It really changes the more you play......

When I first started out Runescape, I followed my friend everywhere. I was afraid to go anywhere or do anything by myself. He showed me good training spots, got me weps and armor and walked me through quests.. I loved Runescape, and how medieval-like it was. I saw people selling rune for 200k, and I was amazed at how rich people were. Heck, I was afraid to leave the spot I was at till my friend got on. I used to hate Dark Wizards, they would kill you if you walked passed them :?

Now, 8 months and a membership later, Runescape doesn't have those same feelings...

I could buy 3 setd of full rune with my spare cash, and I can get to any place you ask me to go to within minutes. I have 126 quest points now too. I could kill a Dark Wizard 2 or 3 times over with my best hit. Runescape just doesn't have that medieval feeling anymore either, and the new feeling starts to fade.

Sometimes I wish I could go back to those days......

Well, to be honest, Jagex have always said Runescape is not based in a time genre, so it's not meant to be medieval.

I'm with you though, the mistique about certain armour, certain quests. The feeling of enormous well-being when you completed dragon slayer. It's like watching a comedy sketch, it's never as funny the next time you see it.

When I first started way way way back, I remember a friend of mine talking about one of his friends, and how he was so cool, and so good, etc, and then one day, I remember running into this friend, I told him about what my friend had said, and he bought me my first pair of armour :D

Make a newb account again XD

I always think about that, but what is the point when you know everything and everywhere? Runescape doesn't have its massive feeling anymore, no matter what I do........I won't be thinking about how rich people with full rune are, or how quests are too hard, as I've seen and done much much more......

True, i liked the old days, you were a newb, knew nothing, and when you thought a bronze scimmy was sooo awesome... then you found people to mke you mithril armor, a full set!! And you got better with nice people that helped with the many things you needed. Something happened when the second version of RuneScape came out, it was too classic to gives things to newbs out of the kind of your heart, no help on quests unless they were stuck also, and definitly no one would help you find out what things were... i miss those days... i wish i could go back and just take in all the happyness of falador east and the entire runescape world, but.... those days dies years ago...

I also remember those great days. Classic was freaking awesome, you knew almost everyone (there wasnt 100k+ ppl a day playing). Phats were only a few hunder K and and the economy was actually functiong well.

The completion of Runescape 2 3D killed those days. Also the addition of Runescape to Miniclip brought great greif to us long time players. The economy is now flowing because the few rares left, and because of all the inflation of items.

Back when I began I was killed by a lvl 9 man about 7 times before I killed it. It was my greatest accomplishment.. until I died to a lvl 7 Giant Spider.

Oh well, now everything is too easy. Jagex did well to the mass, but terrible to the minority (RSC players).

Lol, yah, I still remember way back in RS1 my friend told me about it... and he helped me get the Addy B Axe and I could like own everything I could find... lol.

Then I still have my e-mails between me and my other friend from when i started playing again, and it was so funny, we thought of the best money making ideas in the whole game, such as "making holy amulets and selling them to the general store for 20gp each!!!!!!!!!!!", lol, it was so different... :)

Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.

I used to want a rune long not anymore..i'm just leveing really is all it is I like the story but I don't like running all over the world

Yeah, its easy to see that the old days of runescape were 10x better then the new ones. I started back in early-mid 2002 and just like you, i always waited for my friend to get on, and when he wasn't i would train...i ended up having like 2k from training(WHOA) and i traded the black 2h that a friend gave me for a mith mace that some dude said owned..(Pfft, Right)...anyway my friend got me another 2h, and it was awesome, then i started mining and quickly got to 60 mining and mined coal...was saving up for a r2h when halloween came around..sweet 5 or so masks...so i traded 1 for 2 rune longs, i was plain rich....least i thought so, then the worst thing ever happened...i was hacked..i quit for a long time, came back and bam i was back on it. Gained some major cash from mining, got to lvl 70..my mining lvl has been around 74 since rsc...

The old days were great, I remember when my friend's cousin showed me and him runescape, so me any my friend were competing to be the best and I won eventually and he quit playing. I played alone for a long while (few years) and after that I bought a blue partyhat for 10 mil and a couple santa hats and a pumpkin and a few easter eggs. Then I met a new friend on RS who I thought I could trust, but I couldnt, and he hacked me, took all my stuff so I quit for a year and now I'm back at it been playing for around 40 days and got my skill total from 890-1020 and my combat from 75-83 and my money from 0-1.5 mil.

I agree with you 100%, especially on the medieval thing. It used to be.. low tech mithril weapons, classical mining and smithing, good quests, basic magic.

Now it's been complicated.. we have 21st century barrows armours, magic spells that kill 9 people at once, it's like RS2 was the age of enlightenment, and RS has turned into the modern era :(

You've got it down there. But that's why I decided to quit members. Sounds weird but allow me to explain.

As a member I get my weekly update and I'm happy with it for the most part, but occasionaly I finish all the update or the update holds no interest for me. I'm now at a point which everything is relatively boring. I figured if I stop being a member for a while then I'll be able to make up all the new quests/areas/items that I missed out. Much will be new to me and that feeling of excitement will return!

But for now I'm stuck with mining essence (need 26k) and coal and iron (for high alching/increasing mining and smithing levels).

My IRL friends still play, but they're all stupid scammers. I try to distance myself from them now.

RSC was pretty cool, but RS2 is also innovative and interesting to play.

lol it dont work when you got a main who got all of the things you ever wanted

also doesn't work becuase you know the game so you can't get lost. you know hoe to get money so you can't be really poor etc it just doesn't have the new player new game feeling.

Agaisn't pures

Indeed it was, my cousin showed me this game a few years ago, he killed a goblin and said how fun it was, I thought it was the stupidest thing I ever saw in my life, then later that night, all bored. I called him up, got the site, and played.

I got like 8 firemaking and woodcutting and was amazed at my accomplishments. I understand exactly where you're coming from, RS was a lot funner back then, it was about fun, not money. Oh well, it's still fun to kill people in wildy and stuff like dat, it's a different fun now.
