Dig". It actually worked! (although barely) For the Science Fair, I did an easy experiment showing density (put honey, oil, and water in the same container and see which floats). Fun times.

 

Oh, and in fourth grade, I had a crush on a girl in my class. She knew it and would tease me about it in order to get me to blush. Ironically, her friend was obsessed over me, although her friend was a Ginger (I was freaked out by red hair for some reason) and was obsessive (so I was creeped out).

That reminds me of a 5th grade science fair I had. I think I am the only person here who has shot themselves in an asignment :grin: .

Something I did when I was younger was fight friends with sticks. Sounds odd, but we had SO MUCH fun doing it. What we would do is something like role playing. We would make up a character and give him attacks, hit points and magic. And we would fight each other till we ran out of HP. Man im getting goose bumps just thinking about it now. I was good stick fighter back in the day. Either used 2 short swords, or a long arm type weapon. Damn...I miss those days.

We used to do that, except that we used foam swimming noodles instead of sticks. The swimming noodles were more fun to use since they were longer, didn't hurt, and didn't break when we hit someone.
