Being a newbie is always soo much fun. Which is why i obsessively am always playing new games, lol 8)

When you've been doing the same things for so long, the game kind of loses it magical feeling.

True, i liked the old days, you were a newb, knew nothing, and when you thought a bronze scimmy was sooo awesome... then you found people to mke you mithril armor, a full set!! And you got better with nice people that helped with the many things you needed. Something happened when the second version of RuneScape came out, it was too classic to gives things to newbs out of the kind of your heart, no help on quests unless they were stuck also, and definitly no one would help you find out what things were... i miss those days... i wish i could go back and just take in all the happyness of falador east and the entire runescape world, but.... those days dies years ago...

I agree with you and everyone here. Though I don't blame the second version, I blame the massive increase in players. I use to help ( and still do with quests and helping people find their way if lost), but I don't give things away to people as much as I use to. Cause I've got SOOOOOOOOOOOO many more people asking for free stuff almost every time I sign on. Seems like no one wants to work for their riches anymore. I'm only a lvl 101 combat, but I get new players glued to my behind begging constantly. I almost cringe now when someone asks for help! I know they just want something for free (or 95% of the time that's all it is).

I've always worked for everything I get. I've never begged for anything, and I've died and lost it all MANY times.

The old runescape scammers just used the " give me your armour and I'll change it to a better one" scam. Now we got the "I got hacked" scam going on. That killed my kindness of giving away free stuff, that and the increase of people constantly asking for free stuff. I actually had a dude say that to me..."I just got hacked and lost everything", and I just said sorry like I always do. Next thing I see is him putting on full rune, drag hally, ammy of glory and black berret! Guess he was hacked by stupid hackers that forgot to take the good stuff! I think those people are the ones killing the game. I think they are the reason people are less likely to help than before.

The newer players (many many of them, but definitly not all) just plain don't want to work for the stuff, it's cool to have cool stuff and annoy long time players who have worked for their stuff. I've actually gotten to the point where I turn chat off and just keep it on friends so I can play in peace. Cause when I play, I'm just trying to relax and wind down my day, and all the begging just gets my angry! lol

Yes I lose the chance of making new friends, but as of late, the last 4 people I've added to my friends list were new people I was trying to help out and I had given free things to. Guess they thought they had a sure thing, and they just continued to ask for things. Finally I just added them to my ignore list. Got tired of working hard to keep them well stocked while my own supplies dwindled away.

wow, this is really a great topic. can something like this be stickied? it should be.

Now it's been complicated.. we have 21st century barrows armours, magic spells that kill 9 people at once, it's like RS2 was the age of enlightenment, and RS has turned into the modern era :(
very good analogy. i didn't start playing during rsc times, but i still do have that same kind of feeling, and it isn't really describable. but yeah, its still a good game, just in a different sense. having 170+ qp's and lots of money is great, but just starting a game that is this big, but not finding out how vast it actually was, is even better.

I also remember those great days. Classic was freaking awesome, you knew almost everyone (there wasnt 100k+ ppl a day playing). Phats were only a few hunder K and and the economy was actually functiong well.

Now I agree on all your points, and I do wish I could go back and keep the other phats I bought for 100k, but be honest, you didn't have a CLUE about the rs economy when you were that noob.

I use to love it when I was a noob well actually i hated it at first when a friend told me to play i killed a goblin yaaay (so bored)

well then another friend showed me it a year later I fell in love with it I think what happens is at the beggining you were making such big accomplishments but then you get some skills past 30 and it just loses its touch everything seems like the same it was before your just lving pointlessly. I mean when your a noob you get some mith armour and you feel like a god but when you reach rune its like a limit. past that its all repetitiveness. I remember working for hours selling bronze stuff in fallador general and bragging that I could make 1k an hour then I got my first addy long I was unbelievably happy well then it got to getting rune items, this is where it gets kinda weird I was savin forever for a rune long so when I eventually had 20k I found a guy selling it he did the old noted iron long trick. I didnt play for a few days, I came back and suddenly realized the sky was the limit! I got my 20k back and fast made sure i didnt get scammed and it felt so great but i had and I realized the sky wasnt the limit there was a limit to how great you could get and how great you could feel and thats just when it lost its touch.

and theres my life story. oops i mean description of why runescape loses its magic.

*SIGH* how i miss Classic, was much more fun, was certainly more of a challenge. These days its far to easy for RS2 Products to level and get rich.

I remember getting 10k range exp per hour at Ogres in Yanille, now its possible to get 30k plus an hour. Also being able to trade noted items has helped a lot, 1 transaction for 10k bow strings instead of 300+ trades  spent 2 hours on classic trading bow strings

true true ture very true everything u said is true,,,

now everyone is RICH or lets say u can GET anything u want...

so bad no more fun...

its only about challenges now.

Yes. I know at first I was craving for full rune.

And then after I got it I wanted 1M.

Then a year later I had a phat set, and could buy about everything I wanted.

Some people won't beleive it, but phats get boring pretty fast. It's more fun to live forward to something, rather then having it.

Oh well, there's still much more to do, you just have to find your own "thing".

For example find a skillt hat you really like, and level it to as high as possible while having fun with your friends. That's what I did at least.

Or stake everything you have to someone 15 levels higher with way better stats, and then quit for a while if you lose. That's what I did, also.

Now I'm feeling like playing again.

But really, when you can afford 3 rune sets, there's soooooo much more to do.

but...today i post to aggree with you when rsc was about and w00t abt 10,000 people playing the medival atmosphere was amazing first up i followed my friend he helped me with armour and i loved the idea of traingin up from lvl 3 to lvl whatever. One day i went into wildy with full addy, attked a lvl 35 in lvl 1 he was r2h and i was skulled. He 3 hit he...i stopped relying on my friend to supply me armour and rs took off for me and i started to play by myself, it was really good, fun (lol i was lvl 35 once!!!). when rs came out my two best mate irl that played quit but i carried on and im 103 today and love playing but i dont like the way there isnt that medival atmosphere anymore =(((((

I remember when I first started playing, I loved it. I got full bronze, but then lost it because someone pked me in dwarf mines  (Before wildy came out). And I remember doing dragonslayer and buying a rune plate... I felt awesome. And mining to buy my first rune battleaxe for 350k. Then I discovered pking, and made a new pure. I was on pures for like 1 year straight. The fun that you had in rsc pking was awesome. I don't think I have ever had more fun playing this game then when I was rsc pking. Then rs2 came out and it was all ruined... I liked rsc better than rs2 but never had a chance to switch over...
