Sam
and also I feel like an idiot asking this... How do I make a glowing pentool effect... It never works for me... So...Yeah. GIMP preferably. Pen/Path tool > right click and there should be an option to either "stroke" or "brush" path. Then, find the equivalent of blending options, or layer styles options; it looks like this on photoshop: I'm guessing there's an equivalent of this toolbox on GIMP? If there's an option on this box called "Outer Glow" then choose that with your chosen glow colour. I guess you could probably duplicate the layer, move the duped layer below the original, and apply a gaussian blur to it, then adjust the colours to make it a glowy sort of colour. Sorry it's a little complicated, this post was based on my meager knowledge of GIMP - the best GIMP artist around here is probably Mrshinyredplanet, so I would think about PM'ing him. Also, I would try PM'ing Tripsis about macro lenses, she also lives in the US and will be able to help you probably a little more than me. You could also talk to Woopidoo2 aswell. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM

i_love_burritos
Yeah, thanks ! But you see, I suck at even following stuff like this. I want the most basic of basic. Stuff that shows me basic functions, what the hell layers and channels are etc... I'll give you an example; I went to your suggestion, pat, and I went to a tut. It asked me to create a new layer. I have freaking idea how to do that. Do you know what I mean ? It's like asking a monkey to word format. The chimp doesn't have an idea of the purpose and the function of grammar, punctuation, paragraphing, etc... I'm the chimp.
Ouchy
Then, you should read tutorials, on how to learn to use the program ;) Not much point doing anything without an understanding of your program. Read this, too http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/beginning ... 34772.html  My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages. Typography that we see in here. They're relatively unknown and I can't tell my art teacher that I was influenced by some people online :P I have Milton Glaser and David Carson so far. Also, can I have some websites to Stock photos. Any names will be good here too :P It's all to do with what I'm doing next year in art. Wongtong
EDIT: Figured out #1, still need help with #2 though. I started playing around in Illustrator and am currently creating an air balloon. I've encountered 2 problems so far: 1. Is there a way to delete everything under the oval in Illustrator? (Because as you can see in the 2nd picture, it's quite messy)[hide=]1 2 [/hide] 2. I can locate where the shadows should be, but what is the best way to create the shadow? (I mean on the balloon) Draw another path on top of the balloon and set it to some grey colour with layer as darken? :? If you can't answer these questions, could you please refer me to a pro with vectors? :D 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! Sam
As far as I can see in illustrator there is no marquee tool (If that's what you mean?) Copy it into Photoshop (if you have it) as a smart object, select around it with the pentool, or use the circular marquee tool, then copy-paste it back into illustrator 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM

Sam
Lots of concentration, and patience :P You just need alot of knowledge of what a program can do, the ability to use different programs/media. I can't get it right still and I've been doing stuff for a year, so don't expect it to come straight away. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
