Okay, that's good. I'm actually still reading the 4e rules, so I'll need a few days (Probably about a week) to finish those and get a basic campaign ready. In the meantime, you guys should read the players handbook, which can be found by googling "D&D 4e players handbook pdf". Yarr.

Speaking of the 4e rules... personally I have found that I don't exactly like 'em (my main reason being is that they really neuter casters [that and some other more... irritating things [i have just looked through casting classes and they completely cut out the summon monster spells [and some other spells [like I believe shadow evocation] and it appears that they cut out the schools of magic]])

But in 3.5, fighters were completely useless. Wizards had all these cool, varied spells to use, wheras fighters were:

*Full attack*

*Wait*

*Full attack*

*Wait while the wizard uses a spell to nuke the enemies ranks*

*Do nothing, every monster was killed by the magic users*

in 4e, every class gets powers to use. The magic user powers are generally more magic orientated, and the rogue, fighter and paladin powers are more interesting than full attacking ten times until you kill a single enemy.

They didn't so much neuter casters as make them balanced. We never played to above level 4, so it wasn't apparent, but around level 8 or 9 or so, the wizard would be annihilating everything while the fighters stood back and couldn't do much since the wizard destroyed everything too quickly.

Are summon monster spells really that big a deal?

I mean, I'm just asking you to try it for a few games. If we find that we aren't having as much fun as 3.5, we can go back to it afterwards.

PS. Grim, have you found any way to upload the core rulebooks, by any chance?

Mmm.. Kind of, but I'm not so sure. I felt really claustrophobic, like I didn't know where anything was and was always trapped. Plus, I am trying to recreate the tabletop element...

What do you guys think?

Also, has everybody who wants to play read the players handbook? It details how to create a character, as well as the basic rules of 4e.

You'll all be in a mercenary company at the start, for plot convenience, so try to incorperate it into your character backstory. You don't need to, but hey, it kind of helps.

We should share vision. It seems sorta ridiculous when you have to turn around everytime you want to see anything. Also there isn't really much peripheral vision. Sight is more important, since we can't exactly hear or smell trouble, unless we actively roll on it, where it would be easier just to turn around.

Archi, you'll need to show me how to do it. I'm thinking that I'll have free vision, but it will be FoW as well, so you can see through other characters eyes, but everything else will be obscured.

Well then; has everyone who wants to play read through the core rules?(If ross doesn't mind I could upload the non psionic second rulebook [adds a couple of primal divine and arcane classes [as well as some races]]). Also any chance we could use the old 3.5e alignment system (at least for PC's)?

I dunno, it just seems unnecessary.

What did you have in mind?

About the second handbook... Well, I'm not so sure.

I'll allow the classes, but lets just stick with the core races, okay?

Ah thanks (and thanks again the classes were the more interesting bits of it) I will upload it shortly. On a completely un related note I am trying to find a working character generation tool for 4e (once I find it I should be able to upload it as well [possibly in .zip or rar format)
