To change the subject, I hate when people disagree with my movie tastes. I know I shouldn't, I don't care when other people like different music and shows, but when it comes to movies, it really pisses me off. Especially when it's a damn good movie. Like American History X, American Beauty, Fight Club or Donnie Darko.

Who the hell disagrees with those? I'd like to hear what kind of movies they watch.

SF Chronicle Critic Mick LaSalle. The only man who gets paid to review things who will review a kid's movie poorly for lacking a greater purpose or appeal to an older audience, or an action movie for having too much action and not enough meaning.

 

That kind of person in general as well, who looks down on anything that doesn't have a greater message behind it, whether it's a real message or not. I believe that they do so in order to feel superior and intelligent when nobody else "gets" it...

That sounds like half the critics they have around here, only to a somewhat lesser extent. The other half don't seem to hate any movies, though, which is just as bad.
