Slurpn711
I once sold a beer to some guy for 16gp, talk about awesome! 16 pg was like killing 6 or 8 goblins. What a deal. I bragged about it to my real world friends, who laughted at the noob that bought the beer.. This was maybe 3 years ago. Since then all of my friends have quit. I have no one to brag about sellin beer to. It seems like all i do now is work work work. I do play mini games and what not every once in a while, but i do them alone. It was more fun with a little mystery and friends by my side. Thrills now come from leveling up. Rs is'nt for everyong, but I do still enjoy playing. Hangin loose. Marrentil can die. Thatonedude
Yeah, I think that everyone starts out playing this game with that feeling- only for it to go away after playing for a while. I always thought that it would be even better to be a high level and have a lot of money, but now I'd prefer to be back in my newb days.

Wrench_150
Those were the good days...even though nowadays RuneScape isn't so bad, it's still fun, yet lack the feeling you got when you first joined. 99 Fletch~~99 WC~~79/81 Fishing87/94 Magic~~84 RangeEtha! nubstyle
I use to love it when I was a noob well actually i hated it at first when a friend told me to play i killed a goblin yaaay (so bored) well then another friend showed me it a year later I fell in love with it I think what happens is at the beggining you were making such big accomplishments but then you get some skills past 30 and it just loses its touch everything seems like the same it was before your just lving pointlessly. I mean when your a noob you get some mith armour and you feel like a god but when you reach rune its like a limit. past that its all repetitiveness. I remember working for hours selling bronze stuff in fallador general and bragging that I could make 1k an hour then I got my first addy long I was unbelievably happy well then it got to getting rune items, this is where it gets kinda weird I was savin forever for a rune long so when I eventually had 20k I found a guy selling it he did the old noted iron long trick. I didnt play for a few days, I came back and suddenly realized the sky was the limit! I got my 20k back and fast made sure i didnt get scammed and it felt so great but i had and I realized the sky wasnt the limit there was a limit to how great you could get and how great you could feel and thats just when it lost its touch. and theres my life story. oops i mean description of why runescape loses its magic. yeah, i agree. i remeber the first time i got an addy weapon. my favorite weapon has always been the baxe, and i saw an addy one in a store, and it was like 4.5k  . so i killed men for a couple months, and then, when i finally had enough money, waited around in the baxe shop for 3 hrs waiting for it to respawn.(didnt really know about trading then). i was sooo happy when i got it, and just went out and owned some theives. but yeah, im still ftp, but once you realize "wow, i got rune. its cool and all but...is this it???." then you get a mil, and you realize you can buy 5-6 rune sets. i still <3 rs, but i miss that sense of wonder and amazement i got from seeing green dhide, or rune 2h, or lvl 80 players. nice year+ bump there kid. sig by Misterxman Un-Retired from RS X-mas 2009, 93/99 Fishing, 105 combat. Creaphis
I'll just ignore the thread-bumpage. When I started playing, I was very proud of myself for selling a few pieces of cooked meat for 33 coins (and a wizard hat). I fished shrimp, which were sold to the store in Port Sarim, so that I could buy myself a mith b axe - and I was very happy to get it. Back then I couldn't possibly have imagined that it's possible to be as rich as I am now, and I'm actually not very wealthy by Runescape standards. There aren't any abrupt changes in gameplay as you level up, but what I play now is a completely different game than what I played when I started, and sadly, it's impossible to go back. Yes, the world has shrunk. When you're a noob, you think that being a high level would give you limitless options and enjoyment, but the opposite is true. With 120 combat, and nearly 2000 total, I've run out of things to do. I've considered "starting over" with a certain kind of quest pure. I already know everything about this game, but quests have always been my favorite part of the game, so I don't mind revisiting them.
Atroxide
Make a newb account again XD Its still not the same, you know what to do and what not to do, you don't have that "new" feeling. And I miss it too :(

handman003
True, i liked the old days, you were a newb, knew nothing, and when you thought a bronze scimmy was sooo awesome... then you found people to mke you mithril armor, a full set!! And you got better with nice people that helped with the many things you needed. Something happened when the second version of RuneScape came out, it was too classic to gives things to newbs out of the kind of your heart, no help on quests unless they were stuck also, and definitly no one would help you find out what things were... i miss those days... i wish i could go back and just take in all the happyness of falador east and the entire runescape world, but.... those days dies years ago... =D> =D> =D> Resident Tip.it Cow. :^_^:[blog] [twitter]
baalboy5
take a scroll to the wild, meet the KBD, run from pker's kinda the same thing just different concepts am I right? Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored. WingedFish
I would suggest hitting yourself in the head repeatedly with a large brick, until the onset of brain damage/amnesia. Then you could discover RS all over again :P

BabyPunchers
God i loved the old days. I remember i was so proud when i finnaly got to lv10 and was a higher level than my lv9 friend. I also remember going all around rs looking for people with pieces of black armor because i did the math and i could get full with 8700 gold instead of paying 10k for the full set... ah good days... oh well there are benefits and new things to do when you're a higher level too. :) Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie.

HellsBells
Yeah...If you make a new level 3, it still isn't interesting because you know all the training places and how to make money. I remember when I finally mined 1000 rune essence and sold it for 30k. I though I had all the money in the world! I bought a shiny set of Mithril armor. I thought I was the best RuneScape player ever. Ah...memories. :D My F2P Moneymaking Guide!Always gargle before a takeoff. Wakka Wakka!
Embraced
I remember when i started, Runescape seemed so massive i never thought id know my way around. I got lost in lumbridge, i was stood in the field of cows and just could not figure out where i was. So i sent a screenie to my friend over MSN so he could come and find me. I used to make money (not much, but i was alot to me at the time) by going to the Chaos Temple north of fally, killing the men there and picking up all the steel maces they dropped until i had a full inventory and walking down to fally and selling them to the mace store, then repeat the process. P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.
Lugia_Lvl138
I remember when I started RS, I made money via Mining and Smithing. I would mine in Varrock, go down to Al-Kharid, go through the gate, smelt the ore in Lumby, go back through the gate, and go back to Varrock to hammer the bars. Bronze stuff didn't get a lot at the general store, especially since I was spending an unnecessary 20 gp a run. Didn't know about the Al Kharid furnace or the other road to Lumby . As I got up to steel smithing I remember seeing a Rune Pickaxe for 32k and thinking, that's crazy , I'll just stick with my Addy Pickaxe. But for some reason I decided to get the Rune Pickaxe. I got it by smithing steel swords and selling to Varrock sword shop and by making silver bars/holy symbols and selling to general stores. Didn't know that the steel bars could get me 500-600 each from other players. Somehow after that I eventually found better and better ways to train and make money and here I am today. The 32k I thought was crazy is now a mere 4-5 minutes of my Runecrafting time, a few lesser drops of a high level monster, or a direct reward from a level 3 clue. I don't think it's even been two years since I started. Farming was out when I started and that waterbirth island update looks strangely familiar :-k. Making a noob account doesn't work because now I know that cowhides are 100-150 ea and big bones are like 300 ea. 4x Phat owner: Blue, Green, 2x Purple 3100+ GWD bosses soloed.Solo GWD Drops:5 Bandos Plates, 4 Bandos Boots, 3 Bandos Hilts, 2 Arma Helms, Arma Skirt, Arma Plate, 3 Arma Hilts, 4 Zammy Spears, Steam Staff, 15 Sara Swords, 6 Sara Hilts, 29 Shards. malo2
I agree that the feel of runescape changes a lot, when I first played runescape it was very exiting and mysterious, and obviously, like everything else, the excitement wears off as you play longer (you think its different anywhere else in the world?). But I still like runescape a lot, that initial excitement about runescape wears off in just a few months, but after that it stays just as fun for years to come. I enjoy runescape just as much as I did a year ago, and although I take it less seriously, and become less competitive, I don't think it has anything to do with the game itself or how long I've played it for. I think it's just me as a person outside of runescape is maturing and becoming less competitive and serious about games. Anyway, runescape has been a great game the entire 4 years I have been playing for :) Lastfm
