Danqazmlp
The reason a majority of the complain s are complained about are because they are almost always discussion-less (new word woo). Complaining leads o complaining which leads to complaining. Complimenting leads to speculations which lead to discussions. And to be honest, from my point of view, when a whole page is just people complaining about a game delay, it makes the forum look bad. I certainly wouldn't join a forum where everybody looks miserable and argumentative. Anyway, quoting myself is fun, from the thread when they brought back BTS:I'm still holding reservations about the BTS. It seems glossy and nice now, but I remember how it was before if they missed an update by a week or held something back. The amount of flames they got if something got delayed was unbelievable, couple that with people speculating about updates from a few words and getting totally the wrong end of the stick and ranting too when the update wasn't what they had made it to be was annoying as hell. I can still see the same few people are going to rant about every update as it comes just as much as they did before. But I will hold on and hope still. Only had to wait until the second BTS to lose hope. Want to be my friend? Dexek
In my opinion they should only announce updates that are done, bug-tested, and ready. I dislike that the updates they announce at the beginning of the month aren't bug-checked until a few days until the update. Guess I'd go with whoever suggested they take a month out and just get their act together. I honestly wouldn't mind a month with 0 updates where Jagex was working on their updates, but would now be a month ahead of schedule from there on out. They would have their updates for the next month completed and polished before even letting the public know what to expect. They could then implement their updates accordingly while working on the next months without the stress of having to release it for that particular month. The only problem with this is they seem like the company that might have the mentality that "Ohh we're ahead a month, we can afford to hold back this update" which would get them back to square one. I completely understand there being unplanned setbacks, but as said earlier, with the BTS they should include some small text at the bottom just saying "This is what we hope to accomplish for this month. These updates may or may not occur, dependant on available time and potential setbacks. Have a great month!" Nothing wrong with covering their asses from hormonal teenagers. Hell, I think they do a great job with regular updates. I also love reading the BTS. The only bothersome thing is feeling they have set a deadline, and even going to sleep earlier so I can meet the update before work, only to find it will not occur that day. Although, that is partially my fault for not reading between the lines at times, and expecting what can not always be delivered. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

Sir_Squab
If you were the boss of a major corporation and one of your employees accidentally made the company lose $90,000, would you say, "Oh don't worry about it, you're only human-- I understand!" So if they get a year of updates done and don't release them, that's ok with you? Mommy why are these crybabies using straw man arguments? Because they realize there is no mature way to validate their rage at a week delay on a video game, honey. By the way, $90,000 would equate to approximately 18,000 accounts quitting over this, or all of Jagex's world servers exploding simultaneously many times over. I know Geoff Iddison holds a grudge, but I don't think he has access to the kind of explosives you'd need to cause damage on that level. Please clarify the original point then; I don't quite see how that can be viewed as a straw man argument. I used that example because my previous boss was fired for that exact reason-- a simple mistake which cost the company dozens of thousands of dollars. Using "they're only human" is not a strong argument here. I don't understand how employees at Jagex can still have jobs if they consistently keep botching updates. Because with computers, it's quite often something you couldn't really predict, NOT human error. If anything, the only human error was announcing it on the BTS, without knowing 100% that they could release it this month, while still giving people the impression (falsely or otherwise, that's probably up to debate) that it WAS 100% guaranteed. The difference is they arn't botching them. Jagex never said they do WEEKLY updates, they only said "frequent updates". People have come to expect them to be weekly, but Jagex never advertised that to be the case. Heck even in the "members benefits" trailer they say MONTHLY updates. What I would really prefer is removing the BTS and putting in status updates (every 2-3 months or so) saying X Y and Z are in production, and will likley be released in the coming weeks in no particular order. The problem with twitter hints is nobody knew what was going on. The problem with BTS is people think BTS is a timetable not a future updates page. I think if they throw all the upcoming updates out there and don't say the order, people will know what is coming, but have no reason to expect update Y should here by X date. This thread is not about the promise of monthly updates, as they have already released 2 updates this week, but the fact that they wrote a ~10 line giddy story on their page that turned out not to be true. Sure, this is not a big deal for most people, but at the same time, there are some people who were promised this update within the next 3 days and they are not going to get what they were promised, and some of them might not at all get to try out the update as they are losing members in the coming days(as school starts in some countries etc). So, no, this is not a major deal in terms of gameplay, but on the otherhand, this is a huge deal for jagex credibility, decency and user-friendliness. It'd be nice if anyone actually went to a national consumer protection agency and reported jagex for false advertising, which this undoubtedly is. Honestly....ok, I'll sue Jagex for making me waste my membership on an update that didn't happen. I fly to Britain, hire a lawyer, go to court....Jagex gives me 20 pounds or euros or dollars to cover my wasted membership. Case dismissed, I've now lost probably over a grand between the fliight, and hiring the lawyer.... Anyways, another thing. This new update is just a small amount of what membership has to offer. A good lawyer would point out that missing out on this one piece of content is not truly false advertising, as when you bought membership you paid for dozens or hundreds of other features that membership gives, which you DID in fact receive. (But if I actually took them to court, Jagex would just give me a couple months free membership - it'd be the cheapest option for them, rather then hiring a lawyer and having someone spend several hours in court.) Besides, the better business bureau is for outright scams. This was not an outright scam, it was more or less a computer error causing then to have to set something back by a week. (For all you straw-men or example dudes or what-not, do people get fired in the business world because a computer error set their project back a week? Probably not.) It's not like they offer membership but no bonuses, or completely scrapped all projects listed in the BTS and sat back and drank beer for a month. In before next week's inevitable: "This is all garbage jamflex, these items suck! They aren't better than what we already have! They're too expensive/rare! They don't even look good! Waaaaaah! " YES, YES, YES, YES, YES! This is most definitely the most logical thing I have read on this rant. WIN   Squab unleashes Megiddo! The only fault would be that the managers had brought those certain computers for the QA team to use. Believe it or not, I believe that you should test all updates on a lower end computer before, oh I dunno, the Wednesday of the update week. Since you are not a member of the QA team, I'd question the veracity of that statement. It isn't necessarily the large amount of updates that need to be checked, more than a large amount of things that need to be checked in a small amount of updates. Dan, may I ask how this reflects badly on the forum? Just a little confused, as no doubt a forum with any form of opinion on it is objectionable, and thus reflects poorly upon the forum, to somebody. Racheya
How do you know that they hadn't tested it before the Wednesday? Maybe they were testing it at the weekend, or the Monday and found the problem but were trying to get it fixed for this week. When they realised that they couldn't get it fixed, they told us it'd be postponed. Since none of us actually KNOW what happened, this guesswork is just guesswork and is rather pointless as well.
