Game Update Delay

It's a game. And, for most people, it's summer. Go outside and enjoy the summer for a week. Then when you're done having fun in reality, you can come back to RuneScape and have your update. Oh wait, you're all still whining and this update comes out in THREE DAYS. Jesus...

No, Not to be an ass, but Racheya ALWAYS sticks up for Jagex. I've never once heard her express an original view, or a view against Jagex. Please point out posts if I am wrong, and I will stand corrected.

If I have a problem with something, I don't spend my time complaining about it all the time. I go find something better to do. If I enjoy something then I'll say so. And, with the amount that people default to hating on Jagex, I'd say that actually trying to understand and see the positive aspects of things is actually quite an original view.

That is a matter of opinion. What one calls a time waster is what another finds fun, or worthwhile.

 

What Jagex should do is get content ready to release, THEN announce it.

Maybe Jagex shouldn't announce content until it's ready, it would sure save them a whole lot of earache. But, for the BTS, they had the content ready, there was just a late minute glitch. In computing, these things happen.

I've both heard comments about "BRING BTS BACK" and "it's better to make content and then release the info".

 

One complains when the other happens.

 

As far as we're concerned there are people who hold opposite viewpoints at about an even ratio. Who do they listen to?

 

Honestly I'd rather see them run ideas past the community first so we can find out if they're going to mess up with user perceptions again, but since they're so paranoid about anybody actually caring enough about RS to steal ideas, it's never going to happen.

 

Any kind of bluhs regarding late releases due to content polishing are easily ignorable as long as it doesn't take forever. Same people say that the update needed more polish after a rushed release. Forget them. :P

One of the reasons that I cheered for the removal of the BTS was so stuff like this wouldn't happen. Yes, the BTS is an interesting layout, given over the entire month of what the updates will be - and guess what? People often like to believe in error that this is a bona fide, ironclad timetable that Jagex must be held to, on penalty of Death.

 

It's something that isn't exactly known to many people that aren't devs, but one of the hardest things to do is to add new features to an existing piece of code. If the code is well-written, the process is more like dancing with an angry porcupine than swimming with emaciated piranhas. Yet in both cases, there's always the (high) chance that something is going to appear where you don't want, cause something to go missing, or be excruciatingly painful to complete.

 

Jagex never did make any promises to us. They said they wanted to release the content out on this day, but ultimately couldn't due to a regression (and it's a good thing that they do regression checks).

 

For those that will enjoy the content when it lands, it's a week, give or take, of doing something else more fun to pass the time.

For those that won't enjoy the content when it lands, it's only a week, give or take, before we hear more incessant whining.

I think the poeple who complain have every right to do so, I can see why there would be frustration. People who share racheya's arguments are utterly irrelevant. It was a mistake on Jagex's part, so there will be a little bit of complaining. Live with it. Yet time after time the "be patient" crowd comes along and loves to make the same assertion that there is no reason to complain. It's endlessly annoying and there's no reason for it. One would think that if the "be patient" people matured a little bit they would be able to handle these threads without calling them pointless and childish.

I don't get what the problem is, if people want to complain about Jagex then let them. They haven't been doing a great job recently in my opinion so any criticism that comes their way is fully deserved, it's just as childish to call it "whining" when people are merely making themselves heard. Complaining =/= whining.

I never said it got anywhere, I said that it's understandable. It always happens, and it isn't going to change. (As I recall complaining actually does do something, considering the numerous updates which were reversed due to complaints.) I have no problem waiting for content, don't get me wrong, I'm 100% fine they delayed the update. I'm just acknowledging that whining about these type of threads never gets you anywhere. It just makes you look like a smug child. The people who have a problem with content get fed up with posts like yours because they just want to voice their frustration amongst a group that will accept it, not being called whiny for having opinions. I wasn't going to say, that last line, actually. But if your total contribution in your post is "stop whining" then that's not really any more constructive, but it has the added condescending and rude tone. Which is why I'm against the people who make posts like yours, they generally aren't very nice, and are more annoying to read.

But over all, all the complainers complain about jagex sucking at what they are paid to to, their job, and all the people complaining about complainers(which is actually much more childish) say that because they are a software development company, they can suck at their job....go figure...

From an observer's point of view, saying that Jagex sucks with deadlines is pretty fair. But from a consummer's point of view, saying Jagex sucks and not punishing them by either canceling membership or stop playing is the equivalent of saying: you guys can do no wrong, I'm still gonna throw you my money!

Really I was fine with no BTS; BTS was like Jagex presenting a summary to a story without the readers even reading the story. I liked the excitement of not knowing what updates we would receive.
